  1. Mmmmmm. Unfortunately, you are asking a question that's impossible for us to answer (with any authority), for it all depends upon the particular staff, in your chosen Halfords. In my local branches - I wouldn't trust them to tell me the correct time, let alone do any work on my car. (You may be luckier in Port Talbot of course). Personally, I'd suggest that you replace the battery yourself, (it really isn't too demanding, however, if you'd rather a garage fit one, speak to a good local independent garage, and tell them exactly what battery you want fitting.
  2. I suspect there comes a point where for the 'main branded' insurance houses have an age cut-off point purely on the basis of an increased difficulty in obtaining components. It looks as if you'll be spending more time with one of the specialist 'classic car' insurers (and some of them are very good!)
  3. Indeed, assuming the thief is packing cable cutters, it's a two second job.
  4. I can recommend Lexus in Sheffield
  5. I think this it the type of lock that David's referring too. I
  6. That % of increase is "about" 'par for the course', particularly with the 'more reputable' insurers. And LV will probably have sent you an explanatory note with your proposal, covering all the key elements affecting the higher costs.
  7. That's a fair amount of work that the dealer accepted that you should undertake for an £150 reduction in price....... Particularly when the dealership will have been completely aware of the damage prior to selling it...... (I bet I'm not the only member that has arrived at that conclusion) But, as there is more than one dealership in Yorkshire, in your experience, which one may I be prudent to be cautious of (with no reference to this particular problem of course).
  8. Try the NFU - - - - (although I know that they don't cover all geographic locations) It worked for me
  9. Hi Roland, If the Mercedes Auto-hold is what I believe it is - - my car (Series III like yours) has what Lexus refer to as a 'Hill-start' system... and works the same way as the Mercedes Check in your Owners Manual; (circa page 344)
  10. Ooops! My mistake - - Apologies Paula (I'm such a numpty!)
  11. Vishi, I today received a quote from NFU, (I found the Customer Services lad extremely pleasant). They were within £5 the same price as renewal with my current Insurer (Liverpool Victoria), and only 15% dearer than the very cheapest quotation I'd received of the 48 quotes through Compare the Market.
  12. Hi Andy, I recently had my car's wheels powder-coated at The Wheel Specialist, (15% discount for being a Lexus Owners Club 'gold' member) They were extremely efficient, (in at 16:00 hrs day 1, collected at 15:00hrs next day). My wheels had never been kerbed, or damaged, but at 9yrs of age, the inboard paint was peeling off) The Wheel Specialist made a great job of the coating, a beautifully smooth finish, refitted tyres on the original locations, & rebalanced the wheels. Cost, after discount, about £380. I'm very pleased with the result
  13. Vishi, As there are SO MANY variables with insurance.... and, to be fair, no other LOC member will have exactly the same details as you, - why not just ring up NFU ? They are likely to be at the expensive end of the premiums though......
  14. I am about to seek quotations, and will certainly call the NFU for a price. Am currently with LV, but Which? rates both LV and NFU Mutual as the best in a comprehensive survey earlier this year.
  15. Paula, I don't know Chatham at all, or any mechanics. Are you aware that there IS a Lexus dealership in Chatham, or are you specifically looking for an independent?
  16. Try LexusPartsDirect https://lexuspartsdirect.co.uk/product-category/steering-suspension/?make=316&model=337
  17. Vladimir - You're right inasmuch as the LRA (AA) cover is 'breakdown' - not 'collision', cover. Any collision cover would be under your vehicle insurance policy.
  18. Ah! What a b*gger! And how irritating is that! There is a moral to this story, of course..... When one washes one's dirty laundry in the public eye..... Everybody knows when it's all clean ! 😉 (Glad it's all sorted though)
  19. You can always check by plugging your phone into that socket to charge it, and then turn the ignition off....
  20. Our car still has the original sat nav, sans updates, and I shall not be updating it. I simply research my journey beforehand (on the pc), and will use notes, google-maps or Waze to help n=me if necessary.
  21. If the voice commands in my car are silent, I realise I've left my partner at home (😉)
  22. Aaarghhh! Condolences, Peter. What a b*mmer! So inconvenient, of course. but it is only metal & plastic (Lexus - ONLY!!!???) and console yourself that you are neither the driver nor any of the others in hospital. But at least you've a CAD and the Zipcar insurance/Woodford are up to speed.
  23. Mr Vlad At least you realise the cause of your prang - - there's a lesson for all of us there... I'm pleased that you are relatively unscathed, but sorry to learn that you totalled your car.
  24. (Shhh - - - Don't tell Herbie! 😉 )
