  1. Hi, anyone who has a supercharger will know how fiddly taking the supercharger airbox is without losing those 'little screws' especially those at the back. Unfortunately i've lost 3 to date and was wondering if anyone has spare ones or know where i can get them?

In case you forgot, they're the one's which require an allen key to unscrew!

    :crybaby:

  2. Hi does anyone know where I can get my supercharger serviced. Its seems to have developed a ticking noise which can be heard from inside the cabin at times. Its eminating from the compressor unit exactly next to the rubber hosing where the compressor attaches to the airbox. Its definitely coming from inside the unit and is a rotating ticking sound as if it needs greasing.

The compressor was new from feb this year and has done 2000 miles. The noise seems to have started when i took the airbox off (by rotating it 90 degrees) to change the spark plugs. I'm sure nothing fell in. Anyone with this problem.

I know the supercharger makes some noise when idle but this is definitely something else!

  3. Hi, I have tein super street dampers fitted. I had them lowered by my local fitting centre when i had them fitted. They adjusted as low for it to be legal. I was wondering how easy they are to adjust lower by yourself. I've tried taking the wheel off and using the C-spanners but were difficult to turn! Also, I noticed the grooves on the dampers had loadsa dirt and grease all over the place.

Should I be cleaning the whole damper first or just try turning the spanners?

  4. The idle speed was about 100 rpm over?!! The guy said he can adjust it to pass the MOT but the main problem still lies with the high emissions. Even though i get the cat really hot, there's no guarantee that they'll test the car immediately when i drop it off. May sit there for a few hours? Wouldn't i get the same problem if i went for a performance manifold as opposed to just taking pre-cats out?

    Solution anyone?

  5. Went for a MOT today and failed due to high CO2 emission (double the limit!) and a high resting idle speed.

I have the following mods, anyone with a similar story?

    99 reg

    45k miles

    supercharger

    pre-cats removed

    standard main cat

    prolex exhaust

    otherwise no other engine mods

no exhaust warning lights on either

Took the car in for a diagnostic and they said it wasn't due to the engine management. He recommended me to put the pre-cats back in and then re-test. I just wanna ask you guys if anyone has had a similar problem? Is this guy talking crap or is it true?

To be fair, I went to the same guy last year for a MOT when my car didn't have the supercharger and pre-cats still installed and passed no problem.

I dont really want to get new pre-cats fitted as i spent money getting them removed in the first place!

Spoke to Mark at Tdi and he said you have to really warm up the main cat, (didn't seem to help tho today during the re-test).

Also, the resting idling speed has increased even after a good spin in the car, does the supercharger cause this?

What do you think i should do, get new pre-cats, change main cat or is it something else?

Anyone know where i can get an emission test fro free?

Lots of questions i know, but really need help as my tax disc has expired and so need this :tsktsk: MOT certificate!

  6. Hi, does anyone know if there is a specific fuse for the rear fog lamps or is it piggy backed with something else or is there no fuse at all? It seems my rear fogs aren't working and it doesn't seem to be the bulb. All my other lights work fine.

  7. From your picture it seems that the rubber fitting has slipped out. If you look along the edge of the black rubber you will see a groove going right around the rim. The metal teeths of the casing needs to be in the groove. It takes a bit of yanking but it will slip in nicely and then you wont have any movement at all. No glueing required! :winky:
