There's no question that those treads are perfectly legal, just that the inner wear is clearly greater than the outer as is particularly evident from the first pic which has rightly prompted the OP to think that alignment would not be a bad idea. An objective observation with which it is surely difficult to disagree.

Haha ... there's just two highly sceptical views of Kwik Fit and I don't blame them for many branches seem to work on a commission structure for fault finding! 🤨 I think the general view is to politely deflect any other recommendations that the Kwik Fitters suggest, claim a shortage of time but ask them to kindly put the faults in writing so that you can be reminded for next time. Chances are that at this point they will suddenly begin to back-track (no pun intended). 😀 After all, you may not have an alternative option for a wheel alignment facility in your area. 🤔

Cheers 'Noo bie'. Mileage on mine has only just crept into the 30's but without ML, satnav and sun(moon)roof so I'd be very happy with even £5k as that would be more than I paid for it. I can't imagine that there will be too many out there with lower mileage even if I keep it a while, well serviced and valeted naturally, and also add a few k miles. 😉

Looks to me to be a good, clean and well looked after low mileage example. Not too many about like that with Mark Levinson, SatNav and sunroof. Only thought would be to check both rear tyres as they were marked down as advisories less than 1k miles ago. Reading his ad the seller would never sell as low as £3k but if you can get it for that it would be an absolute steal. I disagree with John's research re pricing, I think it's worth well over £4k in fact I'd probably pay £4500 for that and maybe slightly more if it's got 2x new rear tyres. And PS ... it IS ULEZ compliant!

"spend all summer completely legally driving" and then "service it and put it into storage" (your exact words!). Not only will no insurance cover that arrangement (without a false declaration - ie. fraud) but the vehicle will be considered imported and will need to be UK registered and licensed after 6 months. 😉 I think you're trying to wriggle out of a situation that you don't quite understand by creating false diversions rather than simply admitting that you're wrong. 😯 It's a scam.

You then have to pay to set up a (Limited) Company in the CI and legitimise it each year with (trading) accounts. As a Director of this Company you buy a car, registered in the CI, and sell it to the Company so it can then rent it back to you? Or maybe the Company buys it. 🤨 And you now say that the car is kept permanently in the UK, both in store and on the road ... so even if you could insure it in the CI (which somehow I doubt!) the underwriters would quote you a premium for UK use ... so no saving there then. 😉 You would also then be obliged to declare that the car is actually a permanent import from the CI ... so it then becomes subject to VAT and road tax and UK law regarding number plate regulations ... so no savings there then either. 😔 I just don't get where you're coming from at all! 😲🤔😲

I did try and make sense of it, honest! ... but it just didn't happen 😂 . It' looks like a cunning plan but I think you'll find that it's not permitted on a permanent basis (which I think is what you were implying) under both HMRC and DVLA regulations. Temporary or periodic rental then yes, no problem but only within certain time constraints. 😉 As for post-Brexit, the terms relating to car rental in or out of the EU have indeed slightly changed depending upon which Countries you visit and for how long. It would need one of your multi-page answers to clarify that one ... but please don't! 🤐😄

Possible but illegal! Blimey, where's this thread going next ... 😁 John in Las Palmas ... The colour of plates are set by law depending upon the Country you live in! In the UK all fronts are reflective white and rears are yellow, both with black characters ... unless the car was registered before 1975 in which case black with silver lettering is acceptable. 😉 Linas ... As for registering a car in Jersey and driving it on mainland roads ... that's OK for visiting providing you have proof of Channel Island residency ... but not an option if you live on the mainland as it then needs to conform with DVLA rules which includes payment of VAT (if purchased in the CI) and having a valid MOT. Sorry Linas ... nice try! 😉
