Crease on leather dash trim for NX350h
Las Palmas replied to ApePat's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
Since then, the one-off RX has sort of disappeared from the internet. Perhaps it will surface again in a few years, and we can see what literally hundreds of miles of wear do to an all-vegan interior. https://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/2022/04/rare-rides-the-paul-mccartney-signature-edition-2006-lexus-rx-400h-one-of-one/ -
That is the price since the last several years: https://www.ebay.de/itm/266098883240?hash=item3df4babaa8:g:glUAAOSwi-5jzy4y&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAA8CyCEbEZ2OqcHwSUQk7v%2FGq1UdQjLFgzMRouB52Q3AWzhN6GtoaT%2B%2BGfp712P8YyMUJ%2FtyGz7SkSnUuP54JY%2BZJ3m6CTiPXq4p2j0BNzG81q0nT67yp3%2Fl3p%2BX0A4fNba5g%2F1%2FGzM9Li1dPiY2Ct8WlMDzllr1QOpORvo1Iow9NAfeTfr7KDTu2vOqY3IM6gI4QUfDFl%2Bgf4H0XFXIUM4xMYFWM9C3vtsWTKr0YqE9HEjsOtDMJnve0ivvm%2FF%2F7UUobMfuEyKn3uxejkO2cecaf7ZWSbwwaNIrKaSskK1joyoVVstlMlxMKcYfPrIMRreQ%3D%3D|tkp%3ABFBM_puP7tZh Only Lexus have a nice good looking garage and hopefully well paid personnel that they need to get working. https://www.ebay.de/itm/364156424815?hash=item54c96a126f:g:kXUAAOSwdH1jz3ar&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAA8IvaJLHIoG993iFomtUMJ%2FGDQanMDw5gwTt52l7MPSQ0tazpfX0RVgZw2hZjn8MIpOiBXLiNRg6%2B%2FNH9lbrwLG7aVWofSJTaz1k%2Fh6ngksNsP2aM3D64ugxiJ3gvGbHzKU2lAwHZY2kWs5SCsTqLMw4yX2VUzZuEMr0DprHbeWaqyp6fQ770e4kK8RQ8KkGCFBsQXaait3u45CEtKZmPL1%2B1cZ67bU44rvFrqSZcD08VP%2Bq%2Bs8DL0xrzr5omb%2FvENjTPNMI1CUz9yy7Z3ZU9ALvx%2B2l%2BEGHCk2clcfiCR0L5dR0BAnJogEKZszEhk%2FEtXg%3D%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR8Sbpu7WYQ

Las Palmas replied to Jakp's topic in RX 300 / RX 350h / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h+ / RX 500h Club
Should be possible. Take off the same part from the other side and have a mirrored similar made. -
Crease on leather dash trim for NX350h

Now that your car is very new you could easily tell you want problems fixed. If something more happens or you change your mind and want it fixed later, you may find it more difficult to have Lexus take your complaint serious. Leather comes from animals. The so-called leather in Lexus cars is made from something vegan, which is not from animals. https://www.mastermechanicsauto.com/category/lexus-repair/ -

I never thought about a diesel engine as fit for a race horse; more like a horse like these, strong and able to continue like forever:
-
I think the engine is the same as in some Toyotas and have friends working with Toyota in Denmark and they never told me anything about a bad diesel. Heard only that the D4D was superb. Why it has a bad reputation here on the forum could be because some bought mishandled cars and such cars never become friends with new owners. This engine? https://www.honestjohn.co.uk/toyota/avensis/2009/
-
Seems that buying a Toyota will be a better idea than a new Lexus from what I read here. All with the old cars are happy and too many with latest have various issues. It takes a long time to get a reputation and not very long to ruin it. Have only been in the CT and it is slightly better built than VW Golf DSG, not nearly as good as Honda Accord Coupé.

Tesla Model 3 Ditched for IS or ES?
Las Palmas replied to nickb2015's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Front wheel drive or rear wheel drive does not matter with the streets and speed limits we have. ES is for a big garage. The place we have is CT size. When you have been in a Lexus for 4 - 5 years, you are used to comfort and though battery cars may get better, maybe not like a Lexus. Friends in Denmark having electric cars are not happy except for the 2 that have solar cells and own charging place home. Here on sunshine island where cars do not need heating EV's have longer range than in cold countries. Gasoline here is down to 1.40€ for super 98 octane Shell V-Power and electricity is getting expensive, so for those that must pay for charging publicly real noiseless cars may be more expensive to drive; we use the power hungry electric machines mostly at night when price is almost OK. We keep the CT as long as hybrid battery is warranted and when the time come to change, there may be different possibilities and when BMW is going hard into hydrogen some will follow and then fuelling will be faster than charging a big battery. -
When your car can read ExFAT Lexus is moving forward. Unfortunately, ExFAT has same flaw as FAT32, losing and corrupting data. NTFS has been around since 2001 and that formatting method is so much better that losing data seems to be close to nor existing, so why Lexus will not make software able to read that as well as lossless audio files when they have ML audio is plain stupid. DVD-A seems to no longer be interesting enough to have programs converting to that, but the audio in movies is MP4 which is more or less the same as m4a and movies seldom have sound quality higher than m4a offer. When m4a does work fine in the car we have I am sure it will also in the new LC. Flac files are not recognised in the CT, but maybe you have more luck in a new LC.

32Gb USB, which is biggest size that can be formatted to the stupid old FAT32 format which is the only format Lexus think we shall use can have 130 hours of music in OK quality. Only problem with FAT32 is that it is prone to lose data and USB may disconnect when hitting a pothole. The DVD with 20 hours of reasonably good quality (twice as good as MP3 limited to max 320kbps) is enough for most tours. CD music discs can be extracted to DVD audio format m4a 512kbps in Foobar2000, free to use and no problems in it at all. Another super converter for music is Audacity, also free to use but if it was a paid program, I would still have it, not as easy to use as Foobar2000. If you have a lot of lossless music on computer you can convert up to 2000 tunes in one go in dbPoweramp, that will take quite a long time even in a powerful computer and dbPoweramp is a paid program. The DVD is the best way to listen to music in our cars if you do not want to have a lossless audio player connected with a cable to line-in in the car. Bluetooth in the 2017 model CT is not better than MP3. Think Lexus has a problem with installing new things as latest Bluetooth can transfer CD quality audio (1411kbps). When Lexus can install ML audio in the cars it is hard to understand the limits they imply in our using the quality Mark Levenson has helped with. Most streamed music like Spotify is so low quality that it is hard to understand that many people use that way to get entertained.

Bike racks
Las Palmas replied to Robert Parry's topic in Lexus RC Owners Club / RC 200t / RC 300h Club
No. Changed wheels to get forged very light wheels as I was considering using it for more fun than just driving around in it. Also changed to adjustable shock absorbers. Thought about a bit more power also, but in the end decided to just enjoy living here. And the car was really nice. No problems at all. Was handling just as well as the first generation MR2. Braid will make wheels to your specification. https://www.braid-wheels.com/ -
Bike racks
Las Palmas replied to Robert Parry's topic in Lexus RC Owners Club / RC 200t / RC 300h Club
Had such one on our Toyota MR2 Spyder. We had the 2 bike model. Think it will fit most cars. Did not damage the paint, solid rubber and decent straps. -
Poor car kit voice sound quality
Las Palmas replied to John Nooij's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Lexus software problems: The really great ML audio in our cars is unable to read the file systems that can deliver the audio quality that Mark Levinson offer. Why? Lexus use the FAT32 instead of NTFS formatting. That was understandable in 1990 but since Windows XT (2001) the far better NTFS has been available and all with a bit computer knowledge will know that is far better, does not easily corrupt and lose part of files and can easily be used on far bigger memory discs plus support larger files. FAT32 isn’t a journaling file system, which means that file system corruption can happen much more easily. With NTFS, changes are logged to a “journal” on the drive before they’re actually made. If the computer loses power in the middle of a file being written, the system won’t need a long scandisk operation to recover. FAT32 doesn’t support file permissions. With NTFS, file permissions allow for increased security. As we can see, there are very good reasons why Windows uses NTFS for system partitions. NTFS is more secure, robust, and supports larger file sizes and drives. -
That's a lot of miles. Guess I must have had bad luck then. 1 I kept half a year and the other less than a month. But then again, I also had a Supra 3.0L Targa that had orange light on the dashboard when driving faster than 160km/h and going to Toyota in Spain they could not look into it as they had not yet received manuals for the model, so went visit family in Denmark and Toyota there was almost same story, except they tried 2 days before giving up. When we came back home no more Toyota for a few years. Nissan 280ZX and 300ZX were lightyears better. Lexus quality.

18” wheels on RX mk3
Las Palmas replied to Vadim's topic in RX 300 / RX 350h / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h+ / RX 500h Club
Offset is about geometry in the steering gear. At least that is what car manufacturers tell, not about clearing. Changing steering geometry is not something I recommend. Many companies make tyres with rim protection. Nissan Navara is a truck. RX is in my opinion a car. A big one, but not a truck. But you are right that more air volume make softer suspension. -
Do you mean now or next car? Now : CT Next : hydrogen, which very much could be Toyota or Honda - less likely Hyundai or BMW.
