  1. I have had windscreens replaced in a couple of previous cars - both times I had issues with the Auto Sensing Wipers afterwards - first the fitter had broken a clip and so it didn't hold the "jelly pad" tightly to the screen, and second the fitter didn't use a new "jelly pad" rather reused the previous one (that had his dirty finger marks and general dirt on it) so didn't make a clean seal on the screen. Sounds like your car has had a new screen in the past and an equally incompetent fitter 😞
  2. https://www.lexus.co.uk/discover-lexus/lexus-news/luxury-yacht-650-revealed/ Starts at $3.74 million dollars. Bargain
  3. Please see the For Sale section if you are interested in a 2016 model
  4. I drove a Lincoln Navigator in the US and that had actual Air Conditioned seats. Now that really did make it feel like I'd had an accident as they were so cold!
  5. You should experience the heated seats in the GS F. They are about as useful as a mouse breathing on an iceberg. The ventilated seats aren't a lot better, but on the plus side, they are the most comfortable seats in any car I have driven.
  6. My first guess would be to check the driver's door "pin" to make sure it works and turns on the interior lights when the door is opened. I had an intermittent connection issue on my old GS300 and I swapped the driver's one with a rear one and it all then worked ok
  7. Although the hybrid is classed as a "Start-Stop Vehicle", it doesn't use the 12v battery to start the engine - the Hybrid electric traction motor (MG1) is used to start the engine and therefore the load is not on the 12v battery. from Wiki: The HSD system replaces the geared transmission, alternator, and starter motor with: MG1, an AC motor-generator having a permanent magnet rotor,[7] used as a motor when starting the ICE and as a generator (alternator) when charging the high voltage battery
  8. I may be wrong but the first one looks like it will direct the HVAC to the windscreen (and normally puts the fan on full). The second looks like there is a heated element in the screen to defrost the wipers.
  9. My son's Samsung Android worked on the RX when both my LG and Sony didn't. But it appears the software differs between makes and models so no guarantee a Samsung would work on the CT
  10. Actually, I had a brand new 2016 NX where my Android phone and text messaging worked perfectly. I upgraded to a 2016 RX where the text messaging didn't work (exactly the same phone). Got a new Android phone (different make), and it still didn't work with the RX. I upgraded to GS F. Android phone and text messaging still doesn't work. Overall, I think Lexus and Android are severely inconsistent unfortunately.
  11. My insurance renewal premium (beginning of October) went up by a third this year for no reason (with Churchill) after being static for the past 2 years. I changed to the Institute of Advanced Motorists insurance and got it back down to around last year's premium (£390).
  12. I can believe the results of the survey. Heard and read untold number of stories about how badly put together Teslas are and how they effectively fall apart once the warranty expires. A Land Rover main dealer has also had my friend's Range Rover Autobiography for 10 months now and still haven't been able to fix whatever the issue is causing the Engine Light to come on intermittently! So far they want to charge £2000 for labour to return the car to him in exactly the same condition as he dropped it off, and still undriveable as he can't get it MOT'd because of the Engine Light.
  13. I guess we'll have to live with BAR then! Don't want to muck around with Area Codings as I can imagine that would have unexpected affects on things like MPG (if it was set to US, as gallons are smaller over there, we'd be getting false readings)
  14. I know you can change the various units in the displays - MPH>KMH, Miles to KM, MPG>L/100km, but has anyone worked out how to change the pressure readings from Bar > PSI? I have seen images from the US forums displaying in PSI so I know it is possible to display, but have yet to work out how to do it (unless it is a dealer only option?) Thanks!
  15. Good ole Google led me here. Whichever car I own, I always look for the owner's forums as they can give far more information about our cars than the dealers can and the forums are invaluable for tips, tricks and common issues.
  16. The F Sport with Takumi Pack seems better value, but ultimately, the Takumi Spec will have a few better quality components (Semi Aniline Leather, Mark Levinson? for example) and slightly different styling so it really depends what you want and in addition what colour you prefer. Here are the differences that I could find: https://blog.lexus.co.uk/2019-lexus-rx-revised-grades-and-specifications/
  17. The Convertible does have the neck heaters (on the higher spec ones I see) so that does sound kind of cool, though
  18. I got the email too, but really would have to see it in the flesh before considering a down payment. I see in the US, dealers are putting up to a $50,000 markup on the convertibles. Crazy!
  19. I got this one for my GS F Dripex Car Cover It fits perfectly, has straps front, middle and rear with plastic buckles and even has a zip on the driver's side to allow access without having to remove the whole cover (just have to unclip the middle strap) I only ever use it when the car is clean, though. Otherwise I would be putting a cover on a dirty car and the dirt trapped would scratch the paint with the slight movement caused in breezes or wind.
  20. I have a question for all the other GS F owners out there. I had an NX Premier and connected my Android phone via bluetooth. All the functionality phone worked including the SMS text messages coming up on the screen, the system read them out, I could reply to them etc. I then had an RX f-Sport and connected the same phone via bluetooth and all the phone functionality worked except the SMS text messages - the screen hung for a few seconds when navigating to the messages screen and I get the error "Unable to retrieve messages". Again with the GS F, I get the same as the RX - everything except the SMS Messages work. I then got a new Android phone and thought it may work, but it didn't. I have even downgraded the bluetooth protocol on the phone, but to no avail. I read somewhere on the US forums that it may be something to do with the way the phone stores multiple numbers under each contact, but as it worked fine on the NX, I am not totally convinced this is the issue. I have asked at my dealership if there are any updates, but apparently there aren't. Anyone else have this issue and been able to fix it? Thanks
  21. I own a CT as a second car to the GS F and having driven several UX models as courtesy cars, I was actually disappointed about the UX interior not feeling as premium as the CT. Maybe they were just a low-spec UXs. I agree with the comments above - the relatively high UX starting price compared to the CT will put off many potential entrants to the Lexus brand.
  22. Thank you. I have previously owned a GS300 SE, an NX 300h Premier, and an RX 450h f-sport so made my way up the ladder to the GS F 😀
  23. Just wanted to say hi to everyone. Been a lurker on here for over a year, and thought it was time to actually sign up and get involved. Very happy with my GS F which I have owned for almost 2 years now. I love the rarity as well as no-one knowing how good these things are when they see them. Here's a couple of pictures for you.
