Have fun trolling through the menus! I was told by the sales people my 2016 didn't have the proximity sensing tailgate opening. It did but wasn't switched on in menu. HUD heads up display is nice with speed limit sign shown next to actual speed. It is a great car but my 2005 LS430 is smoother, quieter and cost 32000 pounds less!

Towing eye

There are tie down points on all cars for when the car is being transported but exercise caution when hauling car backwards by these metal eyes. A tow company would probably attach to the suspension hub if they were dragging you out -
The RX450h is certainly flavour of the hour. Prices rising as I looked!! There has to be a painful market correction coming. furlough and small business grants have left cash sloshing about to buy stuff, when will it all stabilise.

Just bought one as prices were going up like Bitcoin!!!!!! I was told every school mom has bought one!?

If the LS430 is left unused I switch off the proximity smart key unlocking system ,button is in drivers footwell above your feet. When it is on ,touching the button on the exterior door handles, locks the car. It constantly looks for the car key to pair with and knocks my battery flat in 2 weeks. When it is off, locking/Unlocking then needs to be done with the buttons on keyfob

Would you buy your RX450h again?

As a firm believer in factory original must be best I have always tried to fit Original equipment. However ,on a mercedes with a brake squeal and judder ,filing a chamfer on the leading edge of the pads and resetting with new shims and grease failed to silence the Ate original pads. If the pads had not been original to the vehicle from new I would have suspected made in china copies of Ate I fitted a set of UK manufactured EBC Ultimax pads which not only stopped the noise but improved the brake pedal feel . As a real plus the alloy wheels no longer get brake dust discolouring them! EBC also make racing yellow, green and red pads also but they need to be heated up before they work properly! Not much good on the school run! I have now fitted them(Ultimax) to my LS back and front and my mercedes SL fronts.I will report back on how they wear but so far very pleased.

If it was noted during inspection you have assume they could see it when its in the air on a ramp. if it does rot through to a hole it will affect the emmissions bit of recycled vapours wire brush, emerytape, hammerite should protect it . When i am under my car and see any rusty bits I spray them with waxy anticorrosion spray like waxoyl aerosol. Bolts especially get this treatment in case they have to come off. .

Golly ! I hope I don't lose use of the rear fridge, need it for keeping the champagne cool. Why degrade a fabulous riding car , famous for the silent air ride , by sticking springs on it? ......wont it shake up the champagne by the way? -
My Wife took grandkids to local playpark after lockdown ,sat in car with radio on.......wouldnt start, AA refused to come out as car was just out of MOT. I was unaware of the lapse, my fault. However despite being a woman with two toddlers ,stranded ,they were refusing to help. Renewal came in at £504 for family relay following month! we are now with RAC at £200 something, covers all family at address, ie Us, Granny and daughter

I had a ford escort that ran its main bearings, causing terrible noise and overheating, car was essential daily driver. I used a litre of slick 50 ,a ptfe oil treatment added to the engine oil as a ‘get me to the end of the month’ repair. The noise never went away but overheating stopped and car ran for months until I had the time to fix it. Fast forward to a newish mercedes twin turbo diesel, when I added a German fuel additive, that blocked the diesel particulate filter. Now I use redex in fuel to clear injectors. I use Ptfe/ teflon oil additives on older high mileage engines, doesn't quieten them but helps fuel consumption and reduce wear. i only use a fully synthetic oil in all my engines, if you have ever dipped your mineral oil on a car that has just overheated, it is so thin it is no longer doing its job.

Our local council recycling centre has a waste oil recycling bit. I leave the containers of used oil by the tank. Going back to transmissions,I was experiencing hard shifts from my transmission last evening, concerning , until I realised outside temperature was down to one degree . Normal service was resumed once warm. I may have to get my wife to knit the transmission cooler a bobble hat to keep it cosy.
