Has anyone had a go at doing an update via a USB stick? I've downloaded a spring 2024 update via the lexus uk site but given some of the replies here and the NX forum I'm a bit wary of trying personally. My new RX has a map dated Mar 2023 which is a bit out of date to be honest.

I do have a Takumi, if you had posted this last week I was up visiting my mum in the Stockport area and we could have met up. I don't think I'm up there again until the Christmas break which might be a bit of a wait. Currently the RX450h+ is discounted down (I got an additional 3-4k off) with a 1.9% apr on the finance, I'm guessing this part of trying to hit net zero targets. Mine was delivered fairly quickly, although I think it was an existing order that I picked up. Ordered on 28-Aug delivered on 4-Oct. I was told mid october for delivery and I probably could have gone a few days earlier for pickup. My one annoyance is the speed limit system which needs too many presses on the screen to set to audio only (although turning it off completely is only two or three presses IIRC) On the plus side the larger battery is great and after a full charge and on a longer trip I managed 50+ miles on EV only (according to Lexus Link app) going down the hills into Castleford the regen braking managed to boost the range by a couple of miles. Also mpg was over 50mpg which is a lot better than the 30+ mpg I got from the previous generation.

Yeah, we have an IFA who we're probably going to work with but it's going to take a while before he can give sensible advice, we already doing some gifting and I'm hoping not to get caught by the seven year rule (sadly in my fathers case we were caught for chunk for trust related reasons) Currently IHT is an issue, which at least is a "better class of problem" as ex co-worker used to say. It could be finding funds for day to day living instead.

I had been hoping to inherit what was left in a SIPP drawdown pension from my mother (my sister is in America so her getting half would have been more of a tax pain) thats now less attractive. One option would appear to be gifting out of of normal income by drawing down out of the pension earlier (see link below), otherwise currently it looks like it's going to be 40% inheritance tax + what ever income tax you need to pay (probably 20% for most retirees) so an effective rate of 52% for lower rate tax payers. I can say that Lexus Woodford (at the Hainault workshop) have a body shop and I'm 99% sure Jemca have a body shop down at Croydon (Lexus insurance offered that as option). Hainault did the repair on mine after someone crashed into my gate which hit the rear of the car and I thought the colour match was good.

Thanks all... Sounds like cards aren't being sent out anymore. Probably worth a quick call anyway as I seem to recall last time I had to register my wife as an extra driver (might not be required any more)

A quick question for anyone who has recently bought a new Lexus... I've just bought a new RX and I haven't yet had a card through for Lexus roadside assistance, are they still sending them out or is that a thing of the past? If they are sending them out, how long after purchase did that take? I'm trying to figure out if I should chase the dealer / lexus

Sadly @Xez is correct and I was setting the DRCC not the RSA limit, sadly although the option is listed in the manual to set this for the RSA I suspect we've been lumped into the EU/NI category and we can't change the setting (I can't see it in the car):

Today this well packed parcel arrived from China.. With a letter from Toyota North America for customs. After removing the outer layers this was revealed... So whats in the box? It's a RX450h+ "dealership" 1/18 model from China via samodelcar.com Comes with these elastic bands with hooks on the end to keep the doors closed (bit of pain to remove) ) Okay time for a look inside... We get a little hook tool clipped underneath the plinth to help All nicely detailed inside front seats can slid back and forward and the little instruction book says the armrest can be opened. I've failed to open it and I don't want to force things. View from the front And the detailed (although I've no idea how accurate) underside with suspension and working steering to the wheel The engine bay looks good And you can remove the engine cover (it's held on with magnets The boot also opens And the floor comes out too Anyway I rather like it and it will be going on a shelf above my computer to remind me why I need to keep on working to afford new toys... Cost shipped was $163.17 including the discount code, I think the same guy also retails via ebay. If you decide to purchase one, removing it off the plinth takes four screws and the little stand pieces will fall out so be careful, I managed to find mine on the floor so no harm done.

For me they were insisting on a cat 2 immobilizer with this wording from the email: With links to both websites, when I swapped vehicles I was told in a chat message that I didn't need an immobilizer on a Gen5 RX and to be honest I suspect a database cockup that no-one wants to fix and "tell the customer to fit an immobilizer" is the easier solution. I had an issue at renewal since the immobilzer fitted to my Gen 4 RX by Lexus Insurance wasn't noted in the system, I have a feeling the company running the insurance stuff on Lexus behalf has changed and the IT infrastructure hasn't really caught up.

It seems like Lexus insurance don't want my business too. Insisting on adding a cat 2 Thatcham immobilizer seems a bit off, time for a letter to Lexus HQ I feel it's not "providing the best possible customer ownership experience" as advertised on the Lexus website. I'm surprised they didn't want to insure you Ken, unless the kingdom is now a hot bed of car thefts, and yes I agree on the OEM fitted security, so far the only security issue with the new toyota / lexus system I've seen requires access to the security module after digging through the dash and reprogramming a new key.

I've been insured with Lexus Insurance as their quotes weren't too far from everyone else and they use OEM parts and Lexus garages for repairs. When I bought my RX450h+ I was told via their chat system as I swapped insurance from my gen 4 RX I wouldn't need an immobilizer (as I expeced since the CANBUS theft issue is solved by encryption). I got an email shortly after the policy going live saying that I would need to fit an immobilizer. After a few back and forth phone calls the end result is that they are insisting.... As a result I've cancelled my policy with them and gone over to Aviva who are happy to insure the RX450h+ without me needing an immobilizer, I'm reluctant on a brand new car as I'm a little unhappy with folks messing with the wiring and creating a battery drain I'm wondering if anyone else with a RX450h+ has insurance with Lexus Insurance and been asked to fit an immobilizer? My suspicion is that as the policy was "copied" from the gen 4 documents the "needs an immobilizer" flag got copied over rather than being reset and I'd love to know. (My next task is probably getting the NCD documentation which is probably going to be painful.... sigh...)

Ah, there appears to be two settings, you're right and I've changed the DRCC one and I'm guessing the RSA one gets reset everytime. Somewhat annoying that it's "setting varies according to country" which is nice and vague.

Well my new RX450h+ Takumi has been picked up and is now sat on my driveway looking splendid (I think) in Sonic Copper. Too many bongs on the drive back, but at least you can set the "You've exceeded the speed limit" one to add 4 mph. The can't see driver one is annoying, but I'm hoping a bit of playing will make that less of a nuisance...

Difficult to be certain... I'm getting 28K and a quick look on AutoTrader / Lexus UK shows a few around 30-33K for a 2020 RX450h depending on spec / mileage. Mines low mileage so my guess is the dealer should have a 3-4K profit margin which doesn't seem too unreasonable and it's zero hassle on my behalf.

I just did a similar sort of deal on my RX450h+ Takumi (which I'm picking up on Friday) after I got sick of the Gen 4 theft issues. I did look at part-ex on the gen 4 RX when the gen 5 cars came out and the monthly payments were double with an APR of 8% from memory. I did get a dealer discount of around 4K on top of the 4K deposit contribution. The only real issue for me is the size of the final payment on the PCP deal (I think it's ~50% of the final car price) I think this is only available on the PHEV models so I suspect it's to help get the manufacturers meet their 0% emission requirements for this year. The RZ is available on a 0% deal but range anxiety is very real for me with family in Manchester / Edinburgh. I didn't go through CarWow this time, but last time used them for a discount, so I'd guess most dealers are offering something for the PHEV.

I've been reading this thread over on the US forums and I'm wondering if we've been seeing the same thing in the UK https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-5th-gen-2023-present/1019997-dead-12v-battery-incident-merged-threads.html Sounds like a lot of this is keys / phone apps waking up the cars communication modules, but one thing I noticed is if you're going to use the "official" lexus grounding point you'll need longer leads.

This video from the car care nut might be helpful: I've not watched the video again, but if it's the same problem one option he suggested was just cleaning off the oil and keeping an eye on consumption. Otherwise it does seem to be an engine out job.

I believe so, I'm going on what the technician said and the parts list on the invoice as I didn't bother to dig around in the engine bay before I dropped it off.

I have given up on Lexus fixing this. Sadly another attempt on my Gen 4 happened on Friday, the Lexus insurance installed immobiliser worked so the car only moved around two feet but this is attempt number three on my car. This is going to cost around 800 GBP to get fixed as the toerags damaged the wheel arch trim. Interestingly they didn't get through the plate this time and the exterior damage looked a bit worse so I'm not sure if it's new way into the CANBUS. I've just bought a Gen 5 RX450h+ instead today and I'm part-exing the Gen 4 with the dealer as if it's going to cost 800 quid every six months the joy has gone from the car. Just got to hope nothing happens between here and mid-october when I get the Gen 5.

I suspect it's the same thing @AWC anyway I've bought a Gen 5 today and it's already appeared in Lexus link. Now to wait for the arrival from Japan.

Yeah, I was going to ask the dealer (although mistakes can happen so getting an answer in writing might be an idea). Alex's answer suggests it's present on the UK cars, if not as useful as I hoped. The other question I have (after a quick peruse of the manual) is the cruise control. On my Gen 4 once set it works down to zero mph and this is great when you're stuck in a slow moving motorway situation, just let the car keep the distance from the car in front and you only need to hit resume if the car stops for more than 5 or so seconds. Interestingly the Gen 4 manual mentions "full speed range" which isn't present in the Gen 5 manual (which sort of implies cruise control can get cancelled if the speed drops too much)so I'm wondering if this has changed?
