    This has probably come up before! I was looking to do a bit of detailing, tiny little stone chips on the bonnet which seemed to have been covered by the dealers with little blobs of paint! Has anybody had any problems with a polisher (I have a DAB6) on Lexus self healing paint. Does any body know the best compounds/polishes for this kind of paint or should I just not use a polisher? Is it all right to use a clay bar?

    A quote from Lexus re the two types of HUD “ Technical advise that the type B HUD might be fitted to a vehicle for another market which does not have a multi-media screen or has a multi media screen where the units cannot be changed”. Mine must be type A where the mph/klm can only be changed through settings, seems to be a bit of a step back considering this was registered 2017!

    Looking to get some easy clean mats as I live out in the country and it gets muddy. Been looking at “Diamond Mats” which look well made but expensive compared to ordinary rubber mats. ,Has anybody used them in their car?

    My HUD works but only If I go into settings and units rather than toggle the hud button, strangely enough when I asked the sales rep in Leeds,(where I bought the car from) about changing the hud he demonstrated it by going into settings rather than toggling the switch. Still would like to know if this was changed on 2016 models together with the other updates. The sales reps ( mentioned in previous post) from Lexus Twickenham did not seem to think there was anything wrong with it.

    Interesting, there was an update in 2016 maybe it was changed then? The fact that both the sales reps that tried to change it started with the procedure you described ( and described in my hand book) it was after that had failed they tried the other method. Does anyone have a 2016+ model out there that could verify this or have I bought a Lexus one off weirdo!!

    Tried turning the hud off and on but it did not toggle between kpm to mph managed to find the instruction in the manual and that gave exactly the same instruction. Took it to a Lexus dealer, one guy tried exactly the same as I had and could not get it to change then another sales rep came out and went into settings then units and managed to change it from there. Interestingly enough it not only changed the heads up but converted the odometer into KLM’s!

    Picking up the above next week it is a 2016 model. I am taking it to France and was wondering if you could change the heads up speed display to kilometres

    Many thanks for your comments I will defo knock it on the head and stick with a good shampoo and polish. ( they were offering interior and exterior for £299). As it has ivory upholstery I thought it would be good to keep the interior from getting stained.

    Just put a deposit down on a GS 300h premier 2017 from a Lexus dealer and they have offered me a GardX protection treatment on the interior and paintwork for half price. Anybody had any experience of this treatment and if so do they think it is worth it?

    Thank-you for your comments. I have been back and tested them both again (twice!)and although my brain is saying the drop down back seats are more practical and I do not need all the extras at the back as there are only two of us but every time I get in and drive the GS it just brings a smile to my face. I am now on the hunt for a Premier model 2016/17. Thanks again.

    Was having a test drive in a Lexus GS 300h the other day, we were driving along at about 60/70 mph at around 2000revs (sport mode) when the sales rep switched the drive mode (although I am not too sure which mode) then told me to depress the throttle twice the engine revs dropped and he switched it back into sport mode and the revs were showing 1000 but we were still going the same speed. Has any one come across this and if so what mode do you have to be in to achieve this.

    You would have thought it would be as simple as that until you search the French websites !! My French is not brilliant but I have found over here “ why make it simple when we can make it complicated” lol

    Just a long shot, I want to import a 300h GS Premium to France. My French insurance company only have three specs Executive,Luxury and Business. I have searched the net and asked Lexus HQ ( who did not know). Does anybody out there know which European spec is the equivalent to a Premium spec?

    I know this is an old topic but I have just driven both on a test drive and have been slightly more swayed by the GS just for the gear that’s on it ( I tested two premier models ). I have been searching the net for for any back to back reviews on these two models but cannot find any. Does anybody know if one has been done comparing these two models?
