Even though Michelin CrossClimate are not at all needed here I think of putting these on as they are the ones with the lowest noise level I can find. Summer tyres would be more appropriate here, but they all seem to be noisy and excessive fuel consuming. Anybody know of 215/45-17 tyres for comfortable driving style? Low noise, reasonable fuel consume and good braking efficiency in dry weather. Tain is something we have 5 minutes and hardly enough to get dust out of the air. Been in London twice and if driving in the wrong side of the road was not bad enough, the mist and rain disqualified the place for me to live in. The islands here are great for retired old people as well as for us. South of the island the beach is called Playa del Ingles, because of the many UK people coming and mainly living there.

Just had service. 73.000km. No problems except maybe consumption. The hills / mountains here are no good for the Lexus claim or 3.8L/100Km. When wife drive it (one month now) 6.8 is what is written and 7.6 since refuel. Less than the Honda Accord Coupé and almost as comfortable. Honda had more than 5K (£) audio equipment installed and did not sound better than the ML in the CT, more boom but not at all cleaner or more transparent in the mid / higher registers. When not played loud the CT has more beautiful bass (can hear fingers moving on the fret on a double bass) and even though the Honda was well insolated the CT is less noisy.

Do not know what Volte is. Here most phones sold are 5G. Our phones are 4G (do not need new when the ones we have are still good, just like the car). Could be after some kind of update a month ago (which I first did not think actually did succeed). Could also be coincidense as the infotainment in our car is completely not easy to understand. Only thing about infotainment that is perfect is the ML audio.

Have you noticed that they wash the tunnel walls with soap? Very clean country. No garbage on the streets (absolutely not like here).

New toy. Keeping it in the family.

This is the MR2, we have not had. Looks nice. Flowing lines. Almost Italian design. The first MR2 was very sharp edged from all sides. -

This is what I think is most interesting right now. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fuel_cell_vehicle When the CT needs be replaced something else probably will be more interesting. -
Trying to find out which "Lexury" car you have is confusing. Pro: Lexus cars are reliable and accomplished in quite high class Moonroof (other companies call it sunroof) Aut. windshield wiper Aut. braking when too close to car ahead of you Aut. dimming rear view mirror Synthetic leather seats with aircon and heat Electric seat adjustment with memory for 3 persons Window opening or closing on remote control Great MarkLevinson audio Keyless opening and locking without touching the remote, plus light on ground when approaching door (just open the door as if it was unlocked and light is on the ground so you do not need step on dog poop or whatever) Con: Ridiculous expensive to update navigations system that is not even really good plus poor infotainment Overpriced service inspections Similar to all car companies: Promised fuel consumption is impossible in normal use of the car Sure I forgot something.

The one we have has ML and micro-SD-card. Would not be surprised if Lexus made the new models to be "update only possible by Lexus service".

Tried the nav today and it gave me 3 routes. Testing first the ecologic route and that would have been a disaster as it showed the short way but through a valley and then a climb so whatever ecologic in that is hard to see. The fast route was using a highway, but to get to that would have been through very small roads where going fast could not really be recomended. Did not use the nav as I know the little island well, just had some spare time and would see if latest update had made the nav better. Recommended: Smartphone and Google Map.

Help me with Security System
Las Palmas replied to RajWJFWJK's topic in Lexus Audio/Video/Electronics/Security
I have been teaching service personnel to install alarms and always recommended to have a siren (with internal battery and extra loud) hidden inside in the cabin in a hard to access place. Not many would sit inside a car with a 120dB in their ears. Damage would have happened already, but some audio equipment components and other items of value would probably be left untouched. -
Cleaned off remnants bird poop after washing with isopropyl alcohol and the paint is slightly less shiny where the alcohol was. Here it maybe is not needed to have any national stickers as the EU license plates inform which country, we are in.

Hydrogen combustion engines do function. Never heard one though. Would like one. https://global.toyota/en/newsroom/corporate/35209996.html https://carsinsiders.com/2021/05/30/toyota-unveils-hydrogen-burning-engine-plan-to-fight-ev-mania/ -

Something hydrogen powered. Probably fuel cell something. So many factories are working on the idea so something good could come out of it while we are still alloved to drive cars. Think the CT will last till they are available. -
When our car is being serviced and we use a manual car from family, we thank for it but love to get back to the automatic CVT.

We live in a mountain island. Going uphill can either be nice, smooth and gentle and with no more noise than in any car with a gasoline engine; or it can be making an annoying noise if pedal is pressed to the bottom (which will not do much good either as engine is not made for power but economy). We dive to a market with fresh vegetables now and then (above 1200 m over sea level, where we live) and no problem. no noise, still able to listen to music on the way or talk to each other. CVT is the best gear system ever made. Smooth acceleration and utterly reliable. Buying a CT is not for people wanting a formula 1 car, but for being transported form one point to another comfortably. Economy on such a tour is far from what is promised, but that is easy to understand.

Suspension is something difficult to recommend. While some find the CT hard, we find it comfortable and well suspended. The sport models will be firmer than the non sport models. If you love listening to music while driving, the sound in a car with the Mark Levinson audio is something you do not find in many much more expensive cars; from factory. The CT is reliable, just look at how few the problems on the CT are compared to the other models; it may even be the most reliable Lexus. We are happy with the one we have.

While I do believe that Aygo is a good little car, for very short tours in city, still I am sure the CT is going to be missed a lot. Look at the models in this forum and see that the problems listed with the CT are few and far between and not really big problems compared to the the other Lexus models in the forum. And compared to how many CT that are driving it seems to be one of the simpler and less complicated models with very few problems. Had a few Toyotas before and the only one I liked was the Spyder; both a Supra and MR2 were more often in Toyota garage to have problems fixed that I find acceptable. So far, the only problem with the CT is that service is something that Lexus here does not have and price for being serviced (oil, filter etc.) are ridiculous, but when there are no reasons to go visit Lexus for other reasons than keeping the hybrid insured that is an acceptable price to pay. Used a new Toyota Aygo I rented in Denmark 2 years ago, latest model with open roof; and did not like it, did not keep it the 2 weeks I rented it, but changed it to a Hyundai 10.

Fuel additives to use or not to use that is the question!
Las Palmas replied to TKhan430's topic in Lexus Owners Club Lounge
V-Power smells bad enough. No reason to add anything. Long time ago water with gaz was used to clean valves. -
We have the Lexus 2021 update in our car. Still use Google Map. Lexus navigation is not nearly as good as Garmin or Google.
-
I would find it hard to miss the audio in the CT. ML is the best factory music you can get without paying for something in the RR class.

Think I did not read what you wrote. Grenada in the southeastern Caribbean not far from Venezuela? I read Granada in Spain. Sorry.
-
Hybrid is functioning very good in the island here, where the highest mountain in Spain is on the neighbour island. Here we have been 2000 meter up and no problem at all. Only thing is that it cost a bit more in fuel when climbing and when the climbs are so long that the gain when going down is not here at all. When going down 20 minutes only the first 3 - 4 are used to fill the hybrid battery and no matter how much you try to fill more in it - there is not room for more. The noise described by motoring journalists (who do not like hybrids) is only annoying when trying to up very steep hills with right foot down to the floor. Go up gentle and there is no more noise that there is in all cars when going uphill. Granada is hot this time of year. I prefer Granada in February - March. Sintra in Portugal is a fantastic place now and the next 2 months.

Petrol mixology - mixing super fuels!
Las Palmas replied to TKhan430's topic in Lexus Owners Club Lounge
The Beatles made a great song several years ago called Taxman. It tells you are right Tariq. Politicians need to gather a lot of money to pay for their long vacations and high salaries for doing exactly nothing. Too many Sheriffs of Nottingham and no Robin Hood.
