  1. I agree with you Herbie, just hope the AA guy doesn't have a sideline as an electrician 😲.
  2. It would indeed be interesting if I could understand the context and what it means. Does it apply to the registration or to the vehicle or both? Does the origin of that info make it any clearer? Could you possibly expand on that research please John? Appreciated.
  3. Suspiciously cheap option AND it's been on AT for quite a while ... https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202109087131501 Wrong plates for an '09 car that are not even vanity, for me anyway. Asked for service history and reply was that there's no service book and the vendor only has knowledge of two services, 2018 and the one they've just carried out themselves. I'm thinking far too risky and methinks others may have thought the same hence the price.
  4. THAT is in every respect alarming and unbelievable ... or do I mean believable? 😲 The incredulity of Dealerships never ceases to amaze me ... which is why I never use them! 🙂 PS ... If they had offered you front tyres, I wonder if they'd have sold you 245s? 😄
  5. I've only been a Lexus owner for 14 months so am a relative newbie BUT I did notice on my car's MOT history before I bought it ... and I kid you not :- "Front tyre(s) of different sizes are fitted on the same axle" "Rear tyre(s) of different sizes are fitted on the same axle" Obviously a FAIL! So beware, there are some right numpties out there looking after vehicles ... 🙄
  6. Susie 😛
  7. Hi Lee ... agree with Len, most definitely 245s on the rear and 225s on the front. You will surely notice a difference in handling once you've switched them over. I cannot imagine why they're on the wrong axles 😲 , steer well clear of the garage that did that! Agree with John too. The (91)(99) is the load index and relates to the recommended maximum carrying capacity so unless you're regularly filling your boot with seriously heavy luggage I might suggest that this index is almost irrelevant. That said, if you're using the car as a taxi (unlikely as the rear leg space isn't conducive nor is the economy) then perhaps (99) might be better than (91). As for brands ... you can't go wrong with Goodyear Eagles but shop around. Try BlackCircles.com for example ... (£64.39 front) (£114.70 rear) ... total £358.18 fitted.
  8. Not sure if anyone on here can reassure you Graeme. There's often ambiguity in these things as the .gov site does indeed state 'engines made' and not 'vehicles registered'. Maybe Lexus might help 🤔 ... although they're often thought to be top of the league in terms of ambiguity themselves 🙄. Suggest you give 'em a try. Good luck 🤞.
  9. Don't beat yourself up John, I haven't stretched my IS's legs for weeks 🙄 ! Not seen a clear length of A-road let alone a motorway for a long while and it's no more than 25-26mpg for me 🤷‍♂️ ! Note to self ... must get out more! 😜
  10. Cheers John. 3 months warranty was advertised but I'm not following this one up as I think both the cost and mileage are too high for my liking. After all, I'm not frantic to change and if/when I do the deal needs to tick all my boxes so I'll wait and see what else, if anything, turns my head. Meanwhile this thread has been useful so thanks again to all contributors. 👍
  11. Thanks John ... yes, I'm looking at the Peterborough car, interesting that it was your second choice so first choice must have been better ... mileage presumably? And maybe cost? I'm in two minds over both the mileage and the cost of this one but then the market dictates I guess. The vendor has sent me photos of the service book showing a couple of suspect years (2017 & 18) and then latterly by Automark who I gather are Toyota specialists. If I'm going to take it further I'll need to check invoices/receipts. It also has run-flats fitted so therefore it must be fitted with TPMS. Having searched on here it would seem that all 250Cs are fitted with TPMS so presumably I'm unlikely to find a model without run-flats. Something I wasn't expecting as there appears to be room allocated for a space saver.
  12. Yeah cheers Dave, the reg number's shown in the photos so I've checked MOTs. Failed due to offside coil spring fractured or broken in Oct '20 and major exhaust leak in 2017 so I think I can safely assume that those parts have been replaced as 11/20 and 10/21 were both green passes. Seems to have done 'regular' annual mileage too but I'm going to ask for photos of the Service Book and also the spare wheel as the last one I saw (as previously mentioned) had runflats and no spare which I certainly don't want. And yes, maybe not a good time to buy but mine has increased in value since I bought it in Nov '20 so swings and roundabouts if I can get a deal done. We'll see.
  13. I have to agree with Linas, given my brief (13 months) experience with this model I wouldn't say that it's ideal for towing. When I bought mine it had a Witter tow bar fitted (see pic), didn't like the look, didn't need the appliance ... so sold it on here to someone who wanted it (so you're not alone Alan!) ...
  14. Is it me or are second hand car prices going bonkers? Here's a lovely looking IS250C but with 91k miles and at nearly £8.5k ... what does that make my '06 4-dr worth with 33k on the clock? https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202111209788699? Seriously thinking about this but a bit worried about the high mileage ... any advice guys?
  15. According to my local Lexus Stealer the answer is a very definite NO!
  16. Excellent feedback, many thanks guys, positive food for thought. 👍 The only reason I mentioned runflats was because I dropped by to see an AutoTrader sale 4 weeks ago and it had all runflats and no spare, but the garage did show me the 'empty' space under the boot floor. In fact it's still for sale (59 reg, 84k) at £8975 which I thought was a tad on the high side ... but maybe I'm wrong. 🤔 I get your point about pricing too Declan. I've only had my 06 for 13 months and I reckon it's probably gone up a few hundred squids, especially with the very low mileage (32k). 🤫 Good news about the reliability of the roof although I'm sure there must be someone out there who's had problems, I wonder if it's a serviceable item or can you just let it be? And yes, I guess dropping the roof with something in the space it needs would indeed be dramatic, rather surprising that the manufacturers didn't build in a warning system of some kind but then maybe that's too futuristic for back then. Thanks again fellas. 👏 PS ... interesting point about the paddleshift Declan, I didn't know that but it does indeed sound useful.
  17. Mine's E10 incompatible so you might be following my drift. I like the car and the drive it provides, most especially the low maintenance cost, but I'm now pondering a switch to a 250C thus avoiding the potential or even the inevitable future rarity of E5 not to mention the increasingly ridiculous high cost of filling up 😳. I like the idea of wider doors but realise that for parking it might require more strategy. Not overly bothered about the radio/satnav variants but, for example, are all the 'C's SE-Ls? Do they all come with run-flats as standard? Rear parking camera? Same engine I presume although next generation from mine I guess? Any enhancements I should know of or be wary about when looking? 🤔 Perhaps what worries me most is the failure of the complex electrics that combine to operate the roof, otherwise my choice might be more simple. Maybe. All views welcome taking into account the obvious (doors, restricted boot space with top down) are there any major issues to consider? The rear seating looks just about the same space-wise except it's for 2 only, don't mind that as the back seats are rarely used. The boot space with top UP looks huge (great for golf clubs & trolley). 😉 And please nobody suggest that I simply upgrade to a compatible 4-door ... I just like the idea of a change and a convertible appeals. 😁
  18. Hamilton is a great driver, one of the best, especially in the modern era ... but he is so needy, always thanking the crowd and craving applause in his podium chats. I think he knows that he's not appreciated away from the UK and is desperate for that to change so he can be liked by everyone. Never a Knight of the Realm either, I do think that could have waited at least another 20 years if at all. Don't go along with sportsmen being knighted at such a young age, waste of a good gong. Murray and Farah are two other examples, ridiculous. Better to let them wait, to prove themselves as ambassadors of their sport as well as high achievers, like Sir Brendan Foster, Sir Bobby Charlton and many others.
  19. Inglecranny 🤦‍♂️
  20. As a matter of interest Pete, from whom did you hear that?
  21. Of course John (of the Rovers) is quite right in that no meaningful difference will show after just one tank. That said it's all personal experience, research and depth of pocket that will decide what fuel each of us chooses to use ... except, that is, when you have a model that is not compatible with E10. Like me! 🙄
