Don't bother is my opinion. It's far from a bad shift feel for a non sports car. There are better/other things you can do to improve the general feel of the car. The bushes below transform the steering feel. As for gearbox, I'd consider going for a solid flywheel when you eventually change the clutch. https://www.tegiwaimports.com/hardrace-is250-350-gs350-450-front-lower-control-arm-bushing-harden-rubber-2pcs-set.html?gclid=CjwKCAjw5P2aBhAlEiwAAdY7dBTO8GkKr4EnXXeF_12pXDiMtovuZQ4Nj0VTeDmPi8C0Av-2b4cV9BoClQgQAvD_BwE

IS250 - New beginning (bit of an ongoing "project")
H3XME replied to H3XME's topic in Modifications & Tuning
Well there goes my pride & joy. It's been with the new owner for 4 weeks and sadly it got 'a little' out of hand. RIP my old car. -
I wonder if it's something to do with the position of it. 86 is dead straight, but you know when you're for example in 3rd in your 250, it looks like you're in 5th. The gearstick is way to the right if you know what I mean.

IS250 has the same gearbox as GT86.. I'd give a gt86 short shifter a go.

Rear Alignment / Lower Control Arm Inner Bolts
H3XME replied to morgan_sa's topic in Brakes & Suspension
There's not a lot of adjustment you can do. If any at all..even after lowering the car, you will gain camber but if it's lowered evenly, you will get even camber too. Think mine was even at -3 degrees on the back. You can buy IS200 adjustable toe arms for £40 as that will be out a little after lowering. -
Exactly as said above. I would return it. 2010 IS250 from Lexus dealer must've not been cheap. You can get a car in a much better nick for cheaper off independent dealers. Shop off the condition, not the mileage. Few examples here: https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202209039410570 https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202210160780681 https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202208068521764

Rear Alignment / Lower Control Arm Inner Bolts
H3XME replied to morgan_sa's topic in Brakes & Suspension
If you can get at it, I'd just cut the fu*kers off. Just make sure you buy the new bolts before you start cutting. I had a bolt seized in the LCA when I was putting coilovers on. (The bolt that goes through the arm & shock). Had no choice but to cut it off to get the stock shock out and then couldn't find the correct size bolt anywhere. Tried B&Q, Screwfix and a couple of others.. Toyota quoted a week to get it so I ended up using 1 size smaller bolt just for the meantime and ordered a pack of 4 high tensile bolts for £6 on eBay on next day delivery. -

Have you test driven the IS, Anthony? Coming from a big comfy LS, I'd say the IS might be a little too sporty and maybe not what you expect? (Depends on what you expect of course). I guess I'm just trying to say that it might be worth considering GS of similar year as it's a bit of both, LS and IS. Something in the middle should you not get on with the "sportiness" of IS.. Just food for thought. -

They pass. They're still reflective. My friend has them and never had issues with MOT -

Thanks dude! I didn’t do anything major to the 250, but it’s been almost a 3 years long journey with it and I was quite happy with it the way it looked. I just planned on putting an apple car play unit in and getting the 3IS conversion front bumper but the guy who bought it already ordered those things so I’m excited to see it “finished”. I think it’ll look really good. As for the JZX100, I think I’m only gonna do coilovers and wheels as an immediate mod. I’m playing with the idea of BN/Vertex style body kit for it but I might just keep it original, body-wise. Its a super clean example -
The only way you want to find out. Do a burnout. You do realise that the Torsen that’s in those cars is an LSD right? Torque sensitive limited slip differential. Depending on how much torque you send to the wheels, that how much lock you get. My ‘08 manual had a factory lsd. My mates 09 facelift automatic has one too. How do I know? Do a burnout. One wheel peel = open diff. Two wheel peel = lsd.

To be honest, I was never gonna advertise the car for sale as it had too many miles on. I really enjoyed it and I didn't think I'd ever get the kind of money I'd expect for it. However, somebody messaged me asking if I'd sell the car, and I said yeah, sure.. £4k takes it. If not, I'm keeping it as I don't really want / need to sell it. And to my surprise he said YES. It was a bittersweet moment when he came to get the car from Kent, but at that point I had an eye on Nissan 300ZX.. I guess I just wanted to scratch the itch for a 90s jap car again. However the Nissan fell through as it was rusty and then I noticed the Toyota Mark II with 1JZ engine for sale near me. That's absolute immaculate so I put my deposit down and now I'm just waiting for DVLA to register the car (fresh Jap import)/ send the logbook so I can take it home from the dealer. Whether I'll enjoy the ownership of that as much as I enjoyed the IS250, I don't know. Maybe not, but it's a cool car in my opinion and I will always get the money back for it should I decide to sell it as the value of those cars keeps going up. I'm currently car sharing and I really miss the IS250. It just did everything I wanted from it, so I think that until I can manual convert the Mark II, I will have to learn to love the automatic life for a bit. At least it's got pillar-less windows.. that's the coolest feature on a 4 door saloon haha. If I don't get on with it, I might just sell after a few months and buy IS350 -

Goodbye IS250?

UPDATE: My Lexus has now been SOLD. Someone made me an offer I couldn't refuse, got a train all the way from Kent and drove it home sunday afternoon. I then went to Leeds to have a look another 300ZX that was meant to be super clean, mint condition and all that. The car wrapped in white, and you could see the bubbling arches through the wrap. Safe to say the paint must've been under it. It wasn't really in a condition I wanted. Ran very good, but bodywork wasn't amazing. Anyway.. Walked away from it, drove home and on the way down I found a 1999 Toyota Mark II JZX100 with 1JZ engine for sale in Solihull. Went to look at the car yesterday. It's completely standard, no mods, super clean, bodywork and paintwork is immaculate. Underneath looks better than my GT86 lol. I drove it for 20mins or so, car works as it should, sounds very healthy, interior in superb condition, engine too. Honestly over the moon with the condition of the car. I left him a deposit this morning after I checked with my insurance company (Brentacre) if they would insure it and they said no problem. Now I just have to wait ~2 weeks before the dealer gets the logbook. The car is a fresh Japanese import and needed registration so there are no plates at the moment. MOT was done via VIN number as DVLA needs to know it's roadworthy before registering it... I'm currently car sharing and I'm super excited for the Mark II to be at home so I can start doing bits to it. I've attached a picture of my goal and picture of what the car looked like yesterday. -

Funnily enough I read something on the 300ZX OC yesterday and apparently that the guy who ran Zedworld has retired. But thanks for the tip -

Thanks! It's only a DE (N/A) the one I'm getting (hopefully). TT Manuals are silly money, and to be honest I didn't want the ballache of having to deal with TT issues - there will be lots to sort out without having to even open the bonnet as it is. Price was right, can't complain. I'm just glad it's a manual and standard tbh. Other than alloys it's not been molested by max power body kits like the majority of them😂 My plan for it isn't anything drastic. Coilovers, wheels, exhaust, steering wheel (something smaller as I'm 6'2), 99+spec tail lights and a boot spoiler. Just like in the pic I attached. TwinDesign in the states do some really nice stuff. -
As the title suggests, I will probably be saying goodbye to my IS250. I wasn't planning on selling it, but someone asked if I'd sell and I said yeah, sure. So the said person is supposed to be collecting the car on Saturday, as is. It may be a goodbye to my IS250, but I won't be parting my ways with Lexus just yet. I am planning on getting a MK3 GS300 instead as I want the reliability and comfort for day-to-day driving, but I am also in the process of purchasing another weekend toy, manual Nissan 300ZX targa top, from someone local to me. I've wanted the Nissan for a long time and I think it's just meant to be. Someone wants to buy my Lexus and at the same time a 300zx for a reasonable price pops up? Fate perhaps? The 300ZX isn't mint, but it runs & drives, is solid underneath but the bodywork will need attention. Some rust patches are bubbling up under the paint in a few areas of the car, so I will be looking at fixing that over the coming weeks/months. I think it will be a case of a full respray eventually as the 32 years old paint is a bit tired at this point.

Don't put us all in the same bag, Chris! I'm 26 and do everything I can myself 😁 I hate the idea of paying someone hundreds of pounds for something I can do myself. It's easier than ever to do anything on your car today with so many guides online and YouTube videos. That car sounds like a right bag of 💩. Okay, not doing stuff yourself and not caring about the car to a point where it's neglected at two different things. Some people just don't care. I'd be embarrassed to drive around in something neglected like that. It's meant to be your pride & joy!
