Does the ct200 have a problem with cat theft?
Las Palmas replied to 007M's topic in Lexus CT 200h Club
If pro, and as such well equipped with tools, cat-lock will add less than 5 minutes. I think. Still 5 minutes can be enough to get better pictures of them and their getaway car. -
Nobody have installed LED high beam in their CT? I am thinking maybe good. Low beam LED is a nice white colour 5800 - 6400K and the high beam halogen is about 3200K - not very nice yellow tint. We have the needed washer from factory so what could be illegal or not good having LED as high beam? Low beam is not allowed to blind oncoming so need special pattern and factory has taken care of that, but high beam is blinding no matter if halogen or LED. When HID (xenon gas) was new technology washer for the lamps was needed as HID was not heating lamps like halogen and in colder climates did not melt snow (which halogen also did not when it was cold) and for low beam an automatic level regulator was needed on the lamps so light would not blind oncoming cars when trunk was loaded.

For a pair of halogen-bulbs that is a price that beat any I have heard of before. Installing them should take less than 10 minutes for a trained service technician. Osram and Philips will cost 10 - 15 for a pair and both have 3200K colour temp like the ones installed in our car.

I wonder how long time the original Lexus LED bulbs last. As there are LED from factory in low beam, high beam should not be a problem as it is low beam that is regulated from factory so it does not blind oncoming cars; high beam will always be blinding so should not be a problem changing halogen to LED. For colder countries the headlight washer will be able to wash away snow on both low and high beam. Why Lexus is not installing LED on high beam is not easy to understand on cars with LED low beam. LED last much longer than halogen.

We have good cars made from good hardware and the reputation Lexus have had and for some still have has been built over many years. The reputation can be destroyed much faster. Where we live Toyota was fantastic 2005 - 2006. We had a MR2 Spyder serviced there. Lexus in same buildings is not recommended by me and only reason going there is that with service follow warranty that is not possible to get from independent and maybe better garages.

It is a safety issue. Driver is supposed to keep his passengers safe and if driver is not informed that back-seat passengers have no seat-belt on it is not good. A warning tone is meant to wake up drivers so they can be sure children and old family members use seat-belt.

Not all Lexus garages are worthy of servicing cars.

Are electric cars the new diesel gate

2010 Chevrolet Volt was trying to get shares of the market of Prius. 2019 No longer trying. Opel Ampera and in UK probably Vauxhall. -
Your answer can easily be perceived as sarcastic Herbie. I do not think it is meant that way. We are in the friendly forum where all questions about Lexus are answered kindly and informatively.

How qualified the personnel is will probably vary different places. Here where we live, I believe they can do a standard service and not much more than that. 10 years ago, Toyota was in one place and Lexus in another (had a MR2 Spyder then). Both Lexus and Toyota were managed by competent people from Japan and offering far more service than now. You could come in the weekend if having problems and get help immediately. At a higher price; but possible. Now after local ownership both Lexus and Toyota are where before only Toyota was. 10 years ago, most taxis were Prius. Now both Dacia and Hyundai have more new cars as taxi than Toyota. If they here make a mistake, I need to tell the manager in order to have it fixed. They are excellent in coming up with stupid explanations though.

Welcome John. You have the same question as most owners of cars. Nobody seems to be able to answer that as not all of us prefer comfort most, long lasting tyre-life. The CT has excellent steering and balance from factory, and good grip is a good thing especially on demanding roads, the way the roads are maintained make hard tyres noisier than most want. The tyres on our CT are Pirelli P7 Cinturato and on good roads they are nice and quiet, but on bad roads the CT does not sound luxury inside. Many prefer Michelin all season where you live as they make it possible to use same wheels all year. Changing tyres/wheels when temperature demand it is not really funny. We want low noise so we can listen to the excellent audio Lexus has installed in the car with as little interference as possible, but at the same time also good grip and low consume plus all the other good things tyre factories promise their tyres will give. Even though we do not need all-season tyres as we have summer all year a perfect tyre for all needs does not exist as far as we know. On most cars we have had Continental has been the brand to go to as they are long lasting, having fantastic grip and the other cars we have had were not quiet as the CT can be on good roads, so noise from tyres were never something we thought about. When the P7 need to be replaced we will look for the quietest we can find. Here on the forum we hope to be helped just like you. Enjoy the CT, one of the most reliable the factory has ever made.

I will not drill any holes in metal on the car. Rust is not appreciated. What good are mudflaps anyway? Spread water and mud so it can hit the windscreen on cars behind?
