  1. Don't worry - be happy. Today I saw that fuel is 1 cent cheaper than yesterday. No it is not cheap - but cheaper. 1.56€/L Shell super V 98 oct. etc. Will fill it this evening when getting out again.
  2. Hybrid battery does not need to be full to start the car. The battery that needs to have power enough to start the computer in the car is the 12V standard battery (more or less standard + ) and that is not much power the computer need. Then, if needed, the engine start and charge the hybrid battery. When we leave the car with almost full hybrid battery in the evening it will still be almost full next morning. If we park the car with only 2 stripes on the hybrid it will have the same 2 in the morning when starting the car again. That is enough to start the engine to charge batteries. Never had problems with this so far and 12V batteries have limited life in most cars so maybe a 5 - 6 year old battery would have been changed if it was to start the engine as in non-hybrid cars, but here the engine is not started with a power-sucking starter motor like in non-hybrid cars so as long as you take care of having 12V available to start the computer and clean the hybrid battery filter so it is not running hot, the car should be able to run without problems 15 - 20 years. That is what I thought when accepting the choice my wife made buying the CT. Otherwise I would have said: buy a pure gasoline car. No battery except the 12V which we changed every 5 years in the few cars we have had that long (2). Yes: we have had car showing full battery very often. Every time going down from the mountains to sea level where we live.
  3. And all you need to feed the 3 blowers with dry, clean and cool air (without needing any filter) is a tube delivering air from AC. I'm pretty sure there are temperature sensors that control how much air the fans have to deliver. No more cleaning air filter to the hybrid battery.
  4. The worst is that Lexus / Toyota, know how important it is to keep the hybrid battery cool and there is an easy way to keep the battery cool and the filter clean (though filter is not needed if they lead dry, clean and cool air to the hybrid battery) and Lexus / Toyota are not doing that. All the cars have AC and the air coming from AC is dry, clean and cool and it would be easy to have a tube going to the hybrid battery from the AC.
  5. It is easy to do and takes 5 minutes, so why Lexus does not do it in each service, that is expensive enough, is not easy to understand. Not all are aware of the need to clean the filter. Sand from Sahara is more common here than dust from volcanos the erupt every thousand year. More or much less.
  6. Is it with any door it can lock or only one? If only one door, the switch that tells the computer the door is closed is malfunctioning.
  7. The original grill makes the lines of the car flow and enhance the rest of the design, whereas the sport version makes it look like something disturbing up front. Grandad? The design is classic and that makes the car a grandad car, a classic is not a classic if it is designed today. There are many different ways of living as a grandad. A friend of mine won this https://worldsmarathons.com/marathon/la-ultra-the-high a couple of days before he was a grandad. Several grandad's have been winning marathons and I still think that one of the best ways to spend a days workout is above the clouds looking down on the sea to where I live opposite the marina. The one on top is a classic, the one below is not Both are fine cars. The F-sport is maybe more fun driving, but the first is a classic. Neither are made for track days. Lexus is luxury, not formula one cars.
  8. I know that this is not what was asked, but I think the upper grille looks a lot more fitting the car than the F-Sport does.
  9. That is a question needing to be asked to Lexus from someone with a bit more influence than we poor car owners have. Not even the easy to access filter next to the rear seat is cleaned when the car is serviced.
  10. No oil last forever. So no matter what Lexus/Toyota claim it is better to have oil that is lubricating correct than oil that is no longer as good as it once was. I would stick to the oil recommended by car manufacturer but I do not believe it it better to change the whole gearbox than the oil. That is only better for the company selling the gearbox.
  11. Lucky you living so far from that. Here you can now and then feel it between the teeth. Lucky us having so little rain that it usually blows off when driving.
  12. Here on the island Lexus tell me they do not know it. Just wanted to know if it is from Lexus as then they can be forced to know it.
  13. Is Lexus Relax UK only or global?
  14. Probably not in the short run. Lexus has a reputation and that has been built over a period. I have seen in forums here some mention faults in rather new (less than 3 years old) cars and do not think it has always been like that, as then Lexus would not have received the reputation the brand has gained. Just wondering if quality is going down compared to what it used to be. Can happen anywhere and maybe they are just getting slobby or have problems getting qualified people working for them. Why service should be more expensive for Lexus than Toyota is not easy to understand when same oil is used in Prius as in the CT and other hybrids, why same wind-shield wiper shall cost 15€ more when sold to Lexus than Toyota (both names on the package), when many or most of the parts in a service are the same for both brands and when service is made in same place by same personnel. Think it is OK to have people with Lexus cars pay more than people with Toyota cars for same work and same spare parts? I do not. You in UK have a lot of different places to go get service, good for you. We too get service in authorized place (only one company here on the island with OEM parts) and when we had the MR2 Spyder serviced, same place, I can tell you service was not the least bit worse, as I remember personnel and service were better.
  15. If you want to do shopping on bike maybe you need one like this
  16. Price up again 10 cent today. Still cheap compared to mainland EU and UK as well, so will not tell that it is still below ? Where does it come from? Do not know.
  17. https://www.ebay.de/itm/253482214924?var=555253493287 Installed this in the CT. Hold 11" tablet without problems. Cheap 16€ included shipping (from UK). Compare with the one from Lexusparts UK? I like this from eBay. Cheaper, much cheaper, less clumsy, can be installed more ways so the tablet can be placed where my little one wants it to be. What's not to like? The CT is fine, we are happy with it, but Toyota here has nothing that can make little children comfortable in the car. Just look at the booster seat I bought. Company that made it was supported by Hyundai. https://poledglobal.com/79/?idx=4 10 times the quality of what El Corte Ingles (supposedly the best quality store in Spain) has to offer. Toyota here has nothing.
  18. Could it be the end of Lexus? I think I read John (royoftherovers) mention that Lexus service once was and now no longer as it was, or something like that. Maybe Toyota wants to make Toyota the brand for all. Maybe Lexus is no longer so perfect assembled and in details perfected as it once was. If that is right then there is no reason to have a very expensive Lexus. Especially not if a Toyota with same equipment and quality can be bought cheaper. We did not buy the CT because it is an expensive brand. But because the brand has a reputation for reliability, but I see that some of the newer cars are having problems of various kind, that are taken care of as long as they are brand new and warranty is full, but what will be the result if expensive problems start to appear after the first full warranty period. Will Lexus then repair free of charge? Or not? Hope that the 2016 models were still made with the previous famous Lexus quality. So far, we have had no issues except for the unreasonable expensive service (compared to Toyota).
  19. I would not know what the correct quote is as I have now read so many more or less equal. We cannot ask the old drunk as he is not here any-more, and about price of fuel: I have not been out today, so do not know how much more expensive it is. But fear that next time the little tank needs more it will not be cheaper.
  20. Sorry friend. You did not see the face with eyes with tears after. I have had some pretty nice diesel cars and though I have also had a few not so funny I thought that almost all Lexus owners were driving on gasoline. Here in the forum I mostly saw diesel engines mentioned as problems. Diesel is still cheaper here than 98 V-Shell and the diesel cars go longer on one litre. I see that our CT has medium consume 6.3 over last year and our old dark smoke out of the exhaust pipe Golf 2.0tdi DSG 2005 had medium 5.3 over a couple of years. In mountains hybrid is not what I expected, but now we have the CT and will have that, until a hydrogen combustion car become a reasonable possibility. Which may happen before the CT dies (if we are lucky)
  21. Would it not be boring if we only were writing how much more fuel cost? That is not really something to laugh about. And do we not want to have fun and smile now and then? Laugh at each other and ourselves?
  22. If air filter let more air in they can give more power. They will then also let more unwanted particles in and in the long run that will not be good. No air filter is best for power and the guys that repair the engines. 😇 Use Shell V-max-power or whatever it is called the 98 octane. Do not believe the car get more power, but run more silent, start the engine more silent with less vibrations. Maybe. When Lexus tell us to use at least some octane, some oil, some filter, that probably is good for the engine. Lexus / Toyota wiper blades are not making noise like Bosch Airo Twin. The original are silent. And they are horribly expensive.
  23. Pretty sure I read about the power of the brain, because I remember also having read him saying that: Yes, I am drunk, but tomorrow I will be sober and you will still be (something not intelligent). No, I do not believe all that I read, like this (read it first time 2004 and saw it quoted again not many years ago somewhere): As part of the negotiations, the British Government conceded that English spelling had some room for improvement and has accepted a 5- year phase-in plan that would become known as "Euro-English". In the first year, "s" will replace the soft "c".. Sertainly, this will make the sivil servants jump with joy. The hard "c" will be dropped in favour of "k". This should klear up konfusion, and keyboards kan have one less letter. There will be growing publik enthusiasm in the sekond year when the troublesome "ph" will be replaced with "f".. This will make words like fotograf 20% shorter. In the 3rd year, publik akseptanse of the new spelling kan be expekted to reach the stage where more komplikated changes are possible. Governments will enkourage the removal of double letters which have always ben a deterent to akurate speling. Also, al wil agre that the horibl mes of the silent "e" in the languag is disgrasful and it should go away. By the 4th yer people wil be reseptiv to steps such as replasing "th" with "z" and "w" with "v". During ze fifz yer, ze unesesary "o" kan be dropd from vords kontaining "ou" and after ziz fifz yer, ve vil hav a reil sensibl riten styl. Zer vil be no mor trubl or difikultis and evrivun vil find it ezi tu understand ech oza. Ze drem of a united urop vil finali kum tru. Und efter ze fifz yer, ve vil al be speking German like zey vunted in ze forst plas. And back to what this is about: Shell got a price rise again today. 3 cent more afternoon from morning.
