The quote I got was for a FULL flush meaning every last bit of old oil replaced with fresh new oil and filters so £500 is very fair.
Bogdan £300 will only replace upto 2.5 litres of oil out of near 8 litres.
Thanks for the heads-up. Will make sure to ask how much they can take out & replace. They all mentioned replacing filters and the gasket so thought it would take all the oil out.
I thought the flush meant they add detergents/chemicals for a deep clean.

Called up 3 local-ish places and they all quoted under £300 for a sump down, filter and gasket replacement and refill. Will get it booked in for the new year

Considering doing this as my car just got over 100k miles now. Any recommendations for shops around Coventry/west midlands?

@MattDH think I saw your IS listed for sale on Facebook? any reasons you're looking to part ways with it?

Just had a wheel sorted by Speedy Wheels Hawkins Lane Burton on trent whilst I waited? Worth giving them a call depending on extent of damage as to whether you can get a same day service.
I'm looking to get all 4 powered coated and the guy I plan on using doesn't do same day. Might go with a different company if I can't get my hands on some wheels

Anyone have any cheap wheels for sale or that I could borrow for a week? Want to get mine refurbed and the shop don't have loaner wheels in Lexus spec.
Not bothered about condition as long as they have legal tyres.
Based in Nuneaton/Coventry but travel for work in Solihull too.

Nothing worse than a droning exhaust.
Expecting mine go soon, 12 years old now.
The nearer the new one sounds like the old one, the better.
The eBay OEM alternatives don't last too long unfortunately, so it sounded like a good alternative at the time. Saw on eBay a "sport" exhaus but made of aluminum, so there shouldn't be any drone. Would be interesting to hear if anyone decides on getting it

Blimey Bogdan I forgot all about this post. Glad you finally got the exhaust sorted and then curing the drone noise. Thanks for letting us all know.
Well, tried to give it as long as I could to see if the droning would be any better before I went back to the shop and posted an update. Not happy with the result overall, but at least the backboxes won't rust away now 🙂

How is the insurance like compared to the is250?

Update on this - ended up fitting DB killers this evening as the droning/loud humming noise under load at 1.5-2.5k revs was killing me. Sound is back to stock now, but happy to compromise so far.
The DB killers were £15 for the pair and removed the end cap so it's not too restrictive.
The DB Killers were my last resort, as went back to the shop but they weren't willing to make any changes unless I paid for them - the idea of a J-pipe or and X-pipe was discarded as they said it wouldn't have helped unless I went with a system that included the mid pipe as well. Not happy with the result of my second visit as the sound was supposed to be "non-intrusive" and "sound sportier under acceleration" but in reality it went absolutely quiet after 3k revs.
Anyhow, the lesson learnt is to go for a proper exhaust rather than just backbox replacement...

I think that still leaves the unanswered question…why?
I’m sure you had your reasons, but unless you had a problem being seen driving around in an IS250, I can’t really see the point.
As an IS250 owner, should I be worried?
I do recall someone buying a standard Mini and putting Cooper badges on it. But I’m not sure it ever actually fooled anyone!
As with any visual mod it's up to the owner's preference and taste. Window tints, custom number plates, polishing, de-chroming, de-badging etc are just visual enhancements/ mods to make the car look better in the eyes of the owner. It doesn't need to have a practical benefit.

Question about Carista as no matter what I do I cannot get Techstream to work at all so I am considering the Carista app and would benefit from the lexus wners experience .
On the Carista website they only list IS250 3rd gen as compatible , Has anyone used it on a 2nd gen XE20 Model succesfully ?
I would like to read autobox,ABS,Airbag etc including activating items.
Many Thanks
This is the link to the virtual machine I was saying

for our cars Carista is only good to read faults - as Linas said.
there was an aussie guy on youtube showing how to run a virtual machine on your computer that was loaded with techstream - I'll have a look to see if I find the link

Yep I had the same thing, replaced the same blue print filter with an OEM one and too remarked at their difference in thickness!
cost saving measure I assume - as long as it does the same job should be fine

It is kind of funny, but that vinyl matches the leather on the door trim almost perfectly. Just coincidence, but it almost looks like it meant to be there (bar few mistakes which meant to happen doing it first time).
any worries for the passenger side airbag with the area now being covered in vinyl?

Well, my first foray into Lexus ownership didn't last very long due to a nice gentleman 'driving' a Mercedes Sprinter box van (N.B. if anyone was curious about Mercedes Sprinter vs. Lexus, I can tell you the Mercedes won...). Took out the Peugeot parked in front of me too just to show it wasn't personal. Friday 13th indeed 🤬
Not Friday, but Sunday and considerably less damage...

It was on the maintenance list and cheap enough to be done so went with it. I did a big service after I got the car and tried to check as many things possible from the servicing list for peace of mind.

I keep a similar log with most thigs I did to the car since I got it in July 2020. I do this largely as the car didn't come with a service book so that's kind of my service history during my ownership

Usually people do a chrome delete by trimming it all off and then wrapping it in black vinyl. I started cutting mine off as it's in a similar state and will probably wrap it as well. Or you could use plasti-dip but not sure how good that will look as it usually has a grainy finish
Replacing the trims is expensive from what I know and you'll need to take the door card to unclip it.

Mine's a 55plate and find it behaves the same. I just live with it now but used to annoy the sh#t out of me. The previous owner managed to set the speedometer light to come up at 70mph so at least I have that...

I'll take a chance (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/332524850898?fits=Car+Make%3ALexus&hash=item4d6c068ed2:g:FygAAOSw7WJgR17n).
They look correct to me too.
It'll be the third time the guy has taken the wheel apart and I hope these will be the right ones else I will be paying labour. Thanks for the help. Its shocking to me why Lexus Dealers can't sell the bottom pin but sell the top pin.
Hey man, let me know how this goes. I have a 55plate and just got the sliding pin kits for the front and rear breaks, but think I have the same issue with the rear pins. The ones I got look like the ones on the right side of your pic.
