(2005) LS430 BRC lpg conversion any good?

In my experience the majority of LPG equipped cars offered for sale include the ‘ slight tapping noise from engine ,now for sale’ disclaimer -
LS460 - is rad replacement commonplace?
LexusRbest replied to donkmeister's topic in Engine & Transmission
US spec radiator doesnt have the wee pipe for the overflow like the UK one. The radiator has a small cooler in the base that has been known to leak oil to water or .water to oil Unless you are a gambler install a transmission cooler for £100. If water gets into the gearbox oil it is game over. You wont know until it’s kaput. -

Be aware LPG doesn't lubricate like petrol. The engine is designed to run on petrol, when run exclusively on LPG it will eventually cry enough. A lube system is essential. -

Mercedes use Brembo and Ate manufactured pads and box them in a Mercedes box with a hologram . Using EBC Ultimax pads have solved some of my noisy brake problems on Mercedes and other makes of cars. They work well on my LS430 and provide confidence during high speed stops. It is quite bizarre that they work so well yet there is no black dust on the wheels from them. I have no connection to their product. I believe them to be a superior product that is manufactured in the UK.

Injector fault IS200D - PLEASE HELP!
LexusRbest replied to Callum_Taylor's topic in Engine & Transmission
I dont have my techstream working so working a bit blind on mine. If its misfiring I would blame injector but I too have similar problem with no fault codes on generic OBD11 reader. there is the aggravation of excess soot from wrong metering injector can coke up the vanes on variable vane turbo ,plus the EGR cokes up, inlet tracts coke up. if you have techstream look at injector quantities for irregularities. it should also show if that is cause of low power. I did have codes for both vacuum solenoids on side of cam cover ,turbo boost and ??? Forgot other so replaced them, codes went away but no better. -
The injectors need coding into the ecu to control their metering fuel quantities. I was told any other part numbers are not compatible. worth speaking to a Denso injector repairer on this. I can’t understand why the rav 4 one wouldn’t work but may underfuel. Car may run but throw up codes. For example, putting a number 4 injector in number 3 position when reassembling will cause overfuelling resulting in black smoke due to ECU not communicating the correct fuel quantities specific to the injector and resorting to ‘off limit’ setting causing over supply and black smoke.

Have you tried pushing the fold button and lock button and your seat memory button simultaneously

The arch clips are a mix of push in pins and expander type plugs. The expander ones need the centre pin pulling up before you lever out the bigger perimeter bit. I use fine sidecutter wire snips, tack remover screwdriver thingy and a plastic trim tool with forked end to get them out. They should all be reuseable but they are not expensive to replace if you have to get angry with one. IIRC the abs lead joins at a plug behind the liner within the wheelarch. I have had to drill out severely corroded sensors. I use silicon grease when refitting although it is unlikely you need to revisit. when drifting the driveshaft loose on its splines through the hub always leave the nut loose on the threads to protect them. grease the splines lightly before reassembly.

If you know and like the car and will be replacing it like with like ,why not find a better price for the repair. independant toyota /lexus guys would be my first call. I am in the same boat with a smokey IS220d that already has had a lot spent on it . I have put it on here for half price and may fix myself as planned if time permits.
-
If you already owned the car and knew it was good otherwise , then that is a different game.

Mot fail is if rust has compromised the integrity of the structure within 30 cm of suspension mounting or seatbelt mount . If you are not a welder keep looking. you may fix one area but the car has had its life. Continue and you will become a financial expert on rust repair. rusty brake pipes are a straightforward replacement.

Are they poly or black rubber? I was going to try the Febest ones, they confirmed the LS430 Track Control Arm bushes are fluid filled as per ,now obsolete ,Original lexus part. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/124112815511?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=b3oxXcxxTYG&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=gvvL2dQVQ3y&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

I have been disappointed also and have changed to EBC Ultimax pads. bought on fleabay they make red , green yellow racing stuff but avoid these as they need heating up before they bite, not much good coming out the driveway then…….. i have replaced squealing mercedes Ate pads on a viano traveliner, front and rear on my Mercedes SL, front and rear on LS430, front and rear on 328i BMW. I like the abrasive coat on face of pad that hones the disc and helps them bed in . I like that they are UK manufactured not chinese. I like that they don't use iron in the pad material as abrasive so there is no manky black dust all over my curb mashed alloys. They stop pretty good too.

The transmission cooler element in the radiator is like a piece of 22mm pipe closed at the ends. i would not trust a new radiator due to the risk of terminal catastrophic damage that occurs if the trans fluid and water mix For the price of Paul Frosts cooler kit I would fit a new rad and separate cooler. Its a common failing , unusual for Lexus but difficult to see happening until its too late. replacement transmission will relieve you of 2-3 grand

I have a 54 reg LS430 and my AC is the last of a string of faults that came with the car. I have had the system checked twice by emptying the refrigerant and putting it under vacuum fot 30 minutes. It shows no leaks. Next is to start replacing parts, I have no error codes. There is a hidden AC diagnostic menu in the display screen you can access that may give more clues see utube Its a major cost ,£3-400 for a compressor,£100 for condenser (radiator) plus labour. I am changing the AC electronic control box first in the hope that it is glitching ,as the heating also is irregular. So this may be a big bill waiting! why hasn't dealer fixed AC with a recharge? maybe more to it.

If you think air got in then I would get a long bit of clear tube, fit it on the bleed nipple for the caliper ( it needs to be a good fit) open the bleed nipple and observe . if any air bubbles come out with the fluid. get an assistant to slowly press brake pedal. close / tighten brake bleed nipple while fluid is flowing clear. keep topping up master cylinder and be sure bleed nipple is closed each time brake pedal is coming up.
