  1. Thanks for all the advice. I was not thinking of getting the panels resprayed as I agree they never seem to match. I was looking for a good local"scratch to shine" outfit. Will give Lexus Twickenham a call
  2. Having just come back from Italy where an encounter with an erratic Italian driver put a few scratches on the body work. A couple I can take out with an orbital polisher but the rest look a little too deep. Can anybody recommend a good paint shop in the Surrey area preferably near Thames Ditton/Surbiton?
  3. I am assuming nothing gets “de-programmed “ when you disconnect/ re connect the battery and I can drive away without having to reset anything?
  4. Would any of the above “alternative” batteries last longer than the 3 to 4 weeks without running the car or charging? I would like to leave my car at an airport car park for longer and even though I have a jump kit I understand letting the battery run flat will shorten it life
  5. There are quite a few threads about which give details of what battery to buy and how to fit them without going to the dealers or messing with any electrics. Latest one is in the GS300h forum headed Mysterious Battery
  6. Have a similar problem although the smell I am getting is more of a rotton smell than chemical. Have noticed that it tends to wear off after a few miles and the smell is l getting less each time I take the car out. As I live in the country I can only assume it might be some small rodent that has got in somewhere and died in one of the heating ducts!
  7. Thanks Peter. Very useful, I did not realise it was related to speed to such an extent. At the time in question I was going fairly slow hence the lower beam. Thanks again.
  8. Thanks Peter, yes I do have adaptive auto lights and that could be the reason, will check it out next time
  9. Was driving the other night when I noticed that the lights never went onto full beam. They dipped with on coming traffic but never went all the way up when the road was clear. When I switched to manual full beam they lit up for more road than when on auto. Has anybody experienced this?
  10. Lexus Parts Direct were doing a pretty good deal on windscreen wipers last time I looked
  11. Once again many thanks John. I remember half way though the journey my wife had spent a lot of time trying to get a USB plug to fit and must have accidentally pressed it ( you have to blame someone!!) all systems working Thanks again
  12. Just come back from a 200K trip, drove into my garage and nudged the end wall ( no damage fortunately) what had happened was the sensors were not working, funnily enough I now remember going through the last couple of toll booths and the side sensors were not bleeping. Have I accidentally turned them off, I cannot see any button with a "P" on it. I have gone round and given them a wipe to no avail. Is there a test I can do?
  13. Do have more details of the battery fitted to your car Eldrid ? Sounds like an ideal alternative to the Lexus one especially if it fits without any modification and lasts longer. It is all very well having jump start packs and trickle chargers but leaving the car at the airport for more than two weeks will actually weaken the battery if it gets too flat.
  14. Interesting. They had changed the aircon setting on mine after the recall, it was on the maximum.
  15. Took the car in for a service last month and they told me there was a slight leak on the water pump and they would replace it under the “Relax” scheme. I was surprised as the car has only done 50k miles. Is there a problem with the water pumps on these models or is it just mine? Had the pump replaced this week I was told that I would have to pay for a new belt and coolant which I was quite happy to do although when I collected the car they said the belt and coolant “was on the house”! I was quite surprised by their generosity but then again it was 6pm on a Friday evening and the guy had not done the paper work and being French there was no way he was going delay the start of “Le Weekend”.!

  16. In France you can be stopped and fined for not having lights on when wet
  17. Thanks yet again John! It is going in for its recall on Monday so I will get them to retrieve it.
  18. Thanks for your replies Robert and Qamar. Mine has defiantly had a new bumper and I am also under the impression this Lexus Toyota franchise in France has its own body shop. The day I picked the car up it was supposed to be ready by 2pm and they did not bring it round to reception until 6pm so I can assume the last minute assembly was a little rushed!!
  19. This might be a silly question but for the first time since I have owned this car I had three people in the back ( yes, I don’t get out much). Although the seat belt was there, I could not find the anchor for it. There are only two anchors visible and even though I felt around between the seat and back I could not find another anchor for the middle belt. Am I missing something obvious??
  20. Interesting. I have it booked in on Thursday considering my insurance paid over €5000 for the repair I would have expected the job to be perfect. I will probably get a shrug of the shoulders and a lot of Gallic excuses!
  21. Had a rear end shunt a few months back. The car has now been repaired by a Lexus dealer but I have noticed this gap between the casing of the boot and the rear bumper. Is this normal? It seems pretty secure and the boot shuts and opens OK but I cannot compare it with any other GS300s as they are few and far between in rural France!
