  1. Have you had much luck? I have been looking for a while and none that are tickling my fancy are popping up. I don't want a black exterior or interior haha
  2. Gorgeous car! I have admired the IS convertible for years! I am still to see one in a spec I would go for. I have a blue with ecru SC 430 and a younger IS C might do the trick.
  3. You are right, I have a 2004 SC 430 and its in the £360 tax bracket 🙂
  4. Hey everyone, I see that Lexus Edinburgh have a Regatta edition of the LC 500 convertible in their showroom. I am a huge fan of the white and blue colour combination. Here are some photos I took of the LC, enjoy. Thomas
  5. Hey there, Late to the convo, I went from a series of BMWs (1,3 coupe and Z4) and the Lexus cars are typically smoother to drive and have better spec. (especially if you go for a premium or Takumi model). The IS 300h doesn't drive as well as a BMW 3 and it does feel tinnier compared to the 3 German cars when you close the door. Merc C class is plastic fantastic and I don't think its worth your money. The Lexus is reliable but it can be very expensive to service (as there aren't many specialists and the dealerships are £400-800 depending on service interval). My BMWs were all serviced under £400 (various mileages). My mum had a 2018 A4 SE tdi that was well built, quiet but it was a manual and had very little spec (no heated seats or leather). She went into a 2019 IS 300h premium the following year. In short the IS has decent spec vs typical Germans, hybrid powertrain that is quite efficient and good customer service. The cons would be limited/ no engine options, a noisier cabin and tighter rear legroom (& the infotainment as mentioned is a learning curve) I hope this helps.
  6. I am just had my 80k service today at my local dealer and it was £475, I ended up needing aircon done (£100 odd) then front and rear brakes. (just under £1500 all in today) and the car isnt even at 70k miles (apparently goes by age).
  7. Hey everyone, I thought I would share my experience with the 2019 Lexus CT 200h. Had this car from new, waited about 7 months back in 2019 from ordering to receiving the CT. Specified the blue paint, the premium pack and I think the tech pack. The CT has the larger screen from the IS/ES model, black leather seats, the newer look headlights, tinted windows, keyless entry & heated seats to name a few options. I quite like the fact you don't see too many facelift CT's about, the newer front end looks sharp and in my eyes looks similar to the facelifted RC. The main negative of the CT is the harsh ride, this was not an F sport car and it rides so stiff and it is very jarring over imperfections on the road. I found it very unLexus like, especially considering how smooth the other models are, such as my previous RX or my mother's 2019 IS 300h. (it felt more stiff than my 2015 VW Golf GTD). Speaking of the GTD, the boot space & rear legroom was not fantastic for a family hatchback. The positives are the car never needed any repairs or unexpected trips to the dealership in the 26k miles of ownership, the dealer service is obviously good (Lexus Glasgow). I like the larger screen, the heated seats warmed up quickly (as did cabin through Scottish winters). The car has recently left due to it being a company car & job change, lasting impressions are overall positive and it will be missed.
  8. Hey everyone, I recently had the facelifted Lexus ES 300h out from Lexus Glasgow. Firstly I must say that the touchscreen is an improvement over the 2019 model that I was in previously, there is still the remote touchpad. The screen is a good 10cm closer to the driver now so you can touch it with ease (it also has apple car play and android auto). Sadly not the latest system that is found in the NX and new RZ. I personally really like the LED headlights and the appearance of the F sport trim Lexus models on a whole look great (prefer the chrome look of the pre facelift vs these black rims). The main positives for the car was the incredible rear legroom (feels huge coming out of a Jaguar XJ X351), the ride quality is very subtle and you don't feel the road as much as I expected (especially being the F sport). It still has a CD player, which great as I know I get many comments on cars that still have them. The negatives that I could see is the lack of engine choice and there is no awd. That CVT gearbox is a touch loud when accelerating onto the motorway. Black alloy wheels on the F sport trim I don't think suit a car like this. I couldn't get the car over 48 mpg and I really did try driving as economically as I could (I can easily get 52 mpg in the IS 300h without trying). If anyone wishes to check out my video on the facelifted Lexus ES 300h F sport, the link is below:
  9. very nice, welcome 🙂
  10. Photo of some parts removed to reach the ECT sensor
  11. Hey everyone, As part of my battle to fix P0125 code, I recently replaced the ECT sensor on my 2004 Lexus SC 430. I hope this video helps anyone else who is looking to replace their engine coolant temperature sensor.
  12. Hopefully someone can help you Graham (& me too)
  13. Hey Graham, I have had this P0125 code on my 2004 SC 430. I have replaced the thermostat, ECT Sensor, Coolant itself, the O2 sensor and I also needed a new exhaust. So I had mine replaced in September with a SS unit. I was told to change the thermostat first (its about £20 for a gates thermostat & quite easy to do yourself).
  14. thanks for sharing 😉
  15. Great if you can let us know when please? 🙂
  16. Thanks Ant, any chance if you know the 'Gates' thermostat is OEM?
  17. I have a 2004 model and I have some corrosion too round where the hinges are on the roof. I don't know how to resolve this sadly.
  18. The mileage on this one is nearly 160k but the guy is asking £2695 for this IS300. It is just too far away from me to justify it as a cheap fun runaround. Might be of use to you? *its grey with black seats* https://www.gumtree.com/p/lexus/lexus-is300-sportcross-3.0l-auto/1423438232
  19. Same here, I am looking for a sportcross but there is hardly any out there. I keep seeing that 2002 IS 300 sportcross in green for £4500 popping up
  20. Hey everyone, First post here of 2022, I hope you all are keeping well? I have a question, my SC 430 has a code 'P0125' coming up, "insufficient coolant temperature". I have noticed over the last few weeks that the car starts to blows cold air if I am in the car for over 30 mins or so. (which is not ideal when it is 2oC outside). Am I correct in thinking this could be the thermostat that needs to be replaced? I have checked coolant levels and I have had the 02 sensors replaced. Thanks in advance, Thomas 🙂
  21. wow that is crazy! I haven't heard or read anything for prices like that in Scotland
  22. Hi David, Im late to the conversation, did you manage to source a tank?
  23. Hey everyone, It was great to meet so many of you on Sunday at the SC 430 club meet. Thanks to Chris for hosting and Juan for arranging. (Graham it was amazing to see your RCF in person) For anyone who missed the club meet or would like to see the event please click the link below:
  24. Hey everyone, I have a question with regards to my passenger side mirror. It seems to have lost power as it no longer folds in, doesn't dim or adjust. I have had a look on YouTube and FB to try find an answer, however most of the content relates to the LS430 and the folding feature. Has anyone had a similar issue/ know of a solution? Thanks in advance, Thomas 🙂
