  1. The remote unlocking of the car can be useful, ie wife shopping whilst I’m at an appointment and she wishes to pop back to the car to deposit shopping, remote activation of hazard lights to locate car in dark car park, pre-heat the car on cold days before you get there, fuel/range/service status etc etc. lots of useful features.
  2. So - answer from Lexus - you can only use the app to remotely unlock the car if you used the app to lock it earlier! This is ridulous. Firstly, drivers will rarely know in advance that they might have a need to remotely unlock the door, usually this function might be needed when a passenger unexpectedly has cause to return to the car without the driver, i.e. to deposit shopping, to retrieve a forgotton item maybe, etc. when the driver has perhaps had to be elsewhere, i.e. at a seperate appointment, etc. No one is going to get into the habit of routinely locking the car via the app to cover such unexpected / rare circumstances considering the fact that rather than simply exiting the car and pressing the door handle, to lock it via the app will involve getting ones phone out, opening the app, pressing the remote lock button and waiting some 60-90 seconds for the app to connect to the car and hopefully lock the doors (I say "hopefully" because many times I try to use this app I get a message telling me "there was an error processing your request, please try again"). It is simply far too cumbersome and time consuming. I know that the level and capabilities of the tech on Lexus vehicles is sadly way behind that found on other makes but the ability to remotely unlock the car irrespective of how it was locked is surely not beyond the skills of Lexus programmers? My previous BMW's and even my two previous Ford Focus's remote opening apps allowed it. Yet another Lexus failing, frankly there are far too many for an alleged "luxury" brand Takumi spec. Lexus product developers really need to rent a BMW for a week or two to see how tech should really work.
  3. Mine is keyless, also I have managed to unlock the door once via the app after unlocking it manually then locking it with the app. Also, see above, it now tells me that the car is unlocked when it is not. I'm trying to call the Lexus help line but annoyingly for the last few hours the line goes to a message telling me the team are "in a meeting"!!
  4. Furthermore, I manually unlocked it then succesfully locked it again with the app but now when I try to unlock it with the app it says that it HAS unlocked but it hasn't!
  5. When I try to unlock my car remotely via the app I get a message reading: "Your request could not be completed because the alarm was set in your vehicle. You cannot unlock a vehicle equipped with an alarm when it was locked with a key". What is the point of having an unlock feature if it will not unlock a car when the alarm is set, of course the alarm will be set whenever the car is locked and left? Does anyone have a fix for this? Thanks
  6. I did not use Apple Car play in the BMW because the BMW ICE was so good.
  7. Thanks for this. Only Lexus could “improve” the system by making it touch screen but restricting it to one big screen! Honestly, sometimes this company drives me mad with its lack of progress on tech. My 2019 BMW has far more (and better) tech than my new Lexus F-Sport Takumi. So disappointing and irritating. Why don’t Lexus creative team rent a BMW for a few weeks, learn what can easily be done and develop the same for at least their highest spec grades.
  8. I've ordered a used (2023) UX250h and was suprised and disappointed to see that the main screen cannot be split, i.e. it is one big screen whereas most other cars allow split screens with, say, map in one half and audio info, etc. alongside. Is this really the case? Also, when starting the car it was necessary for me to press THREE times on the screen to accept the safety message. In my old IS300 I had to press it once (which was annoying enough), but now THREE seperate inputs? This is totally ridiculous so does anyone know if there is a way to dosable this requirment, or at least short cut it to one touch? Thanks
  9. That's not right. The basic F-Sport has cloth upholstery but if you have either the "Premium Pack" or "Takumi Pack" you get what is descibed in the spec sheet as "leather upholstery" (the spec for the ordinary IS300 Takumi adds the word "smooth"). However when you look at the specific Pack details later in the spec sheet both the "Premium" and "Takumi" packs (offered on the F-Sport) specifically mention "smooth" leather" so there is a contradiction. Lexus are telling me that both the F-Sport Takumi has exactly the same leather as the (ordinary) Takumi grade car and I'm not sure they are giving me the right info - I believe the F-Sport (Takumi pack) leather is inferior to the usual Takumi grade leather (i.e. not "smooth"). My old Premier model's leather certainly felt much better and was more comfortable then my current F-Sport Takumi. If Lexus ARE correct telling me it is exactly the same then their spec sheet is unclear.
  10. Thanks for the replies, Lexus told me that the IS300 used those types of leather but maybe I or they misunderstood and the higher spec is only on the RX, LS, etc. as suggested by Colin. However, I am certain that the leather in my Premier was much softer and nicer than the F-Sport Takumi, I also tried the rear seats which I think would be identical in both cars (F-Sport front seats are "sports seats" of course with different design which might make a difference in comfort, feel, etc.)
  11. I've recently purchased an IS300h F-Sport with Takumi pack, and have previously owned an IS300h Premier (equivelant to the modern day Takumi grade) Lexus tell me that the type seat leather used in both these models/grades is exactly the same, namely what they call "Smooth (standard) leather (mid-grade)". They go on to tell me that the "best" leather is their "Semi-aniline leather (higher quality leather)" but have not told me which models this is included with. Apart from wondering why the highest quality leather is not used in their highest grades (i.e. Takumi) I am certain that the leather in my old Premier model was far softer and more comfortable/luxurious then the leather in my current F-Sport with Takumi pack. Lexus insists it is the same but I am not convinced. Also, why would they not use the highest grade leather in their highest grade range? Does anyone have any knowledge of this subject and might be able to confirm if 1) the leather used in Takumi packs is the same as that used in the general Takumi range and whether this is the "standard mid grade" leather, or does the Takumi grade (and the previou Premier grades) use the better quality Semi-aniline leather? Thanks
  12. On every start up, after the safety warning screen disappears, I get the Navigation Menu Screen appear and it stays there until I clear it by pressing the back button. Does anyone know how I can disable this? There is nothing in the manual and I am almost certain that this menu did not keep automatically appearing when I first got the car. Secondly, my user manual shows (in a list of options under "Navigation Settings") an option for displaying the speed limit on my map display but this one option is missing from the list in my settings menu in the actual car. Can we set the nav so it always displays the posted speed limit somewhere in the display screen? Thanks
  13. Has anyone brought or tried to buy a Lexus via Lexus Direct? No one, including Lexus showroom staff appear to have any idea of how it works and even Lexus direct staff themselves are rather vague when it comes to delivery times, logistics, etc. The first thing they tell you is to go to your local Lexus dealer and speak with them yet the local Lexus dealers don't seem to really want to know. All I know is that the cars are stored somewhere in the UK, you cannot test drive them and the local dealer has to purchase them if and when they are confident you will buy it. Apparently if you then change your mind the local dealer may be stuck with the car or may return it for a fee as far as I can understand which might explain the reticence of the dealers? I'm getting to the stage of giving up on it...
