  1. Hi Phil, I had a much worse tear on the armrest in my IS300h - was easy to repair once I managed to remove the armrest and work on my workbench (kitchen table!) I purchased a piece of PVC from a haberdashers shop (£8/metre - it was 1.2m wide so I ended up buying 0.25m for £2) The whole job took about 30 mins including 1 cup of tea (Yorkshire tea of course) and the final result is not bad and much less annoying on my elbow when driving Good Luck!
  2. The squealing brakes issue has finally been resolved 😀 So over the past few weeks the noise became more and more permanent and was driving me crazy. During a recent service Lexus had said that the “brakes may need a clean as brake dust can cause this issue” and they would charge £120 for this - but I would have to book the car in for another time as they did not have enough time to do the work. I decided to take the car to a mechanic friend of mine who knew what the problem was as soon as I described the issue. The rear brakes on the IS300h have brake pads to slow the car down during normal driving and brake shoes for parking. The rear pads had worn down and were sticking to the brake disc whenever they were being used and this was the constant squealing noise, the rear brake shoes were also well on their way to being completely worn out. Rear brake discs, brake pads and brake shoes were all replaced and now the car dives like new once again and I am one very happy Lexus driver. I was contacted by my local Lexus dealership and offered a great deal to have my car serviced, valeted and courtesy car supplied for £109 - I thought what’s not to like at that price? When I collected the car I quizzed the service department about Lexus Relax and was informed that I would not receive the cover due to the cost of the service being so low ??? I received a follow up call from the dealership asking if I was happy with everything when the car was serviced and I raised my concerns about not receiving the Lexus Relax cover even though the car was serviced at a Lexus dealership in June 2021 and I was informed when being offered the £109 offer that I would receive the Lexus Relax cover. I was informed that I did in fact receive the cover although they do not provide a certificate to inform the vehicle owner of this, I managed to get them to email me proof of my Lexus Relax cover which they did. I will leave the matter closed now until I need to use the Lexus Relax cover (which I doubt I will as the cars are very well built) Hope this lengthy reply has helped out at least one person who also has squeaky brakes.
  3. At least I am not alone with this issue. My 2013, 46k mile, is300h is behaving in the exact same way - also seems to be coming from the front left wheel and like Ken has said it is very annoying. I can hear the sound when I am driving along the motorway at 70mph, just have to pass another vehicle and the sound is reflected back from the vehicle I am passing. Other than this issue I cannot fault the car at all, it is my first Lexus and I would like to think I will continue to stay loyal to the Lexus brand. My car is due a service next week at Lexus, let's see what they have to say about this. Will Lexus Relax cover this issue in the future?
  4. This sounds very useful - please could you let me know how this is set? (I have a 2013 is300h) Thanks
  5. Thanks for all the replies to my query guys, much appreciated. Currently (like millions of others), I am working from home and do not get to drive the car on a daily basis - am due to go out this evening and will give the car a good test with the demisting of the screen. I shall post my findings soon... Cheers
  6. They have managed to find a prevention/cure for Covid 19, they have managed to make highly complex heart surgey a daily task, they have even managed to get Donald Trump out of the White House! Now let me ask you this ladies and gentlemen... Has anyone ever managed to decode to complex workings of the Lexus IS300h heating system??? I have a 2013 IS300h and cannot for the life of me work out how the windscreen defrost system functions - I have frost on the inside of the screen and it can take up to 15 minutes of defrosting for the car to be safe to drive. My first Lexus, absolutely love it apart from this confusing situation, oh and the pathetic Sat Nav (would love to upgrade this at some point) Hopefully someone out there can help? Thanks in advance.
  7. Hi Paul I have to put my dad's wheelchair in the boot of my IS300h on occasions and it fits pretty easily without having to fold the rear seats down. The wheelchair folds into two, the handles fold back and the foot rests are removable. Cheers
  8. Hi The 12V outlet is located deep within the centre armrest - not the best location in my opinion, but it is there. Lift the centre armrest and you will see 2 USB sockets, the 12V outlet is under these. Happy hunting.
  9. Hi Although I have not removed the badge from my is300h, I did remove the 118d badge from my BMW 1 Series (previous car and pretty poorly built). They're easy to remove: I poured boiling hot water over the badge and then used dental floss (Yep!) to slowly cut through the sponge/adhesive holding the badge in place and then used warm soapy water and some elbow grease to remove the residue of the sponge/adhesive. Not a mark left on the car and I saved £45+VAT (the BMW dealership quoted me this). Good Luck
  10. Welcome to Europe's Leading Lexus Club! Please Enjoy!
