  1. JP You may think of upgrading to a relatively newer LS600h with all the new age electronics and a much more sophisticated rear relaxation pack. Of course, LS450hL would still be a better choice but expensive too.
  2. Thanks everyone. I’m taking my Lexus for MoT (got a deal for £40 from the main dealer). I’m planning to get the discs replaced post MoT or should it be the other way?
  3. Thanks Richard, Andrew, Barry and John. I did find OEM a new pair of front discs & pads for £132 from lexuspartsdirect. Not sure if these are the best or should I look out for the ones from Blue Print / Brembo? Any suggestion is much appreciated.
  4. Hello there Last time, when I took my RX400H for an intermediate service, I was told to replace O/S front disc after a couple of thousand more miles, as it was heavily scored. How serious is this issue? Lexus Reading gave a quote of £325 (parts supplied & fitted + VAT) for replacing front discs (near side + offside) & brake pads. I still feel it's expensive. Can anyone suggest any known Lexus specialists within 20-30 mile radius? Best regards Shiva
  5. Thanks Ray and Peter. Ray How do I find out? are there any symptoms that you would make you think that those rear caliper side pins have been seized? Let me check other entries on this problem as well.
  6. Thanks Herbie. You’ve opened my eyes. It’s silly me. I’ll start using in the ways you’ve suggested.
  7. Hello there I've a 58-plate RX400H and I'm not quite happy with the braking when I compare it with normal cars that have hydraulic brakes. Also, when I did a test drive of a 62-plate RX450H, its brakes were a lot more efficient than the ones on my car though both use regenerative braking. I checked with local Lexus dealer and they suggested that the brakes, pads and discs all look fine on my RX. Is there anything that can be done to improve the braking efficiency and also reduce the braking distance? I sometimes feel that I need to apply heavily on my brakes to bring it to a stop (I drive between 70 & 80 mph on motorways). Am I missing anything here? Best Shiva
  8. Thanks everyone for your advice. Mo - please share or mail me your car’s details
  9. Yes it’s the green one in Blackburn, Lancashire.
  10. Hello there I’m planning to buy a 1997 LS400 from a specialist used car dealer but the advisories on its last MoT history (7 months old) have made me sceptical. The dealer claims that he can get all its advisories removed when he applies for a new MoT upon confirmation of a sale. Please look at the MoT screenshot attached with this message and advise if the dealer’s claims can be trusted and are they really feasible? Or are these advisories common for a car of this age and should they be overlooked? This car has got 2 owners from new with 66,000 miles clocked so far and overall looks wise it looks awesome. best regards Shiva
  11. Thanks Lager. I was contemplating whether to cancel it or keep it running. I'll go ahead and cancel it.
  12. Hello there I recently bought a 58-plate Lexus RX400h from a main dealer and I was sold Tyres & Alloy Insurance for £500 that's valid for 3 years. The insurance is provided by Premia Solutions (Warwickshire) and have any of you have had any experience having this Insurance and is it really worth having this? The knot is that this insurance policy does not replace with new tyres if it's a general wear & tear but only if's got punctured. -Shiva
