It probably has gone, I would be surprised if is not.

I would not expect tyres to be new, but I would not expect them to require immediate replacement either. If latter, then it would be reasonable to point that out. Clearly owner does not thin that replacement is needed, else I would expect that to be listed. Especially if he already listed broken screen, then I would assume he would list all other issues as well.

When I say android replacement I mean completely new head unit and throw obsolete Lexus tech in to the bin. Something like this:

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/10-1Inch-Indash-Android-Navigation-Bluetooth/dp/B07SJD48XF

I agree, that having anything broken on the car is not ideal when selling as that automatically attracts negative attention and drives down the interest. Hence I assume owner is in the rush to sell, so that he can be bothered fixing the screen and probably putting the price-up to £14.5k

Actually, the other theory is that he as mentioned wants to move to bigger car, so possibly he rock-bottom PX value on IS-F and even selling it for £12k is better than PX'ing it for £8k. He probably has some car he wants to pick-up and don't want deal to go away, hence quick sale. Obviously, complete speculation.

Will this work on the ISF? The years match mine, but I didn't know if the F had a different set up to a standard IS. I'm still in the early days of getting to know this model and the potential changes.

My RC first year insurance was £1400 and that is just 2L turbo vacuum cleaner. IS250 was £680 and I considered that to be cheap. Just the case of living in London I guess. I kind of hated myself for no getting RC-F, but when I think about it I probably would not be able to insure it at all.

Ahhh yeah I see. I'm about 60 miles north in what is probably seen as a sleepier part of the UK! In fact for me the F turned out to be cheaper than my GS430, which when I was starting to look at quotes for an F, shocked and surprised me. Being in my late 30's will help and my profession too. There's lots of factors too such as a locked garage for storage, low miles threshold as the car is for fun mainly. I will never understand insurance though. I'm sure they make it up on the spot lol!

Again I don't think running costs are the issue, but punitive insurance and road tax is. The above would really make sense in different country or maybe one day when we have "per mile" insurance and tax. Now the IS-F would cost me £2000 just parked and under cover.

Which is why you don't have one. I do the grand total of 2 to 3k a year miles wise (all fun). I'll happily spend £1k a year taxing and insuring my car as the fun of driving them supersedes the cost. Personally, the joy of taking out a car I love would be the same high that someone gets spending £250 a weekend on going out clubbing and drinking. My hobby, taking into account my earnings, is a tiny drop in the ocean. Everything is relative I suppose.

*edit* I also agree with the 'pay per mile' as that would make our cars in the household, even cheaper to run as has already been said, my partner has become more 'work at home' based and pay per mile would really suit her.

  4. Ceramic coating (the proper stuff), is an amazing product and worth the cost. If you're like me and anal about paint and the condition of the car, ceramics a great way to protect you from tree sap, bird lime, poor washing techniques and generic issues related to making cleaning a car a laborious job. I detail my car and others (not my main profession) and ceramic coatings are just fantastic when it comes to cleaning. Makes the job a dream.

  5. I guess like all things it's down to preference. Personally the GSF styling does nothing for me. The only advantage would be the 5th seat, but there are plenty of other 5 seaters I'd choose first (other marks included). I think the RCF is nice but doesn't suit my lifestyle and again, the big grill front end is a bit 50 50 for me.

The ISF in its current form does it for me, style and shape wise. It might not be the best out of the block with its performance, but no car stays standard for me, so that's never been an issue. It also fits around my lifestyle and works better in the garage than it's bigger cousin the GS.

All-in-all, they're all fantastic cars and with the ultimate selling point, reliability!!

Ive always uaed bilstein on my cars in the past and these are better for me because the ride can be adjusted so much its hugely noticeable and instant with the in car control, id 100 percent recommend them. Think ive put around 4000 miles on them a few month ago i had the car up on ramps with wheels off to give it a steam clean they still looked brand new.

Yep plastic welded a piece of the same grade abs into the holes and smoothed over, im actually thinking of spraying it in the summer but with a very  light blue coating the same as the f logo blue pearl over the white.

    Clever stuff man.

I need to do the same.

    Good morning all,

I did indeed view this, and take the advice offered..  As the ISF as a model appears to be appreciating, and it had been my dream car for as long I had had known about them, I thought now was about the right time to buy.

The choices at the time for about this price were this for 22k (2012 48k miles), a titanium with white interior for 23.5k (2012, 58k miles) or a 2010 in black for 22k (32k miles). I saw this red and loved it. All the work mentioned previously had been remedied, and I bought it with a bit of a discount, a Lexus service and delivery thrown in. I have also got a service plan and a Lexus warranty(unlikely to be used I believe, but you never know!)

Once I got car back, and had it ceramically coated (at Fresh layers in Chichester, if you're interested to know) you can see the results for yourself below!

An amazing car to drive, and I've had a few admiring comments already... I really love the Q car, and love that not many people know what it actually is!!

My DD is a LS430, so I get the best of both worlds... long live the L1888372871_IMG_20210205_131236(1).thumb.jpg.6664b55cc6497dde4134b3ccf6e6c009.jpgexus V8!

Great purchase and well done. I did see it on AT but in the end I found a USB ISF which was my preferred colour. I'm glad its worked out for you and that coating has worked wonders 👍🏼

I know that car and it’s previous owner, he’s known to a few on here from meets (Ryo) he’s a Japanese mate of mine, everything on that car has been done at Milton Keynes Lexus, the only fault that I know of was when he bought his new GSF he gave this to his (now ex wife).....and she pretty much kerb all the wheels, she sold it last year to this owner, it “was” a great car but obviously I don’t know between then and now.

Ahh ok. I'm by no means knocking it, I was interested but something just didn't seam right. I think it was the modification to the rear seat (which I know the ad states they have the standard one), but it was just odd. Plus the miles were too high. I'm sure it's a nice example.
