  1. Other side done, easier when you know what you're up against. Had to replace the sensor on this one as couldn't remove the old one from the pad. Calipers have more chips than Harry ramsdens, save the repaint for another time. Thanks for the help all
  2. They were as bad as my carrier pins on the RX300, looked like they'd never seen any grease and were corroded solid. Can already see the brake backing plates starting the corrosion process 😐 I will see how I get on with these pads, obviously finding the rears will be more problematic. Most of my miles are motorway, so I'm sure they will be fine, the LS460 is a heavier beastie, so they will have enough stopping power for me. Would love to track her some day though 😈 Fortunately no youtube GSF moments today, I shoved a trolley jack under the lower suspension arm busher just to be sure!
  3. Ok one side done, the bolts were an absolute bazza to get out. Lots of surface corrosion meaning a lump hammer was needed and plenty of WD40. Clips, pads and pins all nicely lubed now, round 2 tomorrow 😂 Oh and my calipers will need a repeat at some point, too many chips to mention 😔
  4. Cheers guys. I ordered Proslip grease from amazon, supposedly approved by Toyota. Comes in 3 tubes, one for pins, one for clips and one for the pads. Not cheap, hopefully it's ok.
  5. @Comedian what grease did you use on the pins / bolts? I've got copper grease for the pads. That GSF video gave me nightmares 😱
  6. I will be installing the new pads this week. Any gotchas doing it, or is it a simple job? Cheers
  7. @Erkeen RK congratulations and welcome to the club full of naturally aspirated V8 goodness 👍
  8. It was second time lucky for me with this order, my first set of pads went missing on their way to Houston, but the refund process was impressive. Won't hesitate using them again, I'm just lucky im normally able to get to the USA frequently, so can save on shipping etc.
  9. Exactly, it's not showing much faith in their product if they're charging that amount! Side note, there is a white LC with red leather at Lexus Notts, yowzer 😛
  10. Warranty done on the monthly. Hopefully I won't have to hand the car back 😅
  11. Just about to renew the warranty, it's too good a deal in reality.
  12. Looks like my pads are out for delivery today already! Not bad for economy delivery from the states, fair play Rockauto / fedex 👍
  13. In theory, if the caliper was binding on one side, wouldn't that lead to uneven pad wear?
  14. Will do 👍 They've obviously had the calipers and pads off today, so we shall see. Thanks for the advice.
  15. Sorry they reskimmed the pads, 4mm left on them. I've personally decided my journey home will be my last and i will not use again, as using skimmed pads is far from ideal for the new discs. I knew the discs were pitted and scored and had a lip forming, hence why I had purchased new discs already. I did not think to ask if the caliper was binding, didn't cross my mind.
  16. My 05 RX300 went through the day before with flying colours 😄
  17. Basically 10k miles difference. It was one of the discs excessively fluctuating. The on ramp was fine, just a lip forming. It was following the rolling road that the problem occurred. I didn't really think to question too hard. I had the new discs, knew the old ones weren't tip top in condition, so just paid the £122 labour for disc replacement and reskimming.
  18. Nope, not at all. Weird I know.
  19. So my RCF at 35,700 miles failed its MOT on warped discs. Fortunately I had my set of discs from the US at home, which they kindly agreed to fit. The quote for pads was eye watering, so I politely declined the replacement offer and have ordered the Brembo pads listed above from the US and will fit myself. Not an ideal outcome, but better than it could have been. I won't be driving her again until the pads arrive and I've fitted them.
  20. To be fair, I'm paying to keep the car outright anyway, so hopefully it doesn't matter what they think 😄 Once I know more about my job, this upgrade will be on my radar, so your experiences and thoughts are much appreciated! It will bring the car right upto date imho
  21. Looks amazing Cezar, I will to have to wait for more certain times, but it is definitely something I am interested in doing. Not sure Lexus finance would appreciate the upgrade to their car however in my case 😛
  22. You're not kidding, I carried them back from the USA in my luggage, ouch 😂
  23. Lol its messing with everyone. I've just paid the road tax for my RCF, that definitely messes with ones head!
  24. You are of course right re non specialist job, however I may get a couple of other things looked at. Occasionally I get a knock from NSF suspension and my AC does not work. Unfortunately it's not a recharge job, it's a leak or other failure.
