  1. On my two visits to Lexus Leeds (although I eventually bought elsewhere) I found Chris Pattison Chris.Pattison@vantagemotorgroup.co.uk really helpful and 'Lexus patient' (I think 'Lexus patient' should be an adjective!)
  2. Indeed, although no matter how positive I feel, I'm aware that my past is increasing in length at the same rate as my future is shortening! 😬
  3. I bought my Lexus 12 months ago, When I bought my Lexus 12 months ago, the previous owner had not supplied the service record, and Lexus Sheffield looked up the records and provided a (new) copy of the service book
  4. Caroline South at the time - I was the perfect age to appreciate what Caroline was putting out then. (just don't ask me what I think of current 'pop' music!) Spent 20 minutes yesterday reading up on the history of Caroline (thank you Wiki!) - fascinating - didn't realise it was going for so long and in so many guises
  5. Ah! Radio Caroline - the MV Mi Amigo - - - (aged flash-back!)
  6. Many on this forum have switched to Michelin Cross Climates - and rate them quite hightly. Dunlops would appear to be out of favour, noisier and less comfortable
  7. Just make sure you keep up to date with your HMRC returns - - they are even less forgiving than The Interceptors!
  8. It's that blasted radio ham in Tokyo that's fouling it all up I tell you
  9. No matter how sure we are that our trusty steed will pass it's MOT, it's still a relief when it does. Glad to hear that you are now without interferance - - although as man becomes more immersed in technology, this will happen more frequently in future - - I'm just waiting for the day when some 'erbert near me, instructing his drone to simulate a barrel-loop, co-instructs my pacemaker to speed up!
  10. Without your explanation Herbs, had I seen QRN QRM anywhere I would have assumed that they refer to another couple of Genders invented by the 'right-on PC brigades' (Apologies - wandering off-topic!)
  11. The worst news of all, of course, is that the source of the interference is the WiFi controlled still you have in the attic that's quietly producing gin - - sorry - I meant hand sanitiser
  12. There is an interesting Paper available detailing various solutions to mechanical attack. I belive that several layers of Kevlar fabric, laid crosswise behind on sandwiched within a metal casing will be most effective agains a saw or grinding attack, ai it effectively clogs and ties up the discs and blades. https://www.cpni.gov.uk/system/files/documents/8a/67/Project_FARM_Guidance_Doc_Materials_Spreadsheet_Manufacturers_V1.0.20160523.pdf
  13. Mark - that's superb - - at what point should I 'put my left foot in - out - in - out - and shake it all about'?
  14. And I've just received the same email via Lexus Sheffield. (Maybe this is just to reinforce the value of Lexus hybrids alongside all the TV advertising currently being aired) (It's also possible that South Yorkshire was out of the loop regarding Mafeking updates?)
  15. Herbs! Of course! (Doh! - I hadn't considered that) - but will now purchase an OBDII plug and fly leads! Many thanks - - (this has been a salutory lesson in "Think before I type") Cheers!
  16. As an update to the above: - This morning I found that Noco (Genius) sell a bespoke cable to link the GB70 booster/jump starter directly to the OBD-II socket, thus powering all the 12v service settings (doors, alarms, seats etc etc) and allows one (me!) to change the 12v battery in comfort, and without running the risk of losing any of the settings. At £20 (!) it may be an expensive luxury, but it will provide me with piece of mind when removing the battery, and will come in useful when doubtless lending to friends!
  17. During this current health scare I, (Like a few others) discovered that the 12v battery on our car was 'tired' and let us down a couple of times on our most infrequent journeys. I used our Genius battery pack , and have found that using the 'emergency post' inside the under-bonnet fuse-box an absolute doddle, and it only neccessitates removing just the one (engine bay)panel above the fusebox . And it takes so little drain from the Genius pack, I've not needed to recharge it at all
  18. We bought our RX 10 months ago, already fitted with Dunlops. Having been in an RX with Michelin Cross Climates - - I will not be fitting Dunlops again
  19. Super result! And, to be fair, at £65 from Toyota/Lexus that's darned good value, Normally its that price for the turned Bakelite insert that fits inside the second level of the Mickey Mouse rubber flapper valve actuator for the self-dimming cup holders
  20. From doing homework (on this forum!) and noting all the work that Barry* (posted 8 hours ago) , if the battery fitted by the dealer isn't a Panasonic AGM D23 VRLA, then you should hammer back to them and remind them that this is the only battery that should have been fitted. If it IS a Panasonic AGM D23 VRLA they've fitted, then either it has a fault, or is an old (and not fit for purpose) UNLESS..... You've not used you car for 10 days or more between journeys - - in which case a battery that's not brand new, or only moderately charged, are known to lose their charge
  21. "Does anybody know whether the sensitivity can be reduced to avoid unwanted premature activation, " Just pop into your local chemist - I am told that Durex make a cream or spray that works well . . . . Oh - - sorry 😬 'Premature activation' - - - - oh
  22. And we ALL know what pheasant pluckers get up to, don't we?
  23. Barry, Sincere thanks for your efforts on this subject, I understand how frustrating it can be, but appreciate your perseverance
  24. They look rather smart Brian. (I won't show your pictures to my wife, for I have encouraged her to believe that any scuffs on the wheels will necessitate brand new wheels, (for reasons of metal stress! 😉 ) and that they'd have to be paid for out of 'housekeeping.) 'Mum's the word' eh?
