  1. Every manufacturer seems to have a "sweet spot" in terms of the absolute peak year of quality, before the bean counters got too involved. I wonder which production year Lexus was?
  2. but more research shows: The problem with going towards a lighter battery pack means that you have to switch from NiCad -> Lithium chemistry cells in order to obtain the same power in a smaller package. Lithium cells are more fragile, degrade on their own (even with proper maintenance) and have to be monitored a lot more carefully. They're not really ideal for a high-performance car like this. Youtube some Lithium battery fires....you'll be thankful that those aren't bolted to your trunk

  4. Get Bottas on pole. Lewis starts from the pit lane.
  5. I bet next season that 5 place penalty will be changed to a 10 place one.
  6. Give Lewis a fresh engine for each upcoming race. Only a five place grid penalty so easy to make up.
  7. I have one missing on my drivers vent. I did note that the missing knob looks identical to the knob on my Toyota iQ.
  8. If you live up a mountain then going down will cost pretty much the same in any vehicle. I guess the bigger the battery on a hybrid or PHEV will get you further back up the hill for free than a conventionally fuelled engine. I know in Switzerland my 450h was fully charged on the way down after a couple of minutes. Driving down Everest would not have increased the charge level.
  9. Again with my experience. Car nearly empty. Put in £30 worth of E10. Drive it on motorway for 200 miles. Felt just the same as super unleaded to be honest. Refilled with super unleaded purely because I feel I ought to (as a petrol head).
  10. Cannot smell fuel inside the car. Agree that would be more concerning!
  11. I start mine in the garage and get a faint whiff of fuel. I would imagine this is because it is a 3.5 litre V6 engine. Starting from cold needs a lot of fuel I would have thought. The coolant part. Maybe your radiator has a weep.
  12. Tried £30 worth of E10 today. Motorway driving. Felt ok. Managed to surge nicely in Hybrid Power mode. Obvs went back to super go go juice when that was used up. I would not be able to feel the difference on a blind tasting.
  13. Have you got a link for the dvd?
  14. Had my GS450h for coming up two years. Wife is not a petrol head at all. Pulled up next to her by the roadside to give her a lift, she obviously did not recognise the car. All she said was this big black sexy looking car slowed down next to her, before realising it was just me!
  15. Lexus gave me an amber for misting shock back in June. Non Lexus MOT this week did not mention it.
  16. Maybe in 5 years time for me....... Definitely not going to pay an extra £35k above what my car is worth to get what will be, day to day effect, marginal performance gains and a 7 years younger car.
  17. MOT clean sheet just now. Must be because I just washed it. Tester remarked how good it looked underneath, like a car half its age. Actually managed to do just over 5000 miles in the last year. Valued it for a laugh on webuyanycar. £600 down on what I paid nearly two years ago. Not too bad.
  18. My 2009 car is having MOT tomorrow. Sure it will be a breeze.
  19. Just go the whole hog and get a pipe. Old guy in my village rides around on a tricycle (yes, tricycle) puffing away on his pipe. That is a statement of intent.
  20. You say "regular". ?
  21. Ah but the MK3 is much, much cheaper. Extra smugness.
  22. "Wearing superb tyres". Churchill brand. Must be good.
  23. Axle stands.
