Research shows it costs more to run an EV on long journeys
H3XME replied to Mr Vlad's topic in Lexus Owners Club Lounge
They aren't saving sh*t Vlad.. everyone with a working brain knows this. Global pollution from cars is less than 5%. The global warming is barely affected by this. Sure, EVs can reduce certain amount of smog in cities, but the cars today are already so clean that they're gaining fractions by focusing on cars. Trouble is, targeting cars is an easy thing for them to do, so they do it to look like they're doing "something"... maybe they'll come to their senses in the next 5-10 years and realise that EVs are an environmental bollocks excuse.. If someone wants an EV because they like it for the tech-y side of things, sure, it's a nice "futuristic" alternative, but don't be in denial about how not so green they are.. -

100%. General public won't be so keen on getting EVs until 1) prices drop significantly 2) and until there's a lot more charging stations. If you get one through your company then you most likely also have a charging port at work so not really an inconvenience. ICE cars are for everyone, how can a person who lives in a flat charge their EV? Those people are lucky to even get a parking space. Technology is barely ready, but infrastructure is nowhere near it. -
@sam85 Like others have said, it's more so to do with the driving.. it's road dependant, but obviously the lower the car, the higher the risk of these. If you are determined to have it resprayed / fixed, I would recommend going for PPF protection. A lot of people put it on high-end cars to protect them from this. It's literally like a transparent wrap/film that goes over your front end. Protects the paint. https://bodyguarduk.com/product/ - shop around, a lot of places do it, this is just an example. Can't vouch for these guys

Why Lexus is yet to break into the UK mainstream
H3XME replied to Roger Bill's topic in Lexus General Discussions
This is why I said in a few years. I wouldn't be spending 24k on a 350 now when for extra few grand you get the F. We'll see. They will drop eventually..maybe when they reach 10 year old mark in 2-3 years. -

Linas, there will be time where we will be able to import a pre-facelift RC350 from Japan for less than 15k. just give it a few years! Cheapest RC350 I found was £24k shipped. Facelifts go from £36k+ https://carfromjapan.com/cheap-used-lexus-rc-2019-for-sale-63973a7793450232e17d4ca9 https://carfromjapan.com/cheap-used-lexus-rc-2019-for-sale-639b460b07925b3128e228bd -

Why Lexus is yet to break into the UK mainstream

My very first introduction to Lexus was years and years ago watching one YouTube channel where a bunch of guys slammed an old LS400 on hockey pucks in place of springs.. 😂 That silly thing aside, they did a bit of a review of it and I was seriously impressed by the spec of that old 90s car they bought for a few hundred dollars.. I then started googling cheap Lexuses for sale, eBay, Gumtree the lot. IS200 never really took my liking as they are pretty basic and don't look that good either.. This was 2014 iirc. After a bit of research on different models etc, the 19 year old me had a great idea of purchasing a project. I bought a 1991 UZZ31 Soarer with air suspension, TV, cream electric interior, fully loaded car that looked so good but just wouldn't fire up. I paid £450 + recovery home. And now as I'm typing this out, I realised that the V8 Soarer was not only my introduction to Lexus, but also a practical introduction to working on cars and modifying them. After a bit of digging online, following logical steps as to why it may not run, I found the problem. It was a faulty fuel pump. I bought a new fuel pump, learnt how to replace it, then I did my first ever oil change and it started up. I was over the moon. I very quickly realised the brakes needed doing, front brake caliper was seized, so again, looked it up online and did a full caliper piston & seals rebuild. Lovely times. Anyway, I think it was 2017 when I first got an IS250 SE-I as my daily driver (insurance was surprisingly cheap and comparable to my 1.2 Polo at the time), it seemed like a reasonable choice, manual, LSD, rear wheel drive, great spec, and I've never really been a fan of German cars so as my list of requirements grew, the options shrunk. It was amazing, sat nav, M&L Audio etc. Only enjoyed the car for 4 months or so because an opportunity to buy a GT86 arose, so for a good while I didn't look back, but I got another IS250 end of 2019 which was my black one as some of you may know from my thread. I honestly don't know what I'd be driving now if Lexus didn't exist. I'm 28 this year, I don't buy cars from brand new, but when I think about getting a car, my requirements are: RWD, manual, reliable (need research for that), decent power/ 2.0L+ (& the more cylinders the better), ideally LSD. If you go on auto trader and put these requirements in, you won't end up with many results if you disregard germans.. oh, and don't forget to set the budget to 10k... you're left with Lexus, Nissan, Mazda and an old boxy Volvo 😂 -
IS250 - New beginning (bit of an ongoing "project")
H3XME replied to H3XME's topic in Modifications & Tuning
Haha id go for 350 over the F. Easier to live with.. fuel bill wise. 310hp is enough for the roads -
That's really nice! I was going to get it until I saw that the shipping costs as much as the bumper and by the time you have it at home it's another ~£200 worth of import fees.. put me off. Looks amazing though, I'm jealous! Good info on the headlight brackets. I wouldn't of thought of that when struggling to fit it 😂 Will you be selling your 3IS bumper? I'd be happy to get that before I buy a new one myself for my second IS250.

Could be an alternator.. follow the smell. See what's what. It's really unfortunate and none of your problems are common, at least not in the UK, but there's always exceptions unfortunately.

Like John said, this is likely to be battery / power related. Check the grounds, try a different battery, move onto the alternator. -
I'd agree, statistically speaking, turbo engines have added problems compared to N/A cars. Though, I've heard no horror stories about those engines yet.. who knows, it may just be as good of an engine as Golf R 2.0l or other 2.0l turbo 4 pots. Unexplored territory and it will probably stay that way because that engine isn't exactly in anything fun people would like to mess with. UK has about 7 RC200t and 3 IS200t lol, but who knows. It's a toyota engine

Yeah, but what's more special? AMGs have been selling for decades, IS-F is only one. Rarity factor reflects on prices. @JDF you will be way better off with the RC-F in the long run. 10 year warranty is also a no brainer really..

I wouldn’t be buying an EV. It’s not for me personally, but I ain’t gonna argue with those see some benefit in it for the sake of arguing. People are allowed to get what they want. I don’t have a problem with someone buying an EV. The more EVs on the roads the better for me = cheaper used gas guzzlers for me to buy
