The way I read it, it is the magnetic field which rotates by electronic switching off three phase current, much the same as the trains I drive. AC three phase motors/generators work differently to DC in that they need thyristor control to switch current on/off during the wave form which, due to the oval stator, is simulated. If you read it, nowhere does is state that the rotor is moving. Torque can be measured without movement, simply apply a socket or spanner to a very tight bolt and try to undo it, even when it won't move, you're still applying torque, just not enough.

I think I saw the same car in Crewe yesterday at Tesco.

Has anybody ever removed the steering column cowl to access the adjustment mechanism? I have an occasional squeak when I switch off the ignition and the wheel rises, so I want to know if there's anything in there to lubricate.

Sorry to hear that.
This little pouch is the most cost effective solution. When the key is in the pouch you can stand right next to car and it won't unlock. (keyless entry) https://www.amazon.co.uk/Blocker-Faraday-Keyless-Blocking-Protection-2-x-Signal/dp/B076KZF645/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=key+pouch+anti+theft&qid=1615283697&sr=8-3
I've got one of those, it stopped working after about five months as the material wore.

They do have a really good dual carriageway in Bulgaria from Sofia as far as Bansko in the South, I drove all 168 km of it in December 2019. I was so pleased to see my EU taxes being put to such good use. Not now, you'll have nowhere to use 240 bhp any time soon.

Is there a link for the advert?

Take a piece of copper wire, the earth off 1.5 mm twin and earth and bend it double, then slide it into the hole so the tails are sitting on the rim of the plastic insert. Then try the screws again. Or screw the thread onto a ball point pen spring and screw the lot back in. The spring will form a helicoil.

How do I close this post.
You don't, people simply take a look and then take the Mick until they do something stupid themselves! 😂

Glad you like the car, I got 54 mpg on a similar run earlier this week, wait until summer when you don't need the heater on, it gets even better. As for the USB sticks, I'm not sure, maybe it's the formatting, have you read the 900 page infotainment manual?
The windows can be key operated, but unfortunately a Lexus geezer has to plug his laptop in to activate the feature. I was going to get mine done but with the air con blowing through the seats I forgot all about it.

Surely the detergent will do the job even if it doesn't go all snowy? I still use Screwfix wash and wax!

for me i do it the same as paul except i use the the recirculation for the following reasons:-
higher fan speed = more airflow to clear windscreen
A/c & Recirc on = dried air inside car is being blown on the windscreen
instead of using outside air that will be damp and
contain more moisture not ideal for de misting
once demisted turn off the recirc
Gulshan you need to try the methods mentioned and see which one you feel works.
each to their own.
I hadn't thought of that Mark. I'll try recirculation next time. I recall a car we had in India for a personal tour where the driver kept the air con on recirculation and it was freezing cold and bone dry, so much so that it hurt our eyes and nasal passages!

Gang hi, your car is 7 years old ??
I would certainly get someone to look over the brakes, calipers etc for seizing etc ........... just in case
maybe not an oil change or air filter tho' they should last 10k min whatever

I check my callipers to settle my own mind. Lexus had it for a service in September as I wanted the hybrid warranty. Oil and oil filter will be fine for up to three years or 12,000 miles as long as you keep an eye on the levels. Lexus told me that the air filter schedule is 40,000 miles on the hybrid cars. I own mine outright though, so I'll spend a bit on servicing, if you're on a "Fleecing" deal, just spend on whatever they penalise you for.

The air con should switch on at the same time as the windscreen defrost button is pressed. Also, make sure you haven't got the recirculation switched on, you need outside air coming in.

I've had my F Sport IS for a year now and I'm still impressed every time I so much as look at it. It's super smooth, powerful enough for any road these days and the economy is better than my previous Honda Civic 1.8. I've given lifts to Mercedes and BMW owners and they've all got out with a sheepish look on their faces.
I'll never regret buying mine and I hope it runs forever, which it probably will.

You need to push the accelerator a bit harder than you might when driving normally. I also originally thought it wouldn't rev. But I found that if you give the accelerator a firm push, it will, on my car, at least.
Mine will only go to just over 2000 rpm, but on reflection I don't need to rev it anyway.
-
How do you get the engine to rev when stationary? Mine won't do it, I think I've tried it on all positions on the gear selector.

I live near to Bargain Booze head quarters. I keep making people drop their bottles, then I have to take a detour due to the amount of glass on the road.

IS300h Catalytic converter theft?
in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Posted
The catalytic converter on the IS is mounted diagonally between the engine and the bulkhead, therefore it isn't accessible by simply jacking the car up and lying underneath for a minute or two.
"May the return valves of a thousand jacks fail and smite the scrotes. "
