  1. I don't know, hence the frustration, leading to giving up. And the app itself is pretty poor, especially the laughable find my car feature. So far it mainly thinks it's 9 doors down, and on occasion it thinks the car is across town and on the move, when it's locked away in the garage.
  2. yep, all that, still nothing. Just gave up in the end, it's a nicety, but not a necessity for me.
  3. £900! That's almost double what I have been quoted, WOW.
  4. HUD? Or the direction display between the "analogue" dials? If the latter that only works with the built in SATNAV
  5. When sending to the car from the app. I use my home Wi-Fi, the car is on, connected to the same Wi-Fi and nothing.........................ever
  6. I have it on my 2020 NX. Plan the route, send it to the car, states it is successful, then in the car, can't find the saved route anywhere. So gave up, went back to WAZE desktop, sends it to my phone, CarPlay, and off I go on my travels. The app is rubbish
  7. I could, but don't want to.
  8. I'm guessing the FWD NX is no where near as popular as the AWD version, so available more readily, besides which it's a simpler car to manufacture
  9. And you believed a salesman? They sell cars, even to people who aren't buying! They will tell you anything to get you on side, be your buddy, to take what they say with anything but a pinch of salt is naive. When part-exing my tired old SAAB 9000 I had a Honda sales rep tell me I've made the right choice, that their cars are better (without quantifying how) than SAAB, as Honda only make cars, and SAAB make jet fighters and buses (not busii) and know nothing about car manufacturing. I laughed in his face and went to Mitsubishi instead.
  10. Ahh the K.I.S.S. methodology. Each to their own, although wrong, I will defend your right to be wrong under the freedom of expression
  11. That privilege is reserved for Guardian journalists, they also get the extra privilege of not having to spell words correctly too.
  12. The extras come as packs as it cuts down on production costs, as the factory only has to build a set number of versions. The Tahara (synthetic leather) is black as standard, the extra gives you a choice of dark rose or black If all the extras were mix 'n' match it would mean that potentially every car would have to be a bespoke build. After all it's a Lexus not a Bentley.
  13. Yep, I had one as part of the deal when buying the car new, 3 years are up and I will be enquiring about the next period of time (how ever long that is) saves a lot of hassle. And, at the monthly cost the money isn't missed.
  14. Insurance claim, or paid outright? Just curious regarding the cost.
  15. I wasn't sure which route to go, but decided to go to the dealer due to all the electronic gubbins in the screen. The impression I got from making the booking is that they get Autoglass or equivalent in to do it for them. Either way the car will still be at Lexus so they can check that all the electronics are connected up and working correctly before I pick it up.
  16. £600 for an annual service, expensive? Not at all in my opinion, to keep such a technological car running on top condition is only £1.64 a day, less than a barista style coffee from any outlet. I just seems a lot as it's in one hit, and yes they will carry out all the work and do it well (most dealers anyway) as the work is covered by the rolling manufacturer's warranty, so anything missed would have to be sorted for free anyway. https://media.lexus.co.uk/lexus-offers-customers-unprecedented-warranty-cover-with-new-relax-programme/
  17. And now we have the answer. The plural of “Lexus” is “Lexuses.” The brand name isn’t derived from Latin, contrary to popular belief, but was an invention of the Toyota Motor Corporation. In a history of the car, Lexus:The Relentless Pursuit (2011), Chester Dawson writes that “Lexus” was a shortening (and a respelling) of an earlier choice for the brand name: “Alexis.” In 1986 a New York consulting firm, Lippincott & Margulies, gave Toyota “a master list of 219 potential names,” Dawson says, and Toyota officials eventually narrowed the list to five. Of these, the favorite was “Alexis,” the author writes, but that “sounded like the name of a person, not a car.” What’s more, Dawson says, it reminded some Toyota officials of a “femme fatale” character in the TV show Dynasty. (Joan Collins originated the role of Alexis Colby.) After a little fiddling, Dawson writes, “the group stumbled upon the neologism Lexus.” How should this linguistic creation be pluralized in English? Like any other noun ending in “s,” it’s made plural by adding “es”—hence, “Lexuses.” But a bit of googling suggests that a lot of people, including many Lexus owners, mistakenly believe the word is Latin and should be pluralized as “Lexi.” In fact, Dawson writes, a comedian on a popular BBC radio series “made a running gag of the plural neologism ‘Lexi.’ ” And that’s today’s lesson in lexi-cography!

  19. I did....almost. Coffee, nibbles, taken into the hand over lounge. No red carpet here they had a mirrored floor so you can see how immaculately clean the car is underneath. Got shown round the car inside and out, sign the papers, photos take of me with the car outside, hand shakes, small talk then drive away. 'Twas a pleasant afternoon it was.
  20. It might be just me. But, has anyone else have the issue of the windscreen glass being very prone to scratching? I've had to book mine in for a new one just after 2.5 years of ownership, from new, with less than 16k on the clock. I will be getting a new windscreen and all the wiper blades change for a mere £560.00 OUCH!!
  21. They may not be secure as other devices, but they do provide a visual deterrent for some as well as an inconvenience and add exposure time for the thieving toerags. Add the disklok, the OEM alarm and immobiliser it all helps.
  22. Wheel clamp on the way, Disklok is not grey, but with the steering wheel cover, carry bag and RFID key wallet thrown in all for £149.00
  23. I like the suggestion but it's a non starter. Parking charge is only £18 for 3 days. Taxi would be £500+ due to the distance (I'm not messing about with public transport) And with a Hire car I'd still have to park it, so it's the cost of parking + car hire
  24. Thanks for the info, most useful. Decided on. a Disklok (yellow) and a wheel clamp.
