  1. I'm asking because I saw a two tone GS300 with Sport pack recently and it had black and grey bodywork with grey leather interior. It had tinted windows and the dark interior set the tints off nicely. I have the light leather interior (Oakham?) in my black '96 GS Sport.
  2. I read somewhere that the RX300's clear side repeaters fit the Series II GS300 and upon inspecting the Series II GS they look the same as mine. Although saying that, maybe it was that RX's fit an IS. :eerrrmm:
  3. I was going to start a thread on this, but found this one. I've noticed the same thing with my '96 GS300 Sport that Mac 600 described: you can feel my drivers seat heat up on the seat and the lower back, but I can't feel my passenger seat at all. My Dad has a '95 GS300 and his passenger seat works like my driver's seat, so I'm inclined to say my passenger seat doesn't work. :( Is there any test/diagnostic to see whether it's working or not? Are there seperate fuses for each seat and one could've blown? How easy/expensive is it to fix heated seats, what does it entail? Any information greatly received.
  4. I just wanted to say that my membership pack arrived yesterday, so I now have my card and feel like a fully fledged Gold Member. :D
  5. doesn't mean anything. They make so many mistakes with their spec sheets/web site. Probably just copied the J spec and forgot that speaker wasn't there Lazy :tsktsk: s! :winky: Out of curiosity where would the ninth speaker be anyway?
  6. To be honest I've never heard any sound emit from the dash speaker on a UK car, I can notice the front tweets, but the sheet that Mudzs is referring to is for the UK spec model. I wonder if the dash speaker is actually two directional speakers, one pointing left and one right, as opposed to one speaker. That would make nine then. :winky:
  7. More often than not my changer is full of R&B, rap and dancehall, but I might go for Coldplay, classical, jazz, swing etc. It depends on my mood.
  8. Does anyway know if there are any after market CD changers that are compatible with the stock headunit? I'm interested in upgrading to a changer that can decode MP3s along with regular CDs if it's possible, but I don't really want to install different audio throughout the car.
  9. I've been with Direct Line the last few years and they've remained competitive and have been really easy to deal with: renewals, change of car etc.
  10. "Who are you?!" "I'm Batman. I want you to tell all your friends about me."
  11. I couldn't find anything out on the Lexus web site other than the basics: Anti-theft protected 9 speaker, 3 wave-band radio and Dolby stereo cassette system. Compact disc player with remote 12 disc CD autochanger. Radio features automatic height adjustment aerial, one-touch tuning with 18 presets and full network scanning facility including RDS. But what I'd like to know are the real details: brand, power output of the speakers and sub, impedance, what size is the sub (8/10/12"?) etc. I look forward to your replies.
  12. I didn't think window tints affected the insurance? It hasn't affected the premium on my last two cars. Let me know how you get on with your insurance.
  13. I think this is a great idea. :) I assume the Gold lounge will be updated accordingly so there is one point of reference for all negotiated deals.
  14. When I was at Billing a couple of years ago I visited the Lexus stand as my Dad had a 1994 LS400 at the time (not at Billing) and I picked up some leaflets, one was promoting LOC, so I saved the link as a favourite. When I looked at buying one recently I referred to LOC Forums for help and now that I own one I check the site frequently. My Dad now has another too.
  15. I've used 'regular' Super Unleaded and Optimax before in previous cars and noticed a marginal difference in performance, but I never realised that you got better MPG with it. Once I'm low enough I'll try some Optimax again and pull the EFI fuse, as described in the Knowledge Base, to speed up the ECU learning, then I'll clock my MPGs to compare to Premium Unleaded. My Dad says he's noticed his 1995 GS300 engine pink on occasions with premium unleaded when driving in warm weather conditions.
  16. Edit: I've updated this opening post with the important information. Side repeaters part numbers and details I phoned Lexus and established the difference between the two part numbers: 81730-20220 is the complete unit, which comprises of the clear lens, lamp holder, rubber seal and orange bulb. 81731-20220 is just the clear lens. Side repeaters fitting instructions To fit them you just need to push the lens from front to back and pull it out to remove it from the body and then you twist the lamp holder to unlock it from the lens. I went for the complete part, 81730-20220, and have successfully fitted the same ones to both my old 1996 Series I GS300 Sport and current 2003 Series II GS430 Sport.
  17. My Dad and I went over it with a fine tooth comb and were happy with it. I was surprised to see the alloys in as good a condition as they were after hearing many stories about how poor Lexus alloys can be (one was from a Lexus dealer too). It's in excellent condition really for its age and has a full service history, so I couldn't really ask for more. I'm pleased with it and it's lovely to drive.
  18. I'm 24 and have got a GS300 Sport Mark 1. This is my first Lexus and one I've had my eye on for a few years, but never seriously thought that I'd buy one. I love it, it's comfortable, quiet and luxurious. My Dad's owned a couple and that's when I got to experience the brand first hand before having the opportunity to buy my own. Thankfully I've come from a three litre car (300ZX Z31 auto) to this so that wasn't an issue, in fact I get more to the gallon. B)
  19. One of the things that was suggested to me was to see if the pollen filters were blocked up, apparently this can cause a lesser circualtion of air con air.
  20. That's good, I must get mine done while the weathers nice. I will probably get mine done through Lexus as it's due a service too so I can get them both done on the same day for convenience.
  21. (Fish Brothers) Lexus Swindon have quoted me £95 (and they take it to (Fish Brothers) Honda to do). Amazing how the price varies so much for the same thing.
  22. I used to have the EBC Greenstuff pads (front) on a previous car and am going to get a set for the Lexus (I love the lack of break dust from them), but at the time my other car was due discs so I got EBC Turbo Groove discs too. Are the Greenstuff pads okay to use with standard Lexus discs or should I replace these too? EDIT: My question has been answered in the Gold Lounge.
