Hybrid cars can run in ECO, Normal and Sport mode. EV is very limited if the hybrid is not a plug-in. Run in ECO and air-condition is less powerful than in Normal or Sport mode. We trust that Lexus/Toyota know what they are doing and drive almost always in Normal mode. Never pressing EV button. Have not found that driving in ECO will give much better fuel economy, but far less temperature adjustment in the cabin (we live in a place where the climate is summer all year long), when weather is hot, we have inside temperature regulated between 24 and 27 degrees C in order not to have too big difference when going out of the car. Normal mode will also be better for colder areas, as air-condition, where it is cold and wet, keeps cabin dry.

Knowing that none of us can convince those loving EV’s, that they are helping nothing at all with regard to climate crisis; and that becoming dependent on China to deliver batteries is not nearly as bad than being dependent of gas and oil from Russia; and that our stupid politicians have all the rights in the world to only care about being re-elected, I will now accept that stupidity is a virtue allowed to us all. EV’s will resolve all climate changing problems, so we do no longer have to worry. Our elected politicians are doing the best job possible to solve everything for us. And we and our children and those coming later are going towards a glorious future with no problems; they will be able to annul all the errors we and our forefathers have made. So now I will sit down and smoke a virtual peace pipe (virtual because I know smoking is bad for health) and drink a strong cup of Mokka. And the genius said: Imagination is more important than knowledge.

When we came here to the island in our Honda Accord Coupé, we thought that this place was right for a cabriolet. Wife looked as the SC and said it looked right, but stupid me thought that a MR2 Spyder would be more fun. That was the last time I thought that I knew most about cars. Have had a MR2 1st. generation and that was funny as well. So was the Spyder. Now when we have a Lexus I know I was wrong. The SC is beautiful.

Wires can be relocated. Those that are pro stealing will find a way no matter what we do. We cannot keep our cars in a bank box.

I do not at all believe you are bad or heartless Bill. I think you are just as little informed and thinking the same way as most of us rich people. I was lucky enough to be rich and curious and went out in the world to see what it's like out there. Spent time in Africa and Asia and found it interesting to walk in mountains and see the beauty there. Then I found that people looking different to me were just as curious and interested in learning what they did not know as I was and found friends I still have. Rich people and poor people have same value. No matter if black, yellow or white skinned none are better or worse. Unfortunately, ignorant rich people seemed to think that they were allowed to take from the poor and in my eyes, the worst are the racists; stealing from poor because they have better weapons. Seeing what is happening in our rich countries I feel sorry for the idiots that think they are better because they have more than they need and that those that have little or nothing are worth - nothing. Racist political parties are getting bigger in Europe. We were raised to believe that the goal is to get more than we need, and the more we get, the more we need. Some needs castles and some are happy if they have a place to rest their heads and food to fill the stomach. The world has enough to feed us all and still the rich want more. Some years ago, there was so much wheat that the price for it was going too far down for those selling it, and instead of giving it to people that did still not have money to buy it, it was burned to make electricity. Keep the price up! I am very happy that I went out to see the world, finding out that there is more happiness in having friends than money. Yes, exploitation is a political issue, that will never be addressed as long as some think they are worth more than others.

Some time between 2007 and 2016 Lexus / Toyota Japan sold the franchise to local people here on the island. Before (we had a Toyota MR2 Spyder) service was flawless. Now Lexus / Toyota will give fantastic service when buying a new or used car from them, but when you no longer are among the latest of their customers you are screwed; given wrong information and poor-quality service. There is absolutely no reason a software wizard should not be able to reprogram the alarm system in the cars so replacement keys can be programmed to the car, and probably Lexus Japan has the solution, maybe even software to do it, but unfortunately it just may be best if speaking Japanese to get in touch with the right people. Some here on the forum tell about the good service Lexus UK give them, so maybe there is one or more still treating their customers like valued customers.

You are right Malc. Government will never do what is best. All the elected (by us) will do is what give the best chances to get re-elected. Just look at the idiots mumbling and arguing about the silliest things in your own government. Most important is to make my opponent look silly so I can get re-elected. Do not talk about bribery, that is prohibited. Talk about being lobbied!

If you have been living all your life in so called civilized world you have no idea how poor people live. Poor people do not drive cars. If they are lucky they have something to eat.

Such way of thinking is stupidly inhuman. Do you mean that the global situation is less important when rich people in cities can drive with less pollution than the problems for poor people that are mining the dangerous material for the batteries needed and the sea water is rising making islands inhabitable and that children are dying in overflooded areas of the world due to the climate change?
-
You do not mean that if we pollute in Africa the effect will not be global!

Exhaust smell, high fuel consumption etc (please help!)
Las Palmas replied to alexlinga's topic in Engine & Transmission
Diesel smell can take a long time to go away if not cleaned completely and even if cleaned well. 8.5L 100km is maybe not that bad if you are driving around in the mountains near Röros or the like. We have 6.5L 100km in the island of Gran Canaria with a CT the according to factory should only need 3.8L. Smell can also come from a little hole in the exhaust pipe. Black smoke is sign of burning oil and maybe not burning the diesel sompletely. Blue/grey smoke is far worse. Your English is fine. We Vikings are used to speaking more than one language. -
That certainly is a different beast. Good you like it. Long time ago I loved driving a Lancia delta integrale EVO 2 fully prepared, but that was long time ago. Later MR2 version 1 and MR2 Spyder were enough for me. Also a Smart Roadster Coupé was fun. With the car you chose I am sure you are less than half my age. Enjoy it. Drive safe.

Like first time I mentioned the usefulness of EV cars: Only a person that own his own solar cells will benefit from having a fully electric or hybrid plug-in car. A friend of mine has a plug-in MG (made in China or Japan no longer UK) and pay nothing for driving it. Only use it to drive the distance the plug-in battery can deliver power. For longer tours has a Land-Cruiser. For the poor that bought a fully EV when charging was free (in supermarkets) it must be painful. Super Shell is now 1.62€ here.

What replacement 12V battery to use?
Las Palmas replied to BossCT200hAdv's topic in Lexus CT 200h Club
If something sounds too good to be true, it often is. Do you know if all parts are delivered in order to change from the NiMH to LiIon and AGM to LiFePo4 so a skilled technician can do the job? Have you any idea of the total cost? It sounds too good to be true. -
What replacement 12V battery to use?
Las Palmas replied to BossCT200hAdv's topic in Lexus CT 200h Club
14.8V is correct. No! I do not believe that what was claimed is correct. What will come in the future is not for me to predict. Only ??????€ for 12.8V if these are the new cells. Enough power to start the computer is all that is needed - yes? Will they need cooling or ventilation? https://www.manomano.es/baterias-solares-y-eolicas-2259?model_id=27532032&referer_id=703210&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIuZjEif-T-gIV45PVCh25fAqdEAQYAyABEgKZqvD_BwE -
What replacement 12V battery to use?
Las Palmas replied to BossCT200hAdv's topic in Lexus CT 200h Club
It was quite a revelation. If true, a CT could become a 3L/100km car. Do you believe that? -
Just re-program the key and car and the lost key cannot start the car. That can be done with all other alarm systems. Suppose Lexus software should be able to do that.

No, but it was sealed and no place to pour in water. What other batteries are sealed? -
Fill her up and 1 shot please
Las Palmas replied to Marlinleg's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
Several years ago, maybe 30 maybe more, who remember that long ago? Driving throug Spain we often saw police cars being filled and in the bar just beside it the 2 police guys in uniform and all were sitting and having - like you mentioned - a shot and a coffee, or was it the other way around? Not Redex. Nobody thought that was anything to notice. That is just how it was. Times change. If they still have a shot, it is a lot more discreet now. -

Disaster. ****ty car. Brand new, on a tour through Europe yellow warning lamp for engine lit up whenever speed was above 160km/h. Went to Toyota in 2 countries to get it fixed. Both places told that they did not yet have info about the new model. Back to Switzerland where it was bought. Traded it for a Nissan 300ZX. What a bless the Nissan was. 500% better than the Supra. Did not have a Toyota again before 2005 when buying a MR2 Spyder. Very nice also. -
Welcome to the forum. Buy extra key from Lexus. Have them reprogram the keys to the car if you do not trust seller and think that seller may still have the missing key. That way the missing/old key will no longer function. Expensive yes, but not that much

Las Palmas replied to BossCT200hAdv's topic in Lexus CT 200h Club
If we agree that acid is not good for paint, skin and other things: AGM batteries are the right choice. First time I remember seeing an AGM battery was in Toyota Supra 3.0 Targa maybe in 1984 - 1986. I noticed the label: Maintenance Free. -
Like John (royoftherovers) never saw you posting anything before so, welcome to the forum. Like you I do not think that all Lexus service and all Lexus service personnel are best in the world, most reliable and things like that. Now I have mentioned where I agree with you. A reliable car like the CT (Prius in disguise) should have OEM replacement parts when needed. So far none on the one we have.
