Excellent Peter, welcome to the RX club 🙂 I'm sure you will enjoy your new steed, please post a few more pictures when you have the chance 🙂

Just be mindful that the “plan” is linked to “that” dealership, so should you be thinking off moving / not best pleased with the service etc ?
Apart from that the plane does give a discount over the stand alone prices.
I asked a similar question when offered to take out a 3 year service plan with my RX I bought from Lexus Milton Keynes (as I live in Gtr Manchester). They informed me the service plan they were offering could be used at any Lexus dealership. I paid just over £1000 in 2019, so I think this has worked out cheaper than paying to individual services (not yet had the 3rd service).

I holidayed in St. Ives for many years in the 80s and early 90s. Lovely part of the world, but takes ages to get to (from NW England 🙂). I always thought when I got to Exeter, 'not too far to go now' 😄

No issues with Lexus Milton Keynes with me either - I bought my RX from them in 2019 (at a distance, living in Gtr Manchester). Mind you, not as far as from Cornwall! 😉

Had an Alfsud in 198? whatever and it was a fine car when it was not in the garage being fixed. Did that answer your question? No! That was so long ago that maybe they are hopefully now better.
My experiences were more recent, with a 156 and a GT (both V6s). I was never left stranded, but suffered several more minor problems, and the quality of various components left a lot to be desired. Fine cars to drive though 😎

I'll just add I've had some very good customer service from Lexus MK and Stockport in the past. Service I've had in dealerships from other marques has not been quite as good, although some (Jaguar) have been better than others (Alfa Romeo).

I have LKA switched on all the time (and find it especially useful on motorway journeys with the adaptive cruise control enabled), but I disable it when driving on narrow country roads, where occasionally I will pass over the central dashed road lines. For some reason, the noise of the vibration reminds me of a quacking duck, but maybe that's just me! 😄

I can understand your hesitancy, as it is a big financial commitment. Definately need to take an extended test drive to see if the RX is satisfactory for your needs. 0-60 is around 7.5s, which in my opinion is quick enough for an SUV. When I took a test drive in an RX at Lexus Stockport, the salesman asked if there were any particular roads I would like to test the car out on. I wanted to see how the RX would perform on the motorway accelerating from, say, 50 to 70mph. They had absolutely no problem with this, so hopefully you'll also be able to request if there are any particular road types or scenarios in which you would like to test the car.

I'm in the light interior camp/anything but black camp. I've had light interiors in my last two cars (most of my previous interiors have been black, out of neccesity/lack of alternative, rather than choice). My current RX has the Ivory and Noble Brown combination:
Prior to that, I had a Jaguar XF with ivory leather:

The RX will also manage up to about 45mph on the traction Battery alone, provided it has sufficient charge.

I'm getting an average of 37 mpg at the moment while the weather is warm. I usually get about 32 mpg in the winter. I've had upto 38-41mpg on longer journeys up to Fife this year, and Sutherland and Caithness last year. Overall average is about 35 mpg on all roads over 10500-odd miles.

Hi David, I thought the Parking Assist Monitor is only displayed while the car is in Reverse, so I'm unsure of an answer to this. Hopefully someone more knowlegable than myself will be along soon to help you 🙂

Congrats on your new purchase Eric, I'm sure you've made the right decision - the 4th generation RX is pretty darn good. Please let us see some pictures when you have the chance 🙂

Lexus Stockport offered to do mine at the 2 year service, but I also declined. I probably wouldn't have the air con service done if the system is still working well.

Excellent, I remember the Ford Puma one well. Really convincing special effects at the time. The LS400 / LS500 adverts were great too 🙂

The Peugeot 405 advert was fantastic. I remember this Ford one from years ago:
Also, not a car advert per se, but one that sticks in my memory banks (spoof of a Fiat advert I think) 😄

Noticed on my test drive that the new NX has the classic Lexus female voice, but there's a different one for the actual road names...
Sounded more Google maps like.
My RX has two female voices too, with certain road names being spoken by the 2nd voice. I've nicknamed the main voice on my sat-nav as Doris 😄 Sometimes she seems to pronouce 'High Street' as 'Higher Street', but again that might be my hearing 😄

I had a short walkthrough of certain features when I bought my nearly new RX in 2019. The dealer also asked me if I had any questions (I did have a few), but he was happy to answer them. As others have said, the manuals are a mine of information but are quite lengthy. It's possible to order paper copies of the full manuals from Lexus UK if you prefer reading them rather than from a phone/tablet/computer (or at least this was the case when I asked last year).
