For us, when going from Cadiz to Denmark, small roads between smaller towns have been the way to travel for many years. More beautiful scenery and better and cheaper restaurants and hotels on the way than on the despicable highways where you even have to pay for driving.

I am not missing winters in Scandinavia. While I was living in Norway, they did not put salt on the roads (long ago) but in Denmark they are top consumers of salt. When temperature just get near 0 C salt is sprayed in abundance. Here we are having winter with 15 - 20 degrees C. Sun is shining most of the time, every day. Most hotels are fully booked again after a long time with no customers, Cruise ships are coming daily. Canary Islands are not a bad place to be retired.

EV range does not really matter. Battery pollution when no longer holding charge does. Alternative is needed. Ships are the first to get green fuel, but if/when that is available it can be used in cars too: https://shipandbunker.com/news/emea/922376-denmarks-port-of-hanstholm-plans-synthetic-methanol-production-facility I do not trust a politician longer than I can throw a full-grown African elephant uphill but: https://www.electrive.com/2022/01/04/denmark-aims-for-fossil-fuel-free-inland-flights-by-2030/ e-fuel does not need to be electricity stored in batteries: https://erhvervsstyrelsen.dk/sites/default/files/2021-03/Green Fuels for Denmark one-pager_0.pdf If many/most/some of these projects get going well EV cars with batteries will be: not interesting: https://www.nasdaq.com/articles/maersk-backs-plan-for-large-green-ammonia-plant-in-denmark-2021-02-23 Still waiting for fuelling stations so we can drive in cars, sounding like cars. But am willing to settle for hydrogen fuel-cell when that become affordable. Is it expensive? Most new things when being developed are too expensive but will still be developed and price will sooner or later become acceptable: https://www.forbes.com/sites/ankitmishra/2021/11/29/hydrogenious-is-using-conventional-fuel-infrastructure-to-scale-green-hydrogen-adoption/ Now: Is it really green fuel in the end? No. It is not making itself when the plants needed to make the fuel exist. Plants must be made where water is abundant, electric power is available to make the fuel which then must be transported to the user of the fuel. Windmills, even well built do not last forever as also solar cells become worn out. Around 15 tons of water needs to be purified to make 1 ton hydrogen.

Before they get batteries that could make an electric car useful as only car in family, you will be able to get a car with hydrogen cells or if we are really lucky a car with a combustion engine fuelled with hydrogen.

Today I'll mainly be moaning about ...

Whosoever think there is nothing to moan about go through life blindfolded. Happily unconscious. Good for them. -

Knighthood. A joke? Given by some living in castles far from people. Paid by the people. Read that the queen of Denmark several years ago was looking for a personal assistant that was not going to be paid by anything more than the permission to later claim: I have been assistant to the queen. Have a hard time believing other countries have royal families better. Their abundant wealth is nothing they have been working for. God bless the - -
With a dog in the car, it could be needed to clean the filter in the air-intake more regular.

Congratulation with the new car. My taste: Leather colour is the best colour for leather. Natural. Like it was on the animal. Does Lexus use leather for the seats? The one we have is black leather, but it is not leather. Lexus call it leather. But, of course, good for the animals that do not need to be killed for their skin. Have had cars with leather seats. The synthetic ones in our CT are more comfortable and the holes in it make it cooler. Do not know if seats are ventilated, but never warm and uncomfortable like real leather seats are here where we live. The “leather” seats from Lexus are great no problem they are not leather. Of the 2 red colours on the picture, I find the one on the Takumi most pleasing. Had a Nissan 300ZX in 1984 that colour.

Best wiper blades
Las Palmas replied to m4rkw's topic in RX 300 / RX 350h / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h+ / RX 500h Club
Lexus OEM replacement are just great. Cost more than most other wiper blades same size, but so does the car. Spare parts for a Lexus come from = Lexus. Lexus hardware is fine. Lexus software is not. -

Here, all they needed was the license plate number to make the key. Took a long time though. And was expensive.

Hope the Corona will be mild on you. Bad luck with the car, but cars can be replaced. All the best and hope to hear that you are well again Brian. -
Some of us used to be riding motorbikes and probably some of us had various kinds of accidents on the fun machine. I have had a few. This info is from ITV/TÜV: According to DGT sources, in 2020, 313 motorists lost their lives in traffic accidents, and another 2,142 were hospitalized due to the injuries suffered. The motorcycle airbag or motorcycle airbag vest is a garment capable of reducing the chances of death and serious injury in the event of a motorcycle accident. How does a motorcycle airbag vest work? The operation of the motorcycle airbag is similar to that of passenger car airbags: they have an inflatable system that is activated when the sensors detect an impact or a fall. Being a garment that is worn on the thorax, the motorcycle airbag vest protects critical points in this area (heart, lungs ...), an area in which 35% of deceased motorists and more than 25% of motorists suffer injuries. hospitalized. For Pere Navarro, the director of the DGT, the motorcycle airbag vest will mean a before and after, just as it happened years ago with the helmet. More and more devices are being developed to protect motorcyclists, since they are especially vulnerable drivers as they do not have an external chassis to protect them in the event of an accident.

Missing a few BHP on my RCF
Las Palmas replied to CJP1's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
Yes, with a MR2 first generation and a kit-car with a 2L Porsche engine in it. Do not remember results of either, but do remember that the guy running the testing told me that for the Buggy based kit-car the power weight was similar to some of the slower cars in Tour de France. -
I do not know it this has much similarity to what is happening other places in the world, but for people driving in Spain either because of living here or on vacation this can be of some interest: 20 Dec Speed cameras that fine before and after the control zone, true or false? in News by @applus 0 Comments Share The most common offense by Spanish drivers is speeding. This is demonstrated by the 2.4 million penalties recorded for speed cameras on our roads last year. As we know, the DGT's way of controlling speeding is with radars, as well as other systems such as drones and helicopters with technology to measure the speed of vehicles. Of the more than 1,400 speed cameras that the DGT has in the territory, 780 are fixed, 545 are mobile and 92 are sectional, whose location is public and can be consulted on its own website. How do speed cameras work? Speed radars detect it thanks to a frequency system that measures the vehicle's wavelength. Thus, the higher the speed of the vehicle, the higher the frequency measured by the radar. The speed radar kinemometer activates the camera when this wave frequency exceeds the allowed limit depending on the type of road. Are there radars capable of detecting braking and acceleration? Two common maneuvers by drivers are to brake before reaching the speed radar and then accelerate once passed. However, the DGT cannot fine drivers if their speed is within the legal limit. In recent days, news has appeared in certain media about speed camera systems that detect braking and acceleration before and after leaving the control zone. However, the DGT has had to deny this news, since it has not announced the installation of this type of speed camera. In fact, there is no way to detect braking and acceleration before and after the radar, since the section radars, in this case, cannot calculate the average speed at a specific point. DGT director Pere Navarro recalled that traffic regulations are transparent and accessible to all users, and has warned about this type of false news. Apart from this, it should be remembered that speed cameras serve to save lives, since speeding is one of the main causes of death on the road together with driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

Who say electric cars cannot drive long distance without refuelling: https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/toyota-mirai-845-mile-guinness-world-record/ You like to listen to the sound of a combustion engine: https://www.msn.com/en-us/autos/enthusiasts/toyotas-hydrogen-powered-engine-sounds-pretty-damn-good/ar-BB1ghUVJ https://global.toyota/en/newsroom/corporate/36074055.html https://www.toyota.com/mirai/ https://global.toyota/en/newsroom/corporate/35209996.html https://news.yahoo.com/cars-electric-toyota-chases-hydrogen-143928433.html?guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly9kdWNrZHVja2dvLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAMckmJPskN_qOQygCNgJ7JpOLA7OrSBMChT7urutr0pN471Zk6_LEtpYb5VdQEXtt3uG2k6KIfJGoYxlOHkpHvinDkRRS_raeuP2ToWJBWg5TS1VU5-JXEof0F9dvckDv8_Q10okt5EhOBZt1GgQ24HyAtpnJW5vkfuM0V0IfaqY&_guc_consent_skip=1640175460 https://www.caranddriver.com/toyota/mirai Hope to get a hydrogen car while still being allowed to drive one. -
That I wish, but with all the travel limits it may not be possible to have family here for Christmas. Mainland Spain is hard hit, the islands here not so much, but maybe we will not have family coming here this year. Oh, and this is what I have as standard screen on the CT.

The one we have change navigation display after sundown to much darker automatic. If there is a setting that makes that happen I am not sure of. Entering a tunnel also change the display. One of you reading this, that have read the manual, may be able to inform better.

Is it not taken care of when car is serviced?

Also washed the car. Drive through. 5 minutes - 6 €. Looks like new again except for the wheels. The machine does not clean the wheels well. Great car. Shame factory tell it runs 100km on 3.8L. It is still a very economic car with the consume it has compared to other cars or same standard. Lamps still look like new. When the Golf was 5 years old the lamps were getting yellow and not very fine. Same country with sun almost every day and the quality of the paint and the rest of the car is miles ahead of the competition.
