Nuts, for a spacesaver.
Las Palmas replied to Gordon McLea's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
Putting the valve stem back again after the sealant is in of course before adding air in the tyre (with Quadboss). I see no reason to have the valve in while putting liquid into the tyre. Cheap calculators that have a capacitor and a tiny battery in them and the capacitor is charged by something moving while shaking the calculator (makes a noise while doing it) has been around since more than 20 years. It is not my idea. It comes with a penalty of course, added weight. -
Anyone used a garden leaf blower to dry the car?

Enthusiast: No, just lazy and do not want to do something not necessary. My original question was what kind of sealant Lexus is using. After you told me that it is latex based, I just thought that it is stupid to use something that clogs up the whole system and is almost impossible to clean. I use Quadboss on mountain bike and there it is easy to remove the valve stem. On other cars I have had, valve stem is easy to remove. Never looked at it on our car but supposed that the valve stem was same as on all other valves and not special Lexus needing a special tool to remove it. Looked it up and found TPMS Sensor Valve Stem Service Kit for Toyota Looks to me like all the other valve stems I have seen. Is it not needed to take out the valve stem before using the inflation kit that is in the CT? Latex will definitely clog up the valve stem and make it less valuable after use meaning a new need to be put in if latex has been pressed through it. Is the valve stem in Lexus different to other Schrader valve stems? Another question: How often are batteries for TPMS system to be changed? Suppose they do not last forever or are being charged by the rotation of the wheels? That would be smart. -

You have a bigger car and room for a spare wheel. A CT200h does not. The sealant is to be put in the wheels before, but it does a good job after a puncture too. Remove the valve stem, use the tube (that come with the sealant) it fit over the valve and pour in the half litre. Put the valve stem back in place and if you know where the hole is, turn the wheel till the hole points down. If you do not know where the hole is it probably is not that big. Inflate the tyre, drive a couple of kilometres and control if tyre pressure is still ok, if needed add some pressure. It is meant to last a race in desert with thorns and sharp stones so probably will be able to get the car to a place where a new tyre can be put on. The sealant has brought me home from tours where thorns (big ones we have here) are abundant and the lava rubble is often sharp as razorblades. Most bikers with tubes have needed new tubes or repairing the tubes. The only time I had to walk home with tubeless sealant was before I knew the Quadboss and I was using the latex that many still use. In a mountain bike latex often seal the hole, but in warm climate it dries out in a couple of months and new sealant is to be injected. If latex comes spraying to your clothes (hole in rear tyre) it cannot be washed out. It can be washed away with water. No trace on the tyre, so probably no trace on the TPMS valve. Probably less damaging than the latex. Washed it off after having it in the wheel more than a year. Should I get a leak I will use the Quadboss instead of the impossible to clean latex mixture. On top of that I have used Quadboss that was more than 5 years old on the bike and it was still functioning. -

That is what I was afraid of. Stupid that Lexus is using latex as there are more suitable sealants for sealing tyres. Quadboss is used for off road 4x4 buggies and trucks and it is washable with just water. I know as I have used it for mountain bike the last more than 10 years. it seals everything up to 6mm. Have had 3 thorns in a tyre and noticed nothing till I got home and saw the thorns and a little bubble of whatever it was from the sealant. Like all other sealants this is no good for long tears but little holes from flintstones, glass, nails, rocks and whatever that makes no larger than 6mm holes will be sealed immediately. -

If it can blow leafs away, raindrops should not be a problem. There should be some kind of filter on the intake so you don't blow anything more than air on the car. -

Anybody know if the injectable liquid is wahs away with water possible or does it contain latex making an awful mess out of everything? -

Can find 2 codes but from new bikes and might be different to my old 2009 bike. One year it is called Lamborine orange but without colour code. 2013 they call it Eddy Orange with code: PMS 151. American made bike and paint. Have seen several orange bikes and all looked same colour. Do not think they all were equally old so PMS 151 could be right. When transforming 151C to icolorpalette it is #FF8200. -

Neither am I, but no problem in painting the car in the colour of the callipers if it is important to have same colour. -

No idea what can be made resisting heat, but sure the colour of the callipers can be made to paint the car if needed. If matte is wanted. -

Same colour can be matte or gloss, used colour picker in Photoshop or Xara Designer Pro. If colour is pearl it has several colours in it and that I cannot see on the picture, it seems that only light is making the colour change different places on the body. 62 magenta and 98 - 100 yellow. No trace of either cyan or black except in shadows. -

Found this 2016 picture and to me it seems that Lexus has painted the car in the colour of the callipers. You may be satisfied. My colour picker tell colour is same. Beautiful car. -

Honda NSX is what you need? Does not look bad and supposedly more reliable than Ferrari with most of the qualities it seems you are looking for. Have not tried one but find they look nice as well as the one you do not like from Lexus. -
I have had 1 car with air conditioning problems (Honda Accord Coupé). I would go to an expert in air con systems instead of Lexus unless it is to be fixed under warranty. The only air con center I know of that have competent people is Waeco. Maybe they have a center or 2 in UK. I worked with MB, Toyota and VW and all were doing air con service, but if something was not mentioned in the service manuals and easily fixed we had Waeco take care of it. Retired 16 years ago, but suppose they still are good at what they do. No I do not and did not work for Waeco. A stupid question: You have the temperature selector set to cold? Sorry! I did not mean it.

Pressure 2.3 according to handbook with 17" wheels 215/45. If light does not go out with correct pressure look in handbook and reset.

Is there no factory warrant from Lexus Japan that overrule the local differences?
-
That is more or less same as us when driving with AC on and follow traffic. And happy with it. Why factories (all of them) are permitted to bull...t us is what I do not like. The morons that permit that way of testing should be handed another job. Cleaning beaches when oil is spilled and other meaningful jobs like that. I rarely drive faster than 100km/h on motorway and 50 - 60 on small roads and in town. I hate to get fines and being booked by police since I retired, so should not have elevated use of fuel. That I have polluted enough with the big-engine cars I used to drive as fast I thought I could get away with, and usually was lucky was one of the reasons for a hybrid. If it is right that the extra load of a battery and electric motor really helps on reducing fuel consumption or only gives the little engine more power when using the electric engine as a booster I do not know. That Toyota on their web page tell us indirectly that they are not telling the truth in the ads for cars is not really admirably. Should they instead tell what they know? Toyota here told us that the CT, we have, should be able to drive 100km and use only 3.8L. Probably it is a good thing for us that Toyota show so very low consumption and pollution and get away with it. If real use data were shown we would have to pay more in taxes. Now we only pay pollution-tax for the manufactured data and yes: we must be happy with that.
-
Pretty stupid or not? Nobody seems to care. That is depressing. They are allowed to bull...t us. Hope the German John told about win the case and we can get some better data.

It is not that I do not know the figures are not to be believed. I am just surprised that everybody think this is OK. I do not.
