What scrap means is easy to understand once you read the Chinese manual. 🙄 Oh you do not speak Chinese? Neither do I. Know any chinese people. I do and they are kind and friendly people, but I do not have one of these as I am not having a place to install it and also too lazy to do it. Have a Samsung available it could be that as this probably is the most sold Android it could function? Or not? The navigation would be one of the interesting thing to have in our cars as the Lexus navigation is so far below Garmin and even Google in quality that it could be OK to have such a thing installed. In a year or two maybe the company make something that actually function and hopefully with a manual in something else than Chinese.

Are we likely to see an all electric IS300?
Las Palmas replied to Fujifan's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Where we live there is 32 parking places for 32 flats. We can all charge cars in the garage but with a maximum of 10A charging will take a couple of days I believe. That is enough to charge a 12V starter battery and that is OK. -
Now you have had the Android Auto device installed a while, so have you found out how to make it function the way it is described in the ads for it or does it not live up to all the promises?

Brave man my friend. Go against Colin. But you are right. Very few looks for other interests than their own. I have been living many years in Africa and seen that we are not living up to the old saying that we have borrowed the earth from our children and it is our obligation go deliver it in as good (and if possibly better) condition as we received it. -

When still working we changed cars rather often plus having company cars available. Now we are going to keep the one we have till we need to change it. But next will be hydrogen combustion or fuel cell powered without a large battery if nothing better is available when that happen. And to make it understandable I am not only talking about personal transportation in own or company cars. When I mention batteries as power source for transport I earlier mentioned that I mean for transport complete including transport of goods across continents and there will not be material enough on this planet to make batteries enough for that with the technology we have today. While more people are starting to see that our consumption is damaging the planet with climate change, it seems that very few are ready to start to think of how to change our behaviour. Living the luxury lives we live is hard to give up in order for coming generations to have the chance to live with clean air and water. -

And filling could be faster and probably without needing to wait til there is a free charger. -

Except for the rarity of material to make the huge quantity of batteries needed and the dangers for the environment finding them, you are right. Electric energy is possible to make from the power of tide so if some is wasted that is a minor problem. Destroying health and environment in search for rare earth needed for batteries is a major problem. -

Probably will be on a different forum. The old battery type to crank the engine is not made of materials that cannot be recycled. -

How much of the precious rare earth materials in the battery do you think can be recycled? -

You miss the problems with making the batteries and the complete waste of power charging them and then using the power. Go on live your life without caring how the way of lifestyle is ruining the life of other not fortunate be live in rich countries. Rich you. Or are you for helping climate change? -

Maybe not rich, but fortunate compared to those living in flats where most have no garage space. The place you live must have a great electric supply net if 70% of people living there shall have electric power enough to charge the cars home. And to answer the question: Yes. Most of us living in Europe are rich if we compare to the rest of the world. -

If you do not care about destroying the planet in search for materials to make batteries from, plus that the batteries will be made so they are not destroyed by fast charging, as they are now. For the rich that have charging places home they can travel the distance the battery has, beyond that they will have to wait in que to get to a charger. For the rest of us: Why should we have a car? Also, let us have some more global warming and climate change, let us melt the glaziers and the permafrost, let us release all the carbon kept in the deep ocean and then go searching for - Another planet. -

If you have a crew like that you can drive electric car “green”. If there is sun enough. This is a model maybe better for a little family. 50km daily 4 days a week: Some of the problems mining for material to batteries for electric cars: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2300396018301836 https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2021/05/31/the-dark-side-of-congos-cobalt-rush https://therevelator.org/ev-batteries-seabed-mining/ If you still think electric cars are good for the future – you must be living on a different planet. Yes: I still believe those thinking that all transport can be made with power from batteries are stupid. -

Was in a major supermarket with more than 1000 parking spots yesterday. 2 of these were for cars with electric charging. Different countries, same planet. Take your car for a tour from Norway to Spain and it will be easy to fill up with diesel, gasoline and rather easy with different kinds of gas. With a car relying on batteries you will have to first find a charger and then have time enough to wait until it is ready to continue. EV are OK for driving around where you have your own charger and that is it. You have a place to charge it. Lucky you. You are in a minority group. Most people in cities in Europe live in flats where they are lucky if there is a parking space for a car. You are happy with your car. Good for you. Next car for our family will not have a battery for propulsion. Will not be a hybrid and absolutely not a fully EV. I do not blame the politicians for lacking brain and being mislead by lobbyists. They are doing what is best for them, it is up to us to elect some better. -
Have seen low light come on 3 times this year and when it lights up there is a ding sound (or something like that). If I remember I will see if the light comes on when starting the car.

I lived a year in Norway many, many, many years ago. Electricity was free after 19:00 - 05:00 (factories did not need power), we had a big oven that was never turned off, looked a 100 years old, but it probably was not, it was using very little power but was big bulky and probably extremely heavy and built into the ground and the wall behind it. Bread baked in there was fantastic but it took longer to bake than in the modern ovens we have now. I was neither the baker nor the cook. Just lucky. We use wind and solar energy to make electricity that is called green, we do not use the biggest power that is constant and not fading but utterly reliable: the tide. We can have electricity enough to make whatever we want while investing less. Hydrogen is easy to produce green, easy to transport, easy and fast to refuel and if spilled it just disappears, not like if we spilled a tanker full of oil or gasoline. We have been given brain for free, without obligation to use it and that's it. -

There is no infrastructure for electric cars anywhere in the world that is sufficient to the dream stupid politicians have that think all cars can be electric without thinking how impossible the idea is. Hydrogen can be produced almost green and if we start to think about producing electricity green instead of building more windmills that are leaving so much impossible to reuse waste material it can be made completely green plus the exhaust is putting out water that is almost as clean as rain from not polluted skies. Infrastructure is easier to make for hydrogen filling (gas stations exist already) plus many of the combustion engines still used today can be modified to be using hydrogen. A hydrogen car can be filled up (just like a petrol or diesel car) faster than a battery can be charged, and the battery is being destroyed if charged fast enough to compete. Plus: Hydrogen is going back to the state it was before made hydrogen (water) so it is wasting and polluting = not at all. -

Hope not. Producing batteries are so harmful that electric cars should be banned. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/business/2021/06/19/electric-car-revolution-risks-mountain-toxic-battery-waste/ If you want the whole story, ask and I will send it. -
In HJ today; What do we think of this answer?
Las Palmas replied to royoftherovers's topic in Lexus General Discussions
Aren't we all? I prefer to sit as high/low as the CT has me sitting. Have been lying (sitting) in cars much lower and also driving trucks. One thing I have problems understanding is that some cars have lights placed so high that they are blinding oncoming traffic when it supposedly is the road the driver should be seeing while driving, so that some trucks have light on the roof is absolutely stupid, and that some SUV's and other cars having light placed high are lighting up where there is no need to in order to drive the cars is only good for annoying oncoming in different types of cars. -

You are not the only one thinking the infotainment or whatever it is could be better. Like the mouse thing better? We have it in the CT, but using it in navigation or anything else is a pain. Use the navigation in smartphone and listen to music from the absolutely great Mark Levinson audio, music also from smartphone, where we can play what we like to hear. Maybe someday Lexus can find out how to make it work. We are in the age of miracles. As that is the only thing Lexus cannot find out how to make it is not really that bad. Most other cars have more mishaps built into them and few have the reliability Lexus has earned over the years.

10K was used by Audi when xenon gas lamps were the new thing and they are very blue and uncomfortable looking when one of these old Audi cars come towards us, Must have been legal though as they were factory. 3K is somewhere between amber and yellow and were standard in French cars long ago. 5.5K is close to daylight and 6K is what most new LED lights are sold as. I see no reason why daylight colour temperature should not be good.

The company may be a fraud as when asking for price for the laser type I was informed that it was too expensive and they have discontinued it sending me a mail with a new type LED that would emit light all around as the halogen and xenon gas lamps do but price is something they so far have not informed me about. www.ledoauto.com Maybe somebody else will have more luck asking as the lights they have are innovative and new, but if they only exist on drawing boards and paper they are not worth much. I dislike the colour temperature on halogen light and find the white on LED much better as closer to daylight compared to candlelight halogen and if adjusted correct the light will not blind oncoming traffic.
