  1. I bought mine for the quality and cruising comfort. We have an MX5 for silly stuff in corners. One bit of advice, of you're trying to corner hard on public roads, buy an MX5, the steering is so communicative, you can run over a bank note and know the value printed on it. The Lexus isn't designed for anything like this.

It would be good if the SatNav could update itself. E.g If you are travelling at 30 MPH or more "through a field" then it is probably a new road and should plot it and add to its mapping.

And how would it know that the field is now a road? Or even if a road had been moved and deleted as at Manchester Airport recently.

Nail right on the head there........brand perception is everything.

It is amazing how many hoops brands can make you jump through to acquire one of their products.. You should check out Hermes bags, a friend told me that she had to ask for an appointment to go to one of their shops 3 times before they gave her a date she could go.

when she went in they made her wait ages then asked her what she wanted the bag for, the sales assistant then left the shop floor 15 mins later came back with a bag.

only choice was to buy the bag or never get another appointment there for no choice over the bag.

I told her she was dumber than a sack of hammers (or words to that effect).

She didn't walk out in disgust, my wife would have.

  4. If you make a car that is far more reliable than almost anything else in the world, you risk having nothing to do to make a profit. The Honda dealership in Crewe closed down recently due to only selling cars and servicing.

Singer Sewing Machines had to offer a part ex deal on the ones they made in the 1950's to the 1970's in order to sell new ones, the old machines lasted too long.

Mercedes were the best cars in the world in the 1970's, but profits tumbled, so the accountants took over from the engineers, and now they're complete crap.

  5. Thank you very much. I didn't even know the rear seats were heated or vented!

I've now formulated a plan to turn this vehicle to a healthy profit. My wife is a nurse in a fertility clinic, occasionally they get men in with a very low sperm count. I'm going to charge them for a lift home with the seat ventilators on, after all, they recommend keeping the area cool to improve the chances!

  6. After some ten years of Honda ownership, I've bought my first Lexus. It's a 63 plate IS300h F Sport with 28,800 on the clock and it's perfect. It has memory heated and ventilated seats and more features than I can figure out.

The drive is impressive to say the least and I'm already sneering at BMW and Mercedes drivers with a rather aloof look on my face! This car is close to perfect. It's smooth, quiet and fast enough for anybody with half a brain.

We've also got our fifth Mazda MX5, which is also a little dream to drive, it's the RF 2.0 litre and the best they've ever built. But Mercedes, don't mention them! We had an SLK 200 for two years and it rattled like a bitch, drank fuel and failed three MOT tests with broken suspension and seized brake calipers, never again!
