Hi everyone! For those looking to do this mod, I just finished editing a video showing the process! I no longer have it installed for a few reasons: First of all, CEL 😞 Second of all, UNBELIEVABLY LOUD! Why are there so many spammers wanting to buy "any" Lexus?

Hey guys! I got 2 advisories on my MOT and since I'll be selling the IS200 soon (to buy an IS300), I'd like to get these sorted. Advisories: Drive shaft joint constant velocity boot severely deteriorated Nearside Rear [6.1.7(g)(i)] Drive shaft joint constant velocity boot severely deteriorated Offside Rear [6.1.7(g)(i)] The issue is, it doesn't say outer or inner. Is my only option to jack it up and check? It was a few months ago now so the garage probably won't be able to tell me. Any advice please? Thanks! 😊

Over the last year I must have researched the IS200 for hundreds of hours as well as the 2JZ platform, put 'em together and you get an IS300 😄 I understand that the US got the W55, but it's weaker than the A650E. Crest Motorsport do a manual conversion kit using the J160 box, so that's definitely an option down the line. I'll see what the auto is like first. I'll probably go NA-T before I swap the trans though 🙂 Since I've only driven my out manual IS200, I don't know what the IS300 auto box is like. I guess I'll find out and make a decision from there. I'm probably a month away from buying now! 😊

I haven't used it myself so I can't say for sure. But it seems to be one of the only ones I've found and it's probably the one I will get myself in the not too distant future. Maybe someone else who has done this already can chime in.

I've almost got enough saved to make the switch. I'll be looking for a nice example in Jan/Feb. I'm basically looking for: Pretty much any other colour except silver Preferably under 100k miles Well looked after (FSH etc) Black interior, not tan like I have in my IS200 Wish me luck! 😁

I swapped out the orange bulbs for white LEDs and it makes a massive difference! I mean... I'm a car enthusiast, I'm not buying the car as an investment. I'm buying it because I like it and I enjoy the modification process 🙂 Besides, what other RWD, 2JZ Japanese cars can you get for 3-4k? None. I won't be increasing the power anytime soon. A manual swap, some BC coilovers and and a HKS Silent exhaust is all I want. I don't want to mess with the power because I'll be keeping this car until... well until it dies 🙂 I don't want an increase in power to reduce it's reliability. Finally, both the IS200s and IS300s are becoming increasingly sought after. An IS300 with a manual box was never available here in the UK or EU, they won't depreciate. Not that it matters because I'm not buying it to sell it.

Crest motorsport have a manual swap kit for the IS300 (J160 gearbox and bell housing adaptor) so I'll be doing that eventually 🙂 Gotta find myself a decent IS300 first. Hopefully someone here will upgrade to a newer Lexus and part ways with their well-looked after example 😄

Well, you guys and a couple of others have done it... all convinced me. I'm currently saving for an IS300. Going to start the search in the new year.

Today, I went back to the stock manifold after CEL issues. I will not be going back to it 😄

Don't get me wrong, the sound is fine, but the volume is ridiculous. I hope the HKS exhaust will keep it as quiet as I want it. The problem is, it's £500 and doesn't even include a resonator 😞 Hopefully the Japspeed resonator won't cause an issue and the HKS muffler will quieten it down a lot.

So... I've ended up with a FULL Japspeed system. Decat manifold, sports cat and cat back. It's WAY too loud. Does anyone know which would be best out of the following to quieten it down a bit? HKS Silent Hi-Power Cobra Sport (Resonated) Thanks 🙂

I would agree, but the automatic gearbox is holding me back. A manual to me is just an absolute must to enjoy the car fully. I think I'll head down the supercharged route with a 145mm pulley.

I already sorted it by replacing the main cat and rear o2 sensor 🙂 Everything seems to be fine now!

I know. I also have the Japspeed cat back and the sports cat. It's TOO loud for everyday driving. I wish I'd have gotten the HKS Silent Hi-Power.
