That kind of was the plan Malc, but I get tarred by the same brush of living in inner city Birmingham and insurance is ridiculous. Which, I still didn't mind for years but I need to be practical and sell one of the two.
-
I can't help but want to spread the word of how great these cars are.... probably won't be packing my bags to go off and proselytize internationally but it is such a wonderful car by any measure and a bargain at this price. Thank you for your advice, I'll list it on eBay and see what happens.

It literally made me laugh out loud. I can see how it would be useful for getting a baseline for more current vehicles, but for classics and rare cars I don't think it'll be the yardstick to measure a cars value.

Supafly started following Decided to sell one of my LS400's

Thought I'd post up in here that I've put one of my LS400's up for sale: I've had my blue LS400 for about eight years and absolutely love it... so much so that when I had the opportunity to buy a low mileage one owner one(green one) I jumped at the chance. I always wanted to know what these were like when new and it has been a revelation to drive both back to back. However, the nice (green) one sits in the garage while the older one stays outside in front of the house. As such it barely gets driven, because it's such a faf to get it out, which I didn't mind so much as I was happy for it to sit and appreciate. I toyed with the idea of selling it a couple of times but didn't go ahead with it. Now my personal situation has changed and insuring and taxing two LS400's isn't feasible for me, so it is up for sale in the for sale section linked above. Thought I'd post a pointer here as I wasn't actively looking when I originally bought it and this is our little niche of the Lexus world.

SC430 struggle to run when stepping on gas pedal
Supafly replied to Dukewin's topic in Lexus SC430 Club
Had the problem started straight after the spark plug change? It might be a vacuum leak or any number of things. As the plugs and filter were the last things that have been touched, I'd start by making sure nothing has been disturbed or broken first. Check all the little lines on the intake system and inlet manifold, cracking, splits and disconnected is what you should look for initially. -
Thanks Malc 🙂 The car is definitely better than it looks in the photo's, with as detailed history as you could hope for. I agree with what you said about the dealers, which is why I'm not asking silly money for it... although I think it's worth way more.

Find me another LS400 in great condition with complete history and 60k miles for less please...
-
I haven't tried we buy any car... I'll give it a go tomorrow. I'm guessing it'll be way off. For reference, an identical colour ls400 with a black interior and three thousand more miles sold for around twelve thousand earlier this year (albeit from a dealer). When I was looking at getting one about five years ago, any LS400 around the sixty thousand mile mark was over ten thousand pounds. This is a wonderful car and the photo's don't do it justice. I also think it's a bargain at this price.

Thank you Malc

For sale: 2000 LS400 Item Condition: Excellent condition, please see photo's Price and price conditions: £7,999 Extra Info: Detailed service history (including the original bill of sale) covering more than £10k of work. I've documented this in a spreadsheet which I'll try to attach. Failing that please ask and I will send via PM. All three keys present and working with the code tag. Supplied by Lexus Twickenham with one previous owner. I've got two LS400's the first I've owned for over eight years and use regularly as it is parked on the road it's a high miler not worth much with no history. This one I've owned for almost two years and is in amazing condition, as such it stays garaged behind a shutter and garden gates. Which means I don't use the car much, and paying for tax and insurance, with a change of personal circumstances means that I must sell. I know how much these are worth and that I've priced it well, so not really interested in silly offers. During my ownership I've had the alternator fully refurbished, fitted a genuine new lexus drive belt, fitted a genuine new lexus battery, genuine lexus oil and filter and new air filter and pollen filter these latter two were NLA from lexus. Pictures: Contact Details: My mobile number is 07742863651 Location: Birmingham Delivery & Conditions of Delivery: Please come round, have a tea, chat, look at the car. I love talking about them 🙂 Pay (bank transfer) and drive away a very happy bunny. W753 LFG LS400 2000.xlsx

As above, if you don't have the ability to check and confirm yourself, how are you going to be certain it is back within spec after adjusting(which can be a huge can of worms in itself with seized bolts etc.). If it is out then the next question is why, could be down to worn bushes or a number of other causes. Best to take it to somewhere that can check and advise what the root cause is, and hopefully have enough experience to deal with any difficult bolts along the way too.

Severe shuddering when braking between 40-60MPH
Supafly replied to robxenotech's topic in Brakes & Suspension
Following on from the ball joint comment above. Can also be other suspension bushes, primarily strut rod bushing then others will need to be checked. I had this exact same thing happen in a bmw e30, new lower control arms and the equivalent of our ls400 strut rod bush later and it was transformed. -
Renovation project with SC430 - new colour on the car!
Supafly replied to NICO1972's topic in Lexus SC430 Club
A beautiful outcome, the car looks amazing. Thank you for sharing your project with us 🙂 -
When it's warm and cuts out, is there still fuel pressure in the system? Does it fire right up when cold or does it need to crank for a while first?

Dipped headlight bulbs
Supafly replied to DJT's topic in LS 400 / Lexus LS 430 / Lexus LS 460 / Lexus 600h / Lexus 500h Club
I'm fortunate to only have slight hazing, which I'll be addressing soon. This was 100% the bulbs, I wasn't aware that they 'fade' but it was very noticeable when driving, when looking at the lights from outside they didn't seem dim or anything like that. When driving in the dark you could tell that there wasn't any actual output. Really hard to describe, they're switched on and stood in front of the car looking at them nothing seems amiss, headlights look bright, but when in the car it was as though they'd lost about 50% of the light output, the road and shrubs etc weren't well lit. To the point I had to slow down to make safe progress. With new bulbs it was instantly noticeable how much more light they produced, and how bad the old bulbs had become.
