  1. Apparently not only direct injection but a combo of methods. It is possible but complicated and difficult. I was told estimate about £2300.
  2. called a mechanic and if it is direct injection then the answer is no can do. I believe it to be so?
  3. Can the is250 be run on LPG? Anyone tried?
  4. My is250 has a heated window to defrost the wipers.
  5. My water pump started to make a grinding noise so i took it in and was advised to replace pump, belt and idler pulley. None of those items were cheap but i was more shocked by the labour rate. The rate was £65/hour plus vat. Is that normal outside of a Lexus garage?
  6. I paid £7500 for my 09 SEL with 52000 on , 2 years ago. Autotrader valued it at £6800 last week so £700 depreciation in 2 years. I can live with that.
  7. got a cyndi lauper cd from charity shop and it shows titles and tracks. Apart from my home made mp3s only second cd that i have found which does that.
  8. How do you deal with direction of rotation?
  9. I found the original purchase docs for my car today and it is described as IS250 SE L auto MM. Any idea what MM is for?
  10. I recently had mine done in Chorley. £420 including 6 new spark plugs which were due. Could recommend.
  11. Just had mine serviced. £420 including new plugs. Used Auto centre in Chorley Lancs. Took a while to find someone i trusted but quite happy. Only thing is they suggested i replace the tyres and their in house selection was not to my liking.
  12. Trust a trader, you must be joking. Any clown can join a "trade organisation" if they pay the joining fee. These outfits just take money for nothing. I believe not many genuine traders would give them their hard earned. I would not when i was on the tools.
  13. Yes I believe it is, hence the 15 second delay when cold and no I think there is no valve?
  14. The mileage is 58800 but the service is sketchy for the last few years.
  15. Got her back from mechanics. only fault detected was crankshaft position sensor and advised that may be due to timing chain lacking lubricant on startup and stretching. Will try improved fuel and just monitor.
  16. Sedately mostly. got it booked in for morning so will see what mechanics say.
  17. I have been getting a noisy cold start recently. Sounds like a misfire, pop, pop ,and goes away after 20 seconds or so. The rest of the day it runs fine and starts fine. No lights on dash and no indications of problem. IMG_2367_x264.mp4
  18. I had a similar issue. Left the car at airport for 10 days and returned to find it flat as can be. Only thing running was the alarm and the dashcam. The dashcam should only have worked if jolted so could not fully blame that alone. Drove home 25 miles and it was fine showing 13 to 13.8 volts. Purposely left it alone for 36 hours and it fired up no bother. Been no problem since.
  19. I did not trust the MOT and service record that the car was supposed to have so put it in for an MOT right away. It passed except for a daylight running light being dodgy and i do not think that is even part of the test. It did have a broken mirror housing which was not there when viewed, cost £90 for a second hand one, and the "service" had not changed any air filters so probably not done? When is not, buying a car privately, a gamble?
  20. What is the story with the guys from Oldham? They seem to specialise in IS250's and always have a couple in hand. I got mine there and after sorting a few minor problems myself it is a joy! They must have leads in the Lexus system?
  21. Unless really springy, tape should hold it. if not piece of wood from floor at an angle. will dry in half an hour.
  22. no blob just into joint all along then wipe with paper towel to leave just below surface,
