  1. Winston - - she looks a cracker If (just if) you tire of her in the next few days and wish to swap her for a 2014 RX450, (no cash adjustment!) please don't hesitate to contact me!!!!
  2. I understand that you're frustrated that there doesn't appear to be a programmable solution for your query, Wally. I assume that in time you'll manage to cope with the inconvenience, and that this aberration of Lexus doesn't cause you or your passengers any danger.
  3. Um, - - Wally. Although our car only has standard cruise control, when I've found myself in a similar situation of wanting to gently overtake a slightly slower vehicle, I leave the cruise control at whatever setting I've set it at previously, and simply gently accelerate to pass it, and then remove my foot from the accelerator pedal and allow the car to return to the preset speed.
  4. Monica - Herbie's recommendation of battery supplier is bang on the money. Our RX's battery failed last year (2014 !!) and we replaced it from Lexus Parts Direct. Fast delivery and cheaper than your dealer doing it for you! I made a point of maintaining an auxiliary 12v battery connection to the car whilst changing the battery, and thus didn't lose any of the settings on the car or alarm systems. (Easy to do - and can save a deal of faffing about!)
  5. You know when one parks over those 'rising bollards'?
  6. Don't let Herbie see that you've written that - - - he's been telling everyone to read their handbooks for years! 🙂
  7. I have always found that keeping my wife as a named driver on my policy has ALWAYS resulted in a cheaper premium, (and, for the same reason, I was always a named driver on my wife's car) Seriously - worth doing.

  9. Delighted that you've had the armchair returned Barry, - thank you for your detailed précis of all that you've been through so far, it always helps the rest of us to understand some of the obtuse processes of the insurance industry. Fingers crossed for an healthy resolution to the issue.
  10. Oh - - I would love to hunt around for a Gen 4 bargain in a year-or-so's time, but as am now 'pension-bound' that will need remain a pipe dream Still - our 2014 should still be going strong 🤞, and it meets all our needs and aspirations. (I think) But it'll be good to see a few Gen 5's on the roads
  11. "I see where you're going there!"
  12. Ahah! The recent problem may well have been caused by a loose or (possibly) corroded connection. Like so many things electrical - fingers crossed!
  13. Dan, Before you launch into a new policy - - spend an hour or so reading this article and some of its options: https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/insurance/car-insurance/
