  1. LS owners often lose their rear fridge between back seats due to the pipes corroding through and losing refrigerant. I replaced the corroded pipes with new copper and then jointed them to old pipes with purpose made compression joints. I found a maidstone ,Kent company ‘Smart splice’ who make repair fittings for AC pipes .Primalec.co.uk they are compression fittings that are great for refrigeration or auto transmission pipework
  2. Having spoken with my supplying Lexus Dealer and realising that Auxilis (a national all makes repair body shop) repair the cars, I have spoken with Craig Allen at Lexus. There doesnt seem to be a Lexus dealer with their own bodyshop
  3. I changed the rack on my LS 460 2006 due to water ingress from a leaky rubber boot/gaiter on the rack to track rod. It was grinding by the time I changed it, but the warning light displayed before the noise. Because it is a electric powered rack rather than a hydraulic it is more sensitive to water ingress and therefore warning lights. I replaced it with a good used item,
  4. It could be water in transmission, open the allen key plug on bottom of gearbox sump and let a tiny bit of fluid out.spoonful. is it nice red clear or thick hot chocolate. If water has got in from radiator intercooler( common fault on 430) The water emulsifies the oil and it doesn't flow so good, maybe causing kickdown (hard acceleration) not to engage properly
  5. I reckon its a guy in the factory with a rubber mallet bangs them in place with one hit, knows exactly how to do it because he did 84 wrong ones before he got the ‘knack’
  6. First purchase after buying a Lexus I would recommend an icarsoft obd reader. plugs in under the dash, reads fault codes, lets you tell the garage what YOU want fixed.
  7. Is this a sign of things to come for used cars? I wouldn't take a New defender across the Sahara like I trust an old series 3 land rover. At least you can fix most problems with a screwdriver, a spanner or a hammer !!! I would start on this one by pulling ALL low down positioned multi-plugs armed with a can of contact cleaner and a toothbrush ,especially those going into ECUs. if still no fix a gallon of petrol and a box of matches…..
  8. Febest are a quality aftermarket choice for consumables like bushes. nissen or mann for best filters. blueprint not so much.
  9. Lexus are best ,why compromise, these michelins are a huge upgrade in my opinion and experience
  10. Sorry I have been away, how is your injector problem going, I stripped the misfiring one but the tip was spraying ok and now reassembled and reinstalled it is worse.! Followed a youtube video…..doh! ……Don’t do it!
  11. Cleaning the rubber seals with white spirit and then spray silicon or a light smear of silicon grease stops convertible roof or sunroof seals leaking in old age
  12. Manufacturers use a flexy non setting windscreen sealant. I use sikaflex ebt (screwfix)in black after I have run a credit card wrapped with a cloth soaked in brake cleaner or white spirit around between glass and rubber. silicon mastic neutral cure, alcohol not acetic also works ok.
  13. A lot of the poor reviews of the EBC pads seem to be the race material like green or red. These are racing pads that are useless or even dangerous for road use as they don't work properly until hot. When cold they feel dead and don't provide much feel of grip. once up to temperature they take very hard repeated braking without fade or drop in performance Not much use coming out of the driveway though!
  14. The drivers seat will tell you how the car has been loved. brake pedal rubber wears on edge at about 100k. check for water marks from leaky roof seals esp in boot. clunky transmission may be water in gearbox
