Descending hills
Illogan replied to m4rkw's topic in RX 300 / RX 350h / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h+ / RX 500h Club
One of my earlier cars was a 1929 Austin 16, (2.5L, straight six, 3 gears, no synchromesh on any, and external shoe handbrake on the prop shaft) One becomes quite adept at changing gear with sufficient practice (!) And every successful gear change felt SO good!!! -
12volt Battery ordered

I just attached my (already purchased) NoCo Jump starter (https://www.amazon.co.uk/NOCO-GB40-UltraSafe-Lithium-Starter/dp/B015TKUPIC/ref=asc_df_B015TKUPIC/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=309775958298&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=15567152916548422783&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1006886&hvtargid=pla-449394730282&psc=1&th=1&psc=1) to the battery - connections - thus acting as a power source and protecting all the settings. Or - as Herbie wrote - borrow a battery and just connect it to you car's leads before you disconnect your battery! -
Cleaning tips?
Illogan replied to JBPRX400h's topic in RX 300 / RX 350h / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h+ / RX 500h Club
You'll know/ascertain when the seeds start to fall (in quantity) - so at about the beginning of that period, give the rear side channels a good clean, and then line with a snug fit of cling film. When all seeds/leaves have fallen - - then carefully remove the cling film! My suggestion is most definitely a simple man's approach - but should work! 🙂 -

Update: You post made me investigate on my car - - and then I realise that my previous post was complete rubbish! Apologies When you reach the point on your nav/mmi system, and navigate to vehicle settings - there are indeed a number of onscreen buttons - - (the vehicle customisation' button is greyed out. Until you power up the car - - then, as if by magic (!) - the button springs into life - and you can customise all the options available

You may yet discover that the garage has a 'lost property box' in the workshop that contains miscellaneous components that appear without reason - - (or explanation) -
New E10 Fuel

It would appear that the world's population may not have sufficient time remaining to facilitate more accessible space travel - (or any travel!) -
My 2014 RX450h is the first I've owned, and I'm not familiar with your terminology 'vehicle customisation'....(though maybe I should be!) Following up on Dan's post above, are you perchance referring to the toggle buttons on the r/hand side of the steering wheel, which together with the menu button, enable you to choose Eco, std (and in my car Sport) modes etc?

Rear Sub Frame
Illogan replied to Vivienne's topic in RX 300 / RX 350h / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h+ / RX 500h Club
This may be a bit of a 'belt and braces' approach...... (And I've not needed to do it to a vehicle.....) But how about sourcing a second-hand subframe - and then taking that one to a welderfor reinforcement. There's then plenty of time to check/renew bushes, protective paint treatments (etc) before replacing yours. It may be a slightly dearer option than just having your existing one repaired - but you'll have plenty of time to make a sound job of it. -
Whilst I am fortunate not to enjoy/endure your particular problem, I have suffered 'trim squeeks' on various vehicles in the past (but never on a BMW - because their trim never meets sufficiently close to touch!) I have resolved with a small (tiny) puffer bottle of fine PTFE powder (available on both of the largest on-line retail companies). Being dry, it doesn't attract muck n grime, and is such a good lubricant, it may well last for a considerable time

I just hope that with the weather continuing to become more unreliable, maybe Lexus are already working on a completely buoyant model? -
Cat
Illogan replied to b4u2's topic in RX 300 / RX 350h / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h+ / RX 500h Club
Have a browse around the forum b4u2 - - there are several threads that discuss cat thefts. Whilst we are all aware of cat thefts, - and owners of most car brands are aware, it's just that higher ground clearance vehicles are easier to target of course. I've had a Catloc fitted to our car, which will be a deterrent to some thieving 'erberts, but, if someone is determined to thieve/break-in,whatever - they will (whether it be a catalytic converter, Hatton Garden Jewellers or The Great Train Robbery.) Be careful, be cautious, - be philosophical -
I sympathise - - - the world is (increasingly full / littered) of recommendations / influencers (Pah!!)/ and information sources regaling its readers with advice. I applaud you for tackling the job, and hold a (virtual) arm around your shoulder in comforting you in your hour(s) of misdirection. The good news is that you've illustrated and emphasised the reason why advice should be sought from, and carefully read, from genuinely authoritative and reliable forums such as this. Kiko - - many thanks for publishing your post.

. I've always believed that very few people have true friends, and those that have two or three are rare and gifted. . It is clear that through his generosity of wisdom and spirit, John had many friends - a rarer gift indeed

Noisy Cup Holder!!!

A few years ago (well - probably 20), I bought a small puffer bottle of powdered PTFE. It's finer than talcum powder, and a brilliant lubricant. (use on zips, plastic joints, and anywhere where an oily residue would be unsightly, or catch muck and dust). Would most likely be very effective on creaky joints (shame I cannot inject it into my knees!)
