  1. See what Colin answered to this Could be same thing.
  2. Seems that Lexus is keeping up the good work of making the worst software in the car industry. Navigation is garbage, update does not function. When asking for card updates, they expect clients are willing to pay 200 for a simple update, when a new map on micro-SD-card can be bought online for less than 40 and all you have to do is to take the old out and put the new in. Just wait till you no longer have free updates. Luckily there is nothing wrong with the hardware, so I guess we'll have to live with them not wanting to hire professional people to make their software.
  3. Possible - Yes. Legal - No.
  4. Lexus software is so bad that a 2017 cannot either. I downloaded an update in a USB and tried installing till I got tired and left it like that till next service. Next service I was told: there is no updates. I had one on the USB: they said it is not an update, it already is in the car. So why could I download it? Because Lexus do not know if cars are updated or not. Software no good. Hardware great. As long as software does not sho errors I think there is no - absolutely no - reason to try to update.
  5. Why is a politician supposedly intelligent? Do they have to pass a Mensa test to show they are above 140 - 120 - 100 - 80 IQ? Most politicians come from wealthy families and have been in "good" schools, because their family can afford that. Does that show that they are smart or that they have money?
  6. The one where the woman was charging an EV. She looked stupid enough to be a politician. Scotty is funny, but this only told us what we knew before. His voice is not that pleasant, but what he says is usually correct.
  7. If the socket fit, you have headlamp washing system and automatic levelling of headlamps they would have been legal in EU in 2005 when I stopped working. What happened since and how it is in UK I do not know. Also are main lamps low or high beam or combi? Canbus (if lamps are controlled by that) can behave strange as Halogen bulbs have different inner resistance than LED. Also, some LED have so much light output that it is possible to blind oncoming cars. Quite a lot to take care of, and it could be not very legal. In Denmark it was before 2000 legal and after 2000 only if accepted by car importer when I stopped working in car business 2005. Sold HID to some car importers.
  8. Forgot to mention that the USB drive is 64Gb formatted in exFat. No problems reading that.
  9. Tried the different audio file formats and only MP3 and m4a lossy are accepted on DVD, but only MP3 files could be read in USB in car. Best quality file format DVD could play was m4a FDK (AAC) in 512kbps. Still lossy, but better than highest possible in MP3 format. Somebody with influence could ask Lexus why they have great audio in the cars and their software is not able to read high quality audio files. Want to know about file formats, Cambridge Audio is a good place to go:
  10. Lexus is making great looking cars. You have a beautiful one and in a sweet colour.
  11. 61,8mm wide front wheel tyre on downhill bike.
  12. Have made a DVD and USB with 7 different audio file systems. Only 4 I consider really lossless and at least CD quality (meaning that you can copy from them without losing quality), Apple lossless and WAV plus 2 superior qualities, .flac 24-bit 192kHz and DSD same bitrate. Will try them tomorrow. Do not believe Lexus software is made with converters for high quality which is completely not understandable when they have put ML audio in the car.
  13. and the hideous London dust rain goes through my core and bones and into the parking brake. (from a song I heard long ago, do not remember much more) Except of course the parking brake was not in the song.
  14. Tubeless, Quadboss sealant (does not dry out even here when it is hot - latex based sealants last only a month or less here). Never needed to walk home. Except once when a friendly owner of a banana plantation gave me one of these
  15. I believe the extreme low temperatures mentioned must be for people living in Siberia with minus 50 or more Celsius. Was in Denmark when having minus 20 and had no problems with handbrake in a Nissan 300ZX
  16. I listened to half of this and saw 2 extremists where one was decent in language and behaviour but had rather extreme ideas of how people are living and pretended to favour the poor. The other is a complete idiot not able to control herself and saying nothing at all. Stopped halfway as no reason to waste time looking at it.
  17. Just really surprised that many here in the forum are using the park function as only parking brake when it is the same more or less in all automatic transmissions. Cannot understand why they do not want to use parking brake for parking, when that is why it is there.
  18. I believe that if you have a converter on the phone that can send a line-out signal you can have all the lossless and super high-quality recordings played in your car. Bluetooth system in our old cars very old and will probably not transfer anything higher quality than MP3 can deliver.
  19. CD is limited to 16 bit. DVD and Bluray disc can have higher quality lossless. Unfortunately the CT we have cannot read DVD with anything higher than MP3 320 kbps, which is far from lossless. DSD, .flac and other lossless can only play in the very great ML audio Lexus have in their cars if using line-in.
  20. Good advice in the video. Several here in the forum think that putting transmission in park is enough to keep the car as long as not in hills, but this is not correct. This video show the little thing that help holding the car in park. Here Lexus automatic change oil in transmission when around 80K km (calling it 90K service for whichever reason). No lubricant last forever, no matter who say so.
  21. Some of the places are very rocky with lava sharp as glass. Some other, would be possible. Do not see many horses here.
  22. That is the big problem with reviews. Who know what is genuine and what is not? Who is paid or working for the company? My experience is based on what I have been driving and I will not say that no other tyres are good, but will say that Continental make strong tyres that can be used on really rough roads. Had a MB350 in Africa where roads probably are a lot worse than in UK. Heavy and strong car and tyres and no flats where many other had worse luck. Continental bike tyres are as good as Maxxis (used by many professionals (have friends that are)) on not extreme trails; for downhill Schwalbe are better (in my opinion), but they do not make car tyres.
  23. I do not doubt that these people believe what they write. That does not change the fact that a compromise is what it is. And when not needing to have tyres that can drive in negative temperatures, who would be idiot enough to buy a compromise, that on top of that is more expensive than a tyre that is perfect for living here? By the way have been in car business many years and am sure of what I have learned. Different driving styles and different climate will not have same as best.
  24. Remember to have tried all lossless file types on DVD and think also having tried on USB stick, but will try again, when your RX can. Still, your car is 4 years newer and maybe having different software. The one we have has MM11 navigation with micro-SD-card, so more or less same. Easy to try. Will follow up.
  25. You have the sea around all of the island, just like we have here, only your island is larger. Here all year long sea is about 20°C and the island is then never really cold, only happened once on top of the mountain I have seen snow and that is 2000m above sea level. Temperature here at night is seldom below 15, so summer tyres all year. While still living in the cold north we had Continental winter tyres and in summer same brand. Maybe not the cheapest, but long living. When temperature got a bit too hot for winter tyres, we kept those still on as better drive slow on winter tyres even if not really needed, than suddenly find out it would have been better to keep the winter tyres on. Never had all season tyres, but sure that the German brand will have such also. But below minus 7 what then? Sometimes when road is minus just 5 and a bit of rain is falling because air is plus, ice can form quickly.
