E10
H3XME replied to Zuke's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
Regular E10 is £1.46/L by me.. Esso 99+ is £1.55/L. That's ~£5.50 more over 60l tank. I'll stick to Super Unleaded :) -

Why not just run E5 then? It makes ~£5 difference to a full tank and you'll get that £5 in mpgs, keep the engine healthier and you'll avoid replacing seals etc.. -
Test Driving an RC
H3XME replied to CorkVilla's topic in Lexus RC Owners Club / RC 200t / RC 300h Club
Hey man, I was in the same boat as you a couple of years ago. Really love the look of them, but after test driving it and I realised it wasn't the car for me at the time. Nothing wrong with the car at all, it's just my expectations were a little too high. It looks beautiful and sporty. I was expecting it to drive like a sports car and while the handling & seating position are brilliant, it's lacking oomph to back up the looks in my opinion. Mind you, it was my mistake expecting it from a hybrid powertrain that's in lots of other lexuses. It's built for comfortable cruising / commuting. It would make a perfect daily, but it's no tarmac ripper. If you don't care about the performance aspect of them I would say you'll be happy with it. I was only unhappy about it because it would be my only car, so I was expecting a little more fun from under your right foot. To clarify, it isn't out right slow, especially in real life conditions (commuting to work etc). The hybrid system gives you a lot of instant torque so it feels quite good until higher speeds. As what to look out for.. there isn't much really. Make sure it's got the basics like full service history by lexus (so it qualifies for the 10 year warranty but not sure if Ireland do this), both keys, see how the boot lid feels to close. I know some people had issues with the boot lid but a little bit of WD40 in the latch solved it. Also make sure to try Sport/+ modes compared to eco and feel the difference in the suspension damping. If you can't feel an obvious difference there is something wrong with the dampers. Also an issue some forum members had. Can't remember exactly what the cause was. Bottom line, it's a great reliable and efficient car for a vast majority of people, but don't be fooled by it's sporty looks like I was. -
They'll bump the prices up to retain or increase their profit. Whereas everyone else is out of pocket.. It really f#cks me off when us, regular tax payers, are worse off because a billion pound company "can't" take a bit of a hit on their PROFIT.. it's not like they will go into administration, they're not trying to stay afloat, they're trying to increase their already ridiculously big profits.. 35% increase takes the pi$$. Look at the energy companies, prices went up for one reason or another, yet they're hitting record, billions of pounds profits? wtf. was the increase really needed then? a joke.

I live on the outskirts of Wolverhampton, my mate lives in Great Barr. I pay £480/year full comp. with protected NCB, all mods declared like for like & 10,000 miles. I checked a comparison site earlier, just out of curiosity and the cheapest quote was £2100.. that's assuming my car is "stock"... ridiculous. People need to start ringing around rather than rely on online quotes, it's extortionate. I am not 100% about stickers (I doubt it because cars leave the dealership with stickers in the window) but tints being classed as mod is down to the insurance company. My I.C. (Brentacre) says tints are not classed as mod to them, but my ex from like 10 years ago had an issue with tints (not factory fitted).. A bloke came out to fit a blackbox and spotted the tints so she had to get them removed. Really depends on the insurance company, it's quite dumb that there are no set guidelines for consumers.

Absolutely f*ck all. I reported a bunch before because it pi*sed me off and nothing happened. The best you can do is "Hide" those listings or Block the profiles listing them.

100% it's fool proof if you don't send money to people. Never asked anyone for a deposit nor will i ever send someone deposit (unless it's a legitimate garage ofc)

There was a huge influx in scammers on Facebook in the past few months Vlad. Everything that looks too cheap is a scam. Funny thing is, most of the cars, regardless of age, value etc are all around 4k 🤣 You can filter through easily enough. Facebook marketplace is a very handy place for everything under £10k tbh. Higher value cars are better off on AutoTrader or even eBay classified listings, but you have to pay for those. Makes sense why you'd put a £800 sh1tter on facebook since you don't have to pay £20+ for listing it. I've sold most of my cars on Facebook but that's because they were all low value.

Depends what are I suppose. My mate with a Birmingham postcode pays £500 more than me on the same is250

Swap engine
H3XME replied to Lukasz3's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
All parts that dealers order in come from the manufacturer anyway. It doesn't exist that they "can't" get something for your imported Lexus/Toyota. Doesn't matter where it's from. And for the likes of IS350.. you won't have any issues with parts as the only main difference is the engine and front brakes that are used in other UK models anyway. Parts bin car! -

This is a myth. Insurance on imports is not automatically more than on UK cars. It's exactly the same for me. I had multiple imports over the years. There are specialist who will insure it no problem.. IS350 just popped up on fb yesterday. Fresh import, £178 road tax, fully specced SE-L with a sunroof. £8k.. -
Well, if you've been using any old supermarket E10, and your Tank Average is 40mpg, then it's pretty easy to notice that your Tank average goes up to 42-44mpg by using E5... that's 5-10% increase. MPGs aside, Super Unleaded like Momentum99/Esso99+ (same fuel) has the best cleaning properties for the engine. Just because newer cars can take E10 doesn't mean they won't benefit from E5. Mind you, if you change cars every 2-3 years, you don't have to care about this as we're talking long-term benefits.

The F sport wheels I have are up for grabs if you want 👀 -
I don't tend to keep cars for long to be honest. Doesn't mean there's something wrong. It's worth going over the service history and booking a health check if you're hesitant. Especially with these V8 convertibles.. people buy it for one season and try something different. No need to panic, just stay cautious. I bought an MX5 a few years ago, kept it for the duration of one summer and sold it. I know it's a different car, but the principle is the same.. Seasonal cars.

It's somewhat market-value average based on the age. My I.C. asks me how much I purchased the car for as opposed to pulling a random number out of their a@se, however it's a modified car policy, so we then negotiate on the agreed value with all mods at which point the original purchase price becomes obsolete. I know there is virtually nobody on this forum with a modified policy, BUT it doesn't mean you can't negotiate on the value of your car since whatever they're using is pretty much just based on the age of the car.. It's like Nissan Skyline GT-R (R34), they would only see it as a 23 year old old Nissan with a value of £500.. Ignoring the fact that the real life value is £100k+

IS250 - New beginning (bit of an ongoing "project")
H3XME replied to H3XME's topic in Modifications & Tuning
Long story short, I couldn't find a suitable replacement for the Desert Sage IS250 within my budget. The GT86 I went to see was seriously corroded underneath and the IS350 I looked at made a funny sound under load. I couldn't be without a car for any longer, so I ended up with a Subaru Forester until last weekend when I picked up YET ANOTHER IS250... 2008 Manual SE, black on black which is what I wanted. The choices are extremely limited when you start looking for something specific like that. There is only 2 on AutoTrader and both somewhat overpriced for the condition/spec. Anyway, if anyone cares to see a stock IS250, here it is. It's on 79k miles, seems to be good. Now, I've been gathering some parts over the last two months so there's only a handful of things I need for this car. I won't be documenting any processes because it's all very repetitive on this thread. Once I have everything I want, I'll install it all at the same time and post some pics. It's going to be similar to my last black one, just slightly improved in certain areas. 😎 IS350 brakes, 4IS conversion, I'll try 19" wheels for the first time etc. -
@morgan_sa hey dude, just buy one of the Android units from AliExpress.. They all seem to be running off the same platform anyway. Mine worked fine in the green car and I paid £150.. 2G32GB. I am going to buy another one for my new IS250, however this time I'll go for the 4G64GB which is 8 core just to future proof it a bit 🙂 It's ~£190 - www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005534168076.html Also the one i sent is a bit more OEM looking, I had the 10.1" one without the side buttons before and it's way too big in my opinion. Looks a bit out of place in this car. What plans you got for the car this year? I will not be going to shedfest, but I am going to RollHard, Players Goodwood, Plus44 & Ultimate Stance. Depending on how my show & shine application goes.

It would also help if people worked from home.. at least the ones that can. Companies make a lot of staff commute for "no reason". The traffic is getting worse each year, we need less people on the roads. Nobody wants to use public transport. It takes ages, so not really a solution, but working from home would certainly help. My commute is roughly 9 miles. Mixture of busy 40mph dual carriageways riddled with traffic lights every 400yards and regular 30mph roads. It's the time of the year where councils are using up their budget before the end of their financial year, so roadworks are everywhere. It takes me an hour to get home at 5pm. it's a 20-30min journey in the morning as I leave early enough. There used to be a "collapsed" manhole cover on one of the roads, causing the cover to be 3 inches below the road surface. I would always look out for it, but one day I couldn't avoid it due to oncoming traffic & cyclist and unfortunately cracked my alloy. I made a claim with my council, explained what happened, told them the exact location with a screenshot from Google Streetview. After 2 weeks of waiting they replied and asked me to take a photo of the pothole as evidence. I was away on holiday when they replied so I couldn't go out there. When i returned home a week later, that pothole was "coincidentally" mended and I wasn't able to take a photo anymore... I mean yes, it could've been a coincidence because this happened a lot to other people too, so I'm sure I wasn't the only one who tried to make a claim. I felt a bit fobbed off if I'm honest. Couldn't go any further with it as I wasn't able to supply evidence in time... This was sometime 2 years ago and now the very same pothole is becoming deep again.. ridiculous.
