Lexus quality control (faults)
Las Palmas replied to fourbanks's topic in Lexus UX250h / UX300h / UX300e Club
It is far more expensive for car companies to build several version models than one of the same car model. Already around year 2002 - 3 Citroen, Peugeot, VW etc. had cruise control built in the car, all the agents needed to activate it was to install the stalk with a couple of wires. You do not think that Lexus is doing the same? It is not cost effective to have so many different versions of the same car. -
Would have been glad for that. We give our car to service and have to take a taxi to get home. And another to get back collect the serviced car.

Never write too fast. Should have been Opel Ampera. Yes UK think that Opel is Vauxhall. The Chevrolet Volt did have an engine only to make electricity. NO??? Wikipedia: The Volt operates as a pure battery electric vehicle until its battery capacity drops to a predetermined threshold from full charge. From there, its internal combustion engine powers an electric generator to extend the vehicle's range as needed. Does not sound like the combustion engine is driving the wheels. OR???

Lexus quality control (faults)

I believe that the difference between Toyota and Lexus cars is more on the cosmetic side than in engine and other mechanical things. It would be cheaper to have one company to take care of both brands as they are generally built of mostly same materials. The CT is a Prius in disguise and the new Crown looks like a luxury car ready to compete with Lexus. In 1985 I was driving in a Toyota Crown and that was a luxury car then. Would still be today. Toyota will likely take over servicing of Lexus in the future. -

Never had that problem. I come because you live in a rainy country. 😇 -
In 2011 the Chevrolet Volt (in Europe - Opel Ampera) did the same thing. Never really sold that well.

Agree with you that the difference between digging oil and rare earth is that there probably is more oil; but both are not really good to use. Also, I did not know that the oil you mention belong to the UK. Do not believe all world think that is correct.

Yes. The old RR's are pretty tough. 1958. Do they proof that some have more than they need? Still think that this is far more beautiful: Having money is not the same as having style.

British cars: AirCondition did not function.

That is sad. No more Rolls Royce? Poor girl.

Here Lexus is no more just Lexus. Toyota has it all. Big name on top of building TOYOTA no mentioning of Lexus there Latest service (yesterday): Included extension of Lexus Relax (hybrid battery).

That you have to spell country and then city each time before getting to street etc. where you want to go is completely waste of time, especially when a smartphone will automaticcally search for nearest street with the name you are searching for, from where you are right now. Navigating in the alphabeth with the mouse is pretty awkward. I find that very little efficient. First navigation I had in a car (Becker) not hundred years ago, but very long time - definitely more than 20 years, was smarter. It could find a very little, narrow street (think it is less than 100 m) in Madrid and direct me from Denmark there in one go and did not lose address when fueling or eating on the way.

Here is invoice from 90K km service (car has actually only 80.719km on the counter so why it is called 90K km service is not for me to tell): Spark plugs 116.64 Brake fluid – 1L 16.98 Hybrid oil - 4L 73.96 Air filter 27.44€ 27.44 Brake pad kit 79.53 Engine oil Shell Helix Ultra SN Plus 0W20 - 4L 54.30 Extension of Lexus Relax (hybrid battery) 35.00 Plus, something to dispose of whatever Total 696.89 € All prices in € and with the current market where £ - $ - € are up and down I have no idea how much it would be in UK. Seems that there is hybrid oil (whatever that is) in the service, and changing brake pads when car has run 80K km is sooner than I expected. Hybrid warranty 35€ is cheaper than I have heard before (65€) but maybe discount because having service at same time. All in all, better service than the latest 2 service visits to same garage. The only Lexus garage here so choice is limited.

Here it is same thing. Lexus / Toyota have same address, same personnel, live in same building, same everything except maybe price; do not know. Before Japan sold the service to local people there was a Lexus, big and impressive next to the Toyota also very fine garage. Now the big impressive building where Lexus used to be is home to another company. Think the cars use same oil, filter and most other spare parts so a difference should not be big if there is any. Have been wrong before, so what would I know.

Cannot answer about a 2010 car, but the navigation in our CT is not worth using. Even though we had the navigation updated by Lexus 2 years ago it does not know the shortest way around the island where we live. Any smartphone will have a better navigation system in it and updates are regular and free. With Lexus there is no such thing as free updates of the navigation system for our old cars.

Dealer using customer's car for business use
Las Palmas replied to MadJam250's topic in Lexus General Discussions
Our car is today having 80K km service. Do not think they will even take a test ride in it. Supposedly a big service (50K miles?). -
Best quality audio transfer is through the line-in. Then you can play whatever your source can handle no matter if lossless DSD, DSF, flac or WAV. I use flac 24-bit 96kHz when sitting waiting for family shopping, when driving and using Bluetooth transfer possibility is up to how new the Bluetooth is, usually not more than 16-bit 48kHz. Audio in Lexus is better than most other brands of cars.

Congratulation. Very nice car. Beautiful. Would never say that about a SUV. I seem that happy owners of Lexus stay with the brand. I also find that Lexus / Toyota are making great cars. Only Honda and Porsche will be able to be the other makes for us, but if the CT keep driving the way it does without any more expenses than fuel, service and tyres Lexus has a good chance to be first choice. Of course, it depends if the newer models keep the reliability factor on top.

Here petrol is still around 60% higher than in the good normal days so around 1.62€, but electricity is up 100%. We can still pay, but not all are that lucky. http://nsidc.org/greenland-today/ https://climate.nasa.gov/faq/30/if-all-of-earths-ice-melts-and-flows-into-the-ocean-what-would-happen-to-the-planets-rotation/
