ALAW replied to Zotto's topic in Lexus Audio/Video/Electronics/Security
It might not be what your after Luigi. I spoke with the Lexus connectivity guys about various connectivity Updates etc. They told me maps is updated twice a year spring and Autumn. Not seen sight of latest one yet though. Anyhow the number to ring at Lexus connectivity is 01737 367026 i think there are two lads who handle this service Jack and Craig I'm sure they will help you if they cant they will know someone who can, give em a go hope this helps and good luck. -
Honest John on his forum used to say this was the future.

I recently got FWD F Sport premium plus with driver assist end of Sept 20. My 1st hybrid. Regarding the boot size it sounds like you know what your demands and needs are so you will be fine. The FWD version has more space than the AWD a bowl provides more space under the lift up. Someone on this forum has removed the bowl and put a lidl boot liner in. Incidentally these Lidl boot liners are in store right now. The boot has more space than what you imagine first looking and there are a couple of side pockets as well and don't forget you can easily put the seats down if you want more space. I have the paddles but never use them i never used them on the Audi i had. I didn't want the glass roof. I have the large nav screen its very good and you can customize it to show different things with the screen split very useful. I have leather sport seats they are comfortable easy to get in and out of. The sound system isn't a ML but it is good. The power delivery is superb and spontaneous immediate pick up from a standing start. The noise you refer to is the CVT gearbox and the UX has ASC (active sound control) that can be turned on or off. Yes if you hit the pedal hard you will hear the engine but I've driven others with the CVT and Lexus without any shadow of doubt is far superior in my opinion. You will get used to it. The car handles very well i don't have any issues at all, i even had a play in sport mode the other day just to see. I would certainly test drive one nearer the time. I would definitely put it on your shortlist.

I asked Lexus customer services today John. The rep didn't know but rang me back after speaking with a product manager. Unfortunately the UX does not have heated washer jets. Also it is not just my model it is the entire UX range that doesn't have heated washer jets. Thought that must be the case when i couldn't find anything in the 600 page manual. Your right Piers the entire UX range doesn't have heated washer jets. Wise words use a quality screen wash. There are some on the market they would struggle against a good frost.

Thats why i posted John i cant see anything in the 600 page manual. There is section on heated windscreen/wipers (if you have them) . Im interested to know if they are heated do they turn on automatically when you put the outside mirrors on or the rear window. Maybe the UX doesn't have them or doesn't need them. Hybrids warm up quickly does the residual heat from the engine keep them running free when the temperature's plummet ?

Thanks Piers however couldnt find anything here. Brent

Hello from a soon to be UX owner

The benefit of the link app is its on your mobile. For me i like the find my car section its like having a tracker fitted, hopefully in the event should the car be stolen it should be easily located. It also has other things like hybrid coaching and informs you how your drive was, showing braking points acceleration points apparently im heavy footed i can assure you i aint. There are other things you can do. The portal from the lexus website allows you to send journeys you want to do to the head unit so when you get in the car go on maps and its there. I would think the download latest maps will be useful if one wants to give you opportunity to send it to a usb stick then plug into car and install. You can of course do this straight to the car but takes a while around an hour or thereabouts. The economy so other posts show is better in summer. Yes i too use Android Auto and it works very well to be honest this is why i aint bothered about the map updates. I also play some music via it as well. Its all controlled by the touchpad it is not a problem Barry and you can set the touchpad to how you want it to respond. A final word about the youtube posts i mentioned the Northfield Texas they do Tech tip Tuesdays but a good one to find is their full tutorial of the UX its about an hour long but worth the watching. Brent. -
Yes its a serious issue and if you have one stolen it will cost you a lot of money for a replacement and if you can get one. There are various companies making anti cat theft devices. Its good to discover that the UX is near the manifold this would make it a bit more difficult to remove. The Toyota cat is the thieves chosen cat of choice because they are found to have more of the precious metals in than the make of others allegedly. This type of theft is not just around london its happening nationally. Brent

Hello from a soon to be UX owner
ALAW replied to Navnan2's topic in Lexus UX250h / UX300h / UX300e Club
Hi Barry I did same as you trawling posts on you tube and lurking on here before buying my UX. Initially i had issues connecting the car to the lexus link app then connecting the car via the my lexus portal and the vehicle getting recognised via the head unit. The folks at lexus connectivity were very helpful after a week it was sorted. The touchpad controller is a bit sensitive but with time you will get used to it. Getting used to all the various controls and settings buttons etc now. The drive is good. Im particulary liking the immediate movement from a standing start from traffic lights or a road junction after driving an Audi with a DSG gearbox and the lag associated with that the UX is sublime really. This is the first vehicle i have had with adaptive cruise and i really like it very useful. I have cornering lights and they too are very good. MPG on a mixed motorway urban run ive had up to 46 but usually around 42 shorter trips urban 26mpg approx. Im happy with this. The CVT gearbox is very good despite reports what you will read about CVT the Lexus one is the best around. Overall im enjoying the car very much and im sure you will when you get yours. Incidently what you tube vids did you find best. I thought the USA one from Northfield Texas was good they do a few. Brent -

Wash or wash and polish
ALAW replied to Barry14UK's topic in RX 300 / RX 350h / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h+ / RX 500h Club
I start of with a rinse with the hosepipe on spray gets the bits off. A bucket of water with autoglym conditioning shampoo wash all over. Then rinse of with the spray hosepipe. Dry off with a drying cloth currently using an auto finesse one. Job done. In spring after drying i give it a coat of autoglym extra gloss protection and the same again in autumn. The extra gloss protection is very good on the alloys as well stops the brake dust building up as quick and makes them easier to clean. Done this for years.
