Hi,
Can someone advise me if you have to remove the exhaust when you lower the sump oil pan to re-seal it due to a leak please, My tech is saying he needs to and everything I see online i don't think you do.
Could someone advise me?
Many thanks!

A clean bill of health from the yearly MOT test on my 2007 350 SE-L here in the UK, I bought this in January to use as one of my dailys and have put nearly 10k miles on it and it now has 73400 miles on it.
When I bought it I had a full service to include plugs, all filters, rear brake discs (rotors) and pads plus the slider pin kits and since then it's been a joy to drive, this week I had front discs (rotors), pads with slider pin kit and both front suspension drop links replaced and next week 2 rear tyres go on. I also went through all of the known water leak areas and sorted all of those plus cleaned the headlights with one of those kits from an automotive store.
It's been a total joy to own and even though it's 16 years old, it's well spec'd and very confortable and i intend to keep it for a while now, it shares the drive with 2 other far more expensive cars but I always choose this to jump into as it's just so easy in every way...
Cheers Greg

Thanks Bill, I've used them in the past with my GS430 Sport, recently i had a major service done on the RX with them and the attention to detail with oil marks in the car and other things has put me off using them again although being close ish to where i live.
Also when I asked for the cam cover gaskets to be replaced whilst they had it stripped to do the plugs, they were not done, when asking upon collection he said "oh its just some excess oil from when someone has topped it up" I'm far from stupid and an ex mechanic from many years ago so know what i'm talking about as its leaking onto the exhaust manifold and smelling - Hence why I will not be using them again...
Its now booked in with Paul at Toyotatech in Guildford who is an hour away from my home but from his initial calls and emails, he seems the person I want to deal with. plus his reviews are excellent.

Thanks for your help.when I get a dry day I will start with checking the sun roof drains.then also where it's coming in around the rear door.the rear lights have some condensation in them so once I find how to remove them I will fit new gaskets if they have or use some sealent.
I've seen the previous posts on how to clear sun roof drains so hopefully this will work.
All the information i needed for everything I've done on my RX since getting it in February i got from this Forum and also a Facebook group..... very helpful people within both groups...

One thing i forgot that i did too is to make sure the Air con condensor drain tube is clear that runs from behind the bottom of the dashboard and out under the car by the gearbox, these can block and dump water into the (uk) drivers side footwell...

A very common issue with the early RX's and I've just gone through all this on my newly purchased 2007 RX 350, I also had damp front mats and water getting into the boot running down both rear roof sides staining the trim.
The first thing to do is the sunroof drains and one of the main culprits for these issues, 2 drains holes at the front and 2 at the back... the front are easier which you can see at the front of the sunroof rails when open, the rears are hidden within the roof and the rear panels of the car need to be removed as the drain tubes are more than likely kinked/crimped as many and I have found which leads to the backing up of water and leaking into the side trims and into the floor area - to clear these blow some air gently down the holes (front) or I used an old curtain wire that fits perfectly... test when done putting some water down the holes and it should come out just behind the front wheel.
The second are the roof rail mountings, very easy to remove the rails and seal around the mountings with silicon sealant
The third are the roof body seams at the back of the roof rails going down towards the boot hatch
The fourth are the tailgate strut mounts, seal all round these with silicon
The fifth are around the rear lights
The sixth are the body seams behind the rear bumper
This all sound scary but are very easy to do and the main culprits are the sunroof drains, roof rail mountings and rear lights... I sealed 1 - 5 on the list with clear silicon sealant and so far its all dry even after all this rain we've had recently.
More than happy to talk on the phone if needed.
Cheers and good luck!

Looking for a good trusted, respected specialist to service and do general maintenance on my 2007 RX350 near Reading/Wokingham - I don't want a general "all Japanese cars" garage.
Can anyone help me?
Cheers Greg

Sounds like a thermostat issue you have there, stuck open or closed....

An old thread revival - I'm back in a Lexus after a few years and have just bought a 2007 RX350SE-L as a 2nd car with 65k miles and have all the problems above, I'll be stripping the back of the car out to seal everywhere and clear the rear sunroof drains and also removing the roof rails to seal those too. I've cleared the front sunroof drains.
@Siberpir8 Did you finally get to the bottom of all your leaks?
Cheers Greg
Had the car just over 2 weeks and been working through the water leak areas.... Sealed up the roof bar fitting points, cleaned and blown out front sunroof drains, stripped the rear out tonight and found one severely collapsed rear sunroof drain where I cut about 2" off and refitted.. all good now, the other side was blown out too and both sides fished through with a curtain wire... Pulled Aircon drain tube off and blown that out too.
Sealed the rear roof seams at the top of the tailgate and also rear hatch strut mounts, last job to do tomorrow is remove the rear lights and seal all those up so they don't let any water in or mist up....accomplished allot in the 2 weeks I've had it... Had a full Hunter alignment too...
It's booked in for a Major service, spark plugs and both rocker gaskets as they're leaking plus rear discs (rotors) and pads next week.....

Need some help please - I have a rare triple black GS430 Sport with 81k miles, I've spent a small fortune on it since I've had it with a complete front suspension refresh, every arm, knuckle etc and full 4 wheel Hunter align, Wheels refurbed with no marks and fitted with Toyo rubber - BC Coilovers set to comfort - Stainless exhaust with sensible 3" pipes and tone. Great MOT/Service history. Ice cold Aircon and everything works as it should. When I sell it I'll write up a very comprehensive advert
What sort of price should I advertise at? I'm in no hurry and I'm not giiving it away...
Cheers Greg

400 miles in and all good as gold.... re-checked alignment and slightly out after settling, all good now - next up cut out exhaust joints and replace next week as chuffing a bit....
The car has 86k miles now, what sort of value does it have?

-
The bottom arms and bolts had to be cut off and took nearly 3 hours for both sides as bolts seized inside bushes..... absolute nightmare!!!

I used Febi parts which are as good as if not better than OEM... it's tight and straight as an arrow now...
-
Since I bought the 430 its felt so loose on the front end and wanders a bit as more than sure one of the previous must have wound the BK coilovers to rock hard wearing all the standard suspension out, its now running at its waftiness, I thought I'd replace the whole front end with Febi components and tighten it all up again. All done and now re-aligned perfectly on a Hunter... tight as a drum...a few creaks as it settles and after a couple of 100 miles I'll get it re-checked and all tightened. I had to buy new Camber bolts from Lexus at £35 a side (bolt washer and nut) and cut the old ones off....also had a faulty ABS sensor after getting it back together so a breakers supplied a new/used one..... here's the pics.... Well worth the £££

My 430 Sport is my first Lexus and it was bought as a daily to keep the miles down on my other cars... That being said I love the thing, its so comfortable and goes well for a large car... Mine had been 'played' with by the previous owner and IMO it looked awful... I could see through all this and it took a month to souce the standard bits needed to put back to how it left the factory cosmetically and now its back to a standard looking triple black (rare) GS430 Sport.
I've just purchased a complete set of front suspension arms, ball joints, track rod ends and ant-roll bar bushes as theres a few front end knocks etc so when this is done it'll all be brand new and tight again... My son will take it off me in a year or so as he's fallen in love with it.

I've found this great site in Holland (Winparts.co.uk) and have just ordered a complete front suspension setup for my GS430 Sport - I've gone for best quality Febi products, as good or better than OEM - price up your parts.... Great service....

I have Porsche ones in my other cars, they're compact and work very well.. They also come up on eBay now and again...

When i bought the 430 it had huge 4" tail pipes and a stainless Powerflow exhaust that gave it a nice V8 burble but too loud for me and droned under acceleration and motorway allot. My exhaust shop said it was due to them using round back boxes (not sure why) but i guess its how the gases circulate.
What he did was cut the back surface out of both of the exhaust boxs where the tailpipe goes in, insert a length of pipe (not sure of length) into the box and re-weld up putting 3" tailpipes on. This quitened it down enough and stopped the droning. I have no idea why this works but it does and its cured the droning and just has lovely V8 burble to go with the Lexus prestige looks

2 rear Avon ZX7 tyres
Aircon regassed
August 2024
Both rocker cover gaskets (common leak issues)
Replace Engine sump gasket (leaking)
3 x rear coil packs replaced (did at same time as gaskets as expensive job)
These cars also suffer from water ingress into the cabin, when i got it i cleaned all sunroof drains and sealed up the roof rail attachments, rear hatch strut mounts and some body seals, all areas where water gets in.
The wheels are unmarked with fresh tyres, no bumper scuffs and in a very presentable dark blue with full grey leather. Wood trim steering wheel and gear shift.
Many of these on the market are mostly with over 100k + miles, also the 350 has a Cam chain and not a Cambelt like the 300 and 400 hybrid,
I'd like £4250 for it and its had all the nasty jobs done, plus a fresh MOT is being done on Monday October 20th.
MOT history can be found on its current reg CIG 211.
