I've just come across this on one of the FB pages with Jap cars for sale.. 191,000 miles is crazy amount for a car like this! It's great to see someone's been actually enjoying their RCF. Wonder if the previous owner(s) is on this forum. The car is listed for £17k although people were saying that the exact car was listed on Lexus website for £15k a few weeks ago.. Perhaps he bought it thinking he can quickly flip it for a bit of profit.. Questionable decision making in my opinion. People just don't buy cars like this with such mileage for this amount of money. Going to take some time to sell.. I'd personally just enjoy the car.. I'd be interested to find out if there was anything other than normal service items that needed replacing.

Not bad, although the interior was standard as Microsuede on the Sport model and that was the only option you'd have on that trim. You had the option of cream or black colours though. Leather was standard on SE & SE-L. Base model & SR had cloth manual seats, but the base models are very very rare. It had smaller 16" wheels, smaller/solid brakes etc.

There is many different hangers out there. Different shapes and sizes. They are universal to an extent, but the best thing to do is to remove one from the other side, take it to your local car parts shop (not halfords) and get one like it. Saves you the hassle of guessing the size, returning the parcels if it's ordered online etc.

This is a common area of rust on the backboxes. Same thing happened to my dad's facelift, minus the damage. I took it to the shops, got back and maybe 10s before I pulled in front of our gate the rear box collapsed in the same spot as yours. They couldn't weld it back together because there wasn't enough meat to weld on to. It cracked right where the pipe connects to the backbox. These cars smoke a lot when its colder outside. The OEM backboxes are a bit of sh|tty design as they hold a lot of water/condensation. I mustve drained a pint from the muffler when it broke off in front the house. lol

To be honest with you, in my experience, these traders don't know the cars as well as we would, so the spec being advertised incorrectly is quite common sadly. It will definitely benefit from a good valeting/detailing to restore the interior. I wouldn't be too picky about the colour as there is almost no F-Sports of LS600h anyway. Not to mention, different countries have different paint options. What we have here may not be available on the Jap market and vice versa. Not all, but most for sure. Ultra white is a Pearl paint.. I'd go off the paint code rather than the name as that also varies. As for the plates, it says it's a fresh import, the MOT was done on the 8th which was last week, so it's not been registered yet. They have to do an MOT off a vin number prior to registering it as it has to be road worthy. Mine got registered 3 weeks after its MOT, so there's no concerns that way. It says 1 UK owner, which would be the importer as they have to register it in somebody's name, so in reality it would have 0 UK owners despite the logbook saying 1 (the 1 being the trader). As for peace of mind, I'd suggest doing a CarvX report using the chassis number. It will show you everything. It's essentially the Japanese equivalent of our HPI check. Auction sheet will be included in it and everything translated.

Yes, I recently took delivery of my Toyota Mark X G's. It's built on the Lexus IS platform, but it's ~5" longer. I got it from a local guy who imports a lot of Toyotas/Lexuses. I have considered Beforward and other sites where you can buy the car yourself etc, but I've never done it before, so I thought I'd refrain as it's a big chunk of money if something goes wrong. The best thing you can do is to get in touch with Just Jap Imports, based in Nuneaton, or try other companies like JDM Garage or Torque GT. They have a japanese agent who will check the car over before bidding on it through the auctions etc. Peace of mind and you don't have to worry about any potential headaches with transporting the car to the docks once you won the auction, then customs in the UK, registering it with the DVLA etc. It doesn't even cost that much more. I just had a quick look on the auctions, and in the past 3 months there was only one 2014-2016 600h F-Sport with less than 80,000 miles. There is a few LS460 F-Sports though. Good condition, sub 80k miles, you're looking at around 2mil Yen / £10.5k. On the road price in the UK is ~£20k. This is a 2016 600H with 55,000 miles on the clock. Sold for £10k. You can definitely find something with a £20k budget, but it may take a little time as it's down to what comes through the auctions.

Test Driving an RC

Just because someone's a petrolhead, doesn't mean they would go for a bolder colour. It's a personality thing. I love cars, love working on them, driving them, modifying them etc. But you'd never catch me in a bright red, yellow, XYZ colour.. That, to me, just seems flashy & attention seeking. I said before, even if I could afford a super car, I'd be buying Ferrari F12 in Black. It's all subjective, but a lot to do with personality. -

Majority will definitely not think about re-sale value, and it would only apply to people who buy through HP or outright because you'll actually own it then. If you lease or get a PCP to change cars every so many years, colour has 0 effect on its "guaranteed future value". It's like I said before. Colours are just trends, like clothes. You see a certain type often, you start liking them, you get one. Silver was trendy at one point. It was associated with "luxury", then all of a sudden all cars were silver and now we look at a silver car and think "ew, base colour". 15 years from now people will say the same about current popular colours like the whites & greys. Trends will change again. -
As Linas already said, it wasn't a horrendous job for us, I've struggled more with stuff significantly less radical than removing an engine in the past. But yeah, if anyone is thinking of doing this, make sure you have a whole weekend free and a lift. The rest are just basic tool from Halfords Advanced line up! Oh and my £30 battery impact from eBay really proved itself useful 😁

Whoops. Sorry typo. £1000* not ten grand😅 But yeah, it's not easy to get it done right. A lot of insurance companies write cars off due to expensive paint. My mates BRZ was vandalised. Paint stripper thrown over it. Insurance wrote the car off as being uneconomical to repair... I think we pay stupid money for paint jobs in the UK compared to Europe or US. -

100%. The recent Mazda red is amazing. Most colours today are difficult, especially pearls. I got quoted just over £10000 for a rear bumper respray just because they'd have to blend it in with the quarters due to the paint being pearl -

Colours are just trends aren't they.. just like SUVs are a trend. "nobody" needs an SUV (maybe less than 5% of drivers). People used to buy estates if they needed the extra utility. I agree that some colours are nice, I myself had the Sage Metallic IS250 and that was a beautiful colour. When I was looking into getting an RC, I actually wanted the sonic blue, it looks great in the sun. Like the red too, but red is not me. While those colours are really nice, the majority of people want those top 3-4 trending colours that aren't really colours at all, so it's not out of order to say that red, blue etc are less desirable. It's just sales stats unfortunately. For example, most GT86s sold were red, that's just simply because it was the base (free) colour and others were like £600 options.. The GT86 red is horrendous compared to the Lexus (almost cherry) sonic red. It really looks like a generic flat red you'd see on Royal mail vans 😂 Yet it's the most common colour on that car.. simply because it was free.. -

Ofc the red owners will pipe up. Generally speaking, red, or most colours for that matter aren’t as popular as your “basic” blacks, whites and greys -

That looks beautiful, but still no Mark & Levinson Audio by the looks of it. ~£31k for 60k miles is a lot imo, but I know cars cost more in Ireland for some reason.. I can't give an objective opinion, not familiar enough with the Irish market mate. In terms of mileage alone, 60k is nothing. Many IS300h with the same drivetrain are on 200,000miles+ so that wouldn't be an issue, but it's up to you if you think it's worth the money 🙂 -
I’ll say it again, online quotes are pure bullsh!t for me, but look at this. 8NCB vs 0NCB Almost ~60% increase.. could be due to my age. The older you get the less NCBs potentially mean. I don’t know. We could talk about this for weeks and get nowhere. It’s a RNG scam. the fact that NCBs give you 10% discount per 1 until 6-7 is what my insurance told me, so it’s not a guess. However it may not always apply.
-
NCB still means the same thing. You generally get 10% discount for every year and it's capped at 6-7 for most insurers. So 6 NCB is 60% discount of your base quote. You will not see this, but the underwriter's base quote is say £2000. They will then apply your 6 NCB's (60% discount). Your quote is now looking like £800 thanks to those NCBs. If you get into an accident, but your NCBs are protected (like mine for extra £20). Your base quote next year may be £4000 because of the accident.. but you still have your NCBs so they can apply that 60% discount to that figure, so now you're paying £1600.. Now imagine what it would be like if your base quote is already high due to postcode, vehicle etc and you don't have protected no claim bonuses that you just lost in an accident.. You're gonna be quoted 4k 🫠 Someone I know rear ended a car in a crawling traffic, minimal damage to the bumper. It was deemed as 50/50 fault. They had to go through insurance because the person who got rear ended wanted to go through the insurance. The guy I know lost 2 years of his NCB and that's it. So you don't always lose all of them.

I've been pulled over a few times. Never any real outcome of it other than a slap on the wrist, but one of the times it was because my car was showing as "Uninsured" even though it was.. (I insured the car only a few days prior to being pulled over.) there is a roughly 2 week delay before the database updates, so I had to show them a proof of insurance (email). The fake insurance for £25/m is just so you don't get pulled over if ANPR picks up your plate like it happened to me.
