  1. Even NCD protection these days means practically nothing, it certainly doesn't prevent an increase in premium each year let alone after a claim. It's nothing short of scandalous. And this will make you laugh. When negotiating my renewal earlier this month I found that if I increased my voluntary excess my premium increased too! Work that one out! 🤔
  2. Serves you right for gloating! 🤣
  3. Thanks for that Paul. I realise in the end that how and how often one drives does relate to the longevity of tread but 10k is in stark contrast to my previous life when I would travel 30k miles per annum (mainly motorway) and be reliant upon the same set of Goodyears on my Peugeot diesel, no bother at all. Bob Dylan was right, times they are a-changing. 😊
  4. Thanks John, but I think perception will do me just fine 😉 .
  5. I think this needs more clarification. We may be discussing semantics here but my understanding (having briefly researched) is that a 3db gain does indeed represent twice the power, but the threshold of perception to the human ear is somewhat different and so does not have the effect of being twice as loud. Or is this not what you meant? 🤔
  6. That's interesting Paul. Why do you say not the best mileage ... your experience or advertised tyre rating? I recently bought my 400h with 4x18" Avons fitted, oddly one AS7 all weather and three ZX7. The previous owner liked them as he found them 'quiet'. Frankly I'm not too sure whether the difference between 69 and 72dbs would bother me that much but I am interested in the longevity and wear.
  7. Good spot John. Strong price or what? Can't see it making that ... but what do I know? 🤷‍♂️
  8. I am a great supporter of a 5th wheel option, small or standard, as I would never dream of calling out the RAC for something that I could manage to rectify myself.
  9. All very true Len, although I'm not so bothered about the speed restriction on the spacesaver which is perhaps more of a concern for the constant long distance traveller, of which I am not one. My IS250 experienced two punctures in my two years of ownership and of course, given the variable wheel sizes, a spacesaver is the only answer. Unless you have the 250C with runflats and no spare at all, very inconvenient in my opinion.
  10. I've already contributed on here as an RX new boy and am very much enjoying the ride 😉 . I've also had a quick search for an answer to my new question but with no luck. I'm planning to replace some tyres soon and am thinking that it might be an opportunity to pop the fifth (spare) 18" alloy in the garage and buy a spacesaver. My thinking is to reduce weight and maybe ever so slightly improve performance and economy, albeit negligible (perhaps). How about it? Does a spacesaver fit the undercarriage contraption? Any disadvantages? Or is this a not so brilliant idea with no legs? 🤔
  11. Haha ... and there I was thinking it was just me that had nothing better to do 😂 .
  12. ... which I can believe, as it happened in my case, but it rather defies logic when the vehicle is used daily and then confronted with exact same contrary cold conditions night after night. 🤔
  13. Since my last post and also having read the link kindly supplied by Bill on 18 Jan, I thoroughly cleaned the interior glass and set the climate control to 'auto', a/c 'off' and air circulation set to 'external'. Despite continuing sub-zero temperatures overnight there was no more condensation. The car was then much more thoroughly cleaned inside and out by my detailer on the 30th and having maintained the above climate control settings the condensation has entirely disappeared. I guess that to have been completely scientific I could have introduced these adjustments one by one but frankly my first aim was to rid the interior screen of all condensation (without having to resort to the dehumidifier bag) which, thankfully, I have now done. Happy days are here again! 😁
  14. My RX400h had new rear brake pads fitted 20 miles before I bought the car 7 weeks ago. The play on the parking brake goes almost to the floor and I was surprised that it wasn't adjusted at the same time but it may not be as straight forward as it is on the IS250. We'll see on Wednesday as it's booked in to my Indy for adjustment.
  15. You're nearly there. I've reeled you in so now it's time to let you off the hook. Perhaps I was expecting too much but it was a bit of fun to see if anyone has a honed eye for tyre treads. It's being overly meticulous but the left n/s tyre is the 'oddity' as it's a 4-Season, the other three are summer tyres! I know I know ... "how on earth am I supposed to spot that?", especially as the o/s front tread is hardly noticeable in the pic. But hey, if like me you've been watching Silent Witness then maybe now is the time to be a bit more forensically inclined! Thank you all for your interest, I shall be looking at tyre prices over the weeks ahead and must decide what to do to even things up. 😉
  16. Another no, that's not it Peter. I'm beginning to think that I'm being too picky and expecting too much, perhaps being a bit too optimistic about the power of the inquisitive observer, especially as it took me a while to notice it and even then only after closer examination. I think it's time for a final clue ... which is that this oddity is touching the ground (where angels fear to tread).
  17. I see what you mean Bill but no, that is indeed the light playing tricks with your eyes.
  18. Once again Peter I think you'll find that to be standard for the model. No, the oddity to which I'm referring is something that is not normal and yet something that can be changed - and indeed will be in due course. If you watch Silent Witness, try to put yourself in their shoes and be a bit more forensic.
  19. Nope. That too is standard for the model I believe.
  20. Sadly I don't believe that would be considered 'odd' Barry, the emblem says 'Great Britain' under the Union flag so not uncommon. Do bear in mind I mentioned that it's confined to the first (front) pic but that's not to suggest by referring to the rear view it might not give you a clue. PS - it will help to enlarge (click on) the pic to provide greater detail.
  21. Nope. I believe that's common to the model range too David.
  22. I don't like those that 'stick' on the dash as they will undoubtedly leave an ugly mark when removed. There are many holders that lock onto the air vents. I used one in my IS250 and now in my RX and it hardly inhibits air flow at all. Here's an option for you for under a tenner ... https://www.amazon.co.uk/Rainway-Upgrade-Anti-Shake-360°Rotation-Compatible/dp/B0B1TTM7ML/ref=sr_1_3?crid=1U9AN2SP8Z4RA&keywords=rainway+car+phone+holder&qid=1675175285&sprefix=rainway+car+phone+holder%2Caps%2C83&sr=8-3
  23. Just click on the 3-dashes top right of your post and select the option ...
  24. Sadiq Khan's traffic plans for London are pure revenue raisers as TfL has been mismanaged and is in huge debt. TfL admits that reducing speed restrictions will increase fine income, indeed they have targeted a figure of 1 million prosecutions per year for speeding. The extension of the ULEZ zone is another revenue raiser but the ramifications to all low income earners and small businesses will be crippling. The Mayor doesn't care, he simply wants to show that he can balance the books before he leaves office. It's illogical, unnecessary, impractical and down right undemocratic as most citizens in London Boroughs will agree.
  25. I think you may be referring to the indicator repeater on the door Bill, that seems to be common to the model. No ... the clue is in the word 'odd' and, trust me, you do have to look hard for it. But then it is quite big! 🤔 ... and it's only in the first pic!
