Can-bus
H3XME replied to Spark plug's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
It's not the same as on the new ones. IS250s don't get stolen. Not a desirable car nor expensive one, it's not a hybrid so it won't be a subject to catalytic converter thefts either. Lots of parts available thanks to the diesels going bang so even parts demand isn't really there. -
As the title states, I've got a set of F-Sport wheels for sale. All with good 4-5mm 225/40R18 tyres all round. - £650 collection only (can delivery for fuel within reasonable distance) Headlights that aren't yellow if someone wants to "fix" their. All fully working, still on the car at the minute. - £250. Can post those at buyer's expense. Thanks

"1989 was the year, when Japanese cars suddenly changed and became world class, on another level. I would almost argue that it marked an era when Japanese cars caught up to German and American innovations, and took the lead perhaps for a time. It was the period of couple of years when the Nissan R32 GT-R redefined racing AWD platform, so that the AWD was not only just a traction enhancement idea, but that of sports handling tuning device. A feature to harness more power to the contact patch in extreme torque applications at high speed on asphalt, but more importantly, to retain certain sets of the more classical handing parameters that was unprecedented, and allowed drivers to really engage without most of the handling quirks of AWD systems to date. It was also the time when Lexus LS400 first debuted and reinvented the price structure of a luxury sedan, and broke the ceiling on minimal vibration, noise, reliability, and efficient delivery of power for this class of cars. If the Nissan RB26 and the Toyota 2JZ-GTE defined the upper tiers of classic engines in the stratospheric levels of durability in performance cars during this time, the LS400's 1UZ-FE was certainly a new generation of V8 engines that silently baffled the best engineers of the time, with the sheer lack of noise, and physics-defying efficiency, then unknown to buyers of 3 ton class luxury sedans. It was also the year when NSX debuted as Japan's first true modern supercar, and it also redefined the nature of these cars from something only intrinsically cool, and delicate, to something reliable, easy, very light and agile, and enhancing the role to more regular use and dependability. A couple of years later in 1992, the NSX Type R, introduced a whole new generation of performance engine choice of unprecedented racing influence in mundane cars from Honda, and trickled to Integra and Civics that re-wrote the capability ceiling for front drive car performance in true naturally aspirated driver-engagement and not just in numbers. Mazda also came in with the MX5 Roadster, commonly referred to as the Miata in this period too, and the old European classics that were disappearing had another life to live, vicariously through this single car that became the most popular sports car of all time." I don't think we'll ever see the birth of iconic cars like this again.

Mine went from £420 to £480 this year. I'm happy as I've got 10,000 miles, protected NCB & all modifications declared like for like. It really depends on your area. My mate who's the same age, has the same car and lives 30min away pays over a grand.

Selling is250

How much? -
Wasn't every UK model with sat-nav also M&L though? (2005-2013) I know that not all 3rd Gen and JDM (2nd Gen) cars had M&L even if they had a touch screen, but I've never seen one in the UK without M&L. I think 98% of the time it's safe to assume all touch-screen/sat-nav cars in the UK also have M&L.

Sorry to hear that. if it’s got a full service history (stamp every year or 10k miles), 2 keys, is in very good condition with no damage it’s going to be REALISTICALLY £5000-£5750 car depending on colour combination. Funnily enough I’m about to advertise my friend’s 2009 facelift SE-L in white pearl. 80k, FSH, 2 keys, few stone chips but overall very good condition. I will be advertising for £5200. Realistically will take £4900 but we don’t want to be sitting on it for a long time. It’s priced to sell. Yes, you’ll find some cars of similar age & spec on auto trader for £5700ish but those cars are gonna stay there for a while. As much as I’d like their value to stay up, it’s not realistic.

1) They have absolutely nothing to do with insurance companies. They cannot regulate their prices or anything like that, so there's not really much to say to that point. 2) The £500 cheaper quote for the new car is most likely down to not enough data for the 2024 model, not the fact it has a canbus plate / ecryption that the insurance company probably doesn't even know about. Give it a year and see if it's still cheaper.. The future claims will possibly cause a hike in the insurance premiums to the level of your MK4. I doubt it'll retain £500 cheaper. However, If things will keep going the way they are, the new Lexuses will end up like Sierra Cosworth 35 years ago. Nobody will have them because nobody will insure them.

I strongly recommend watching this YouTube video about China and they're "fake" economy if you will.. It's all facts & research, none of that conspiracy stuff. It's down to you what you make of it after you watched it.

IS250 tow bar
H3XME replied to Rains's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
Try these guys. http://www.kcatowbars.co.uk They're in Canterbury and I believe they do fitting too. Get in touch with them for a quote. -
I don't wanna be that guy, but you really need to buy an IS250 instead. Engine swap with all the work etc we're talking 1000-2000 quid.. You can buy a 250 for 2k. There's currently a silver one on marketplace for £995 with a slipping clutch (£600 fix and you're good to go). 130k miles manual 250 on a '55 plate so lower tax bracket. Like @Linas.P already said, it's definitely possible to swap it, but the amount of hours needed to undergo this project is what's making it expensive... unless you can do all the work yourself 🙂 Also, there is a reconditioned 220d engine on eBay - £1600 supply & fit. Finding the newer, FTV engine is a bit tricky too because there wasn't that many diesels after 2010 and those are generally okay. It's the early cars that have been affected the worst and therefore lots available.

Lexus Immobiliser

If you're sure it's not batteries in the key, then I think @Linas.P might be able to help. -
It won't be hunting for gears all the time. It's only a 6 speed. It's not bad like that at all. IS250 will treat you well, and they are much more suited to the auto box than manual.. they're no sports cars. Not to mention, go for a test drive mate, you'll know then.

+1 GOOD 225s is plenty. Michelin Pilot Sport 5s etc. Better mpgs, enough traction and doesn't make the car so dull to drive.
-
I shall add, it’s got a huge electric sunroof, black leather and the hottest heated seats my ars3 has ever felt😀

I'm picking up another IS250 manual in a few weeks. Black SE this time, but it also means my Forester will be up for sale. I got a 2006 FORESTER XE. 2.0L NA Auto.. It's on 111,964 miles at the minute but I'm still driving it daily so it'll go up a bit. It's got a service history, 2 keys, no rust and just had a full major service done before Christmas including timing belt and plugs. If anyone knows someone that could use a little AWD work horse let me know guys. Car works great, it's got some minor marks on the bumpers but it's expected for the age. £2800ono

Swap engine
H3XME replied to Lukasz3's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
You need to get insured with a specialist, but there won't be issues at all.. Many of my friends, myself included had JDM imported cars. They're often cheaper to insure than UK counter parts. For example, my insurance (Brentacre) would insure IS350 for £70 more than an IS250 when I got a quote before Christmas. Parts wouldn't be an issue either because it's pretty much the same as IS250.. Brakes are off GS300/GS450h, Rear brakes are the same as IS250. Engine is essentially the same as GS450h, except the hybrid models have the detuned versions of it. As mentioned, you can get pretty much anything off Amayama.
