  1. Had a bit of a though from years ago remember the old belt driven daf cars the early cvt transmission . That could go the same speed forward or reverse if you were brave enough .Has any one tried this with the cvt Rx.
  2. I left my sunroof open last week and that brought up a message saying it was open .
  3. With the RX it comes with the angel and devil sat on each shoulder .whispering in your go on you know you want to .then there's the angel now keep that needle in the green zone you silly boy think off the mpg 😇😈.ive been getting 30-38 mpg depending on who I'm listening to .
  4. I hope you all the best with this issue and hope lexus don't fob you off .
  5. 39.95 by god dear fellow that's nearly a arm full .only people of a certain age will know that saying lol. Lucky enough mines had the big service two months before I bought it woohoo lol . do they not do cheaper servicing for cars over 5 years old my avensis was about 120 for the interim service and I can tell you now nothing more gets done on your rx .
  6. How many water pumps have been replaced within 3 years 60k age is immaterial really as the extended warranty did not cover the guy starting this thread with only 45 k on his engine . They just love wear and tear the water pump is designed to last a set time it has a correctly tensioned belt no over tension issue and long life coolant it not leaking past a faulty seal so the bearing is failing prematurely. I used to work on toyota 25 years ago and this type of crap would never happen with lexus .
  7. Cracks to leather seats is no issue you can have them sorted cheaply by any good upholsterer.
  8. Jingyu tyres £70 quid a tyre 235/55-19 - I'd love to do a blind test were you drive a rx not know what on it in the wet and dry .in real world conditions and not by a magazine idiot on a track . The reason I say this is I thought I had dunlops alround on mine and the road hold is great pushing into corners hard braking etc .then I looked at the fronts and they had windforce or something Chinese .
  9. Well this subject has been interesting being as it's not covered under lexus warranty or the extended warranty if I'm told by lexus your water pump needs changing ,I shall do the job myself being an engineer the only pain is not having access to a ramp so axle stands and jacks it will have to be . I will give you the true labour hrs involved .
  10. Mind you herbie a easy to reach compact electric water pump could be situated in a easy reach position similar to a few BMW I've seen online. Water pumps too be honest should last to at least 150k modern bearings and seals with there long life coolant . Just a after thought never put screen wash fluid in your cooling system as you won't have a thermostat left or water pump internals lol
  11. I know a lot of newer cars have water pumps .
  12. This herbie I've looked online and can't find an electric water pump for the engine only the inverter assembly ? And all other listing are for a belt driven type.
  13. I can imagine your road trip was great fun ,I did mention doing a similar thing to the wife ,I got the steely stare and that was the end of that pipe dream .although to be fair she had to sit in the back of a old RAV4 Crushed up for hours on a road trip through France in her late teens ,its almost on par with me saying let's go camping lol.
  14. Well this doesn't look too bad can't be that much different from the 450h ,once you've done a few there will be lots of short cuts .so to summarise 11 hrs my arse.🤐
  15. There's one bit of advice I can give regarding kids if you have black leather and the child has been dipped in suntan lotion by the mother it will stain your leather FOREVER .
  16. Hmm I may fit a tow bar and get a caravan to I can go cruising on hot sunny weekend on winding country roads to join the middle age men in Lycra hogging the roads 😈
  17. great write up of your journey ,the rx is such a good driving position relaxing you can see everything over hedges etc driving through small villages it's so easy to drive slow or at speed limits lots of power when needed . I think the guys in there low cars are quite funny as they peel themselves out after they pull up having to stretch etc they say the rx doesn't handle its big and heavy lol young pups I remember my first beer lol.
  18. i thought I would have a look on the Lexus online service history checker ,and when I put in my vin it's coming up with invalid vin .ive doubled checked the car and logbook etc even old invoices .but no luck has anyone else had this issue .ive been online to a vin decoder site and it comes up ok .
  19. There is a tyre pressure range for your car look at the side wall this will give you the max pressure when cold say 50 psi then down to the minimum pressure recommended by lexus speed related and say load .so if your door sticker says 33 psi up to 80 mph that is your lowest pressure recommended by lexus for comfort and up to 50psi which is the safe working limit set by the tyre manufacturer but will be pretty a pretty harsh ride .so 50psi - 10% is really a starting point then drop down to a setting you are happy with . I have mine st at 38psi all round which I find is firm enough . So 33-50 psi cold most people will look at the door sticker and choose a pressure on how fast they drive . I tend to drive a-b roads and like a firmer tyre .
  20. Electronic handbrakes the toyota boys hate them with a vengeance 1200+ to replace almost as bad as DMV (dual mass flywheels )and weak clutches 1000+ to fit , diesel injectors 1200 quid +fitting ,oh the terrible air suspension on the the Rx you have to remember you pay out so little only high servicing cost over 10 years .
  21. I usually just get new ones once a month and when the car gets dirty.I just drop it off at the body shop for a respray on the way to the golf course .cant be done with all that peasant cleaning stuff 🤡
  22. Too be honest if you only need the compressor any car make will do it's only a few wires etc and maybe modify the frame mount ,it only pumps air after all .
  23. Looks like a used item on evil bay is about £300 .or you could just buy used coil struts and do away with the air suspension.depending on your budget.
