Well it's been a long few days, but she's home! All clean and shiny too! 😎

All sorted - no dramas. Only advisory was on the rear brakes getting low, which was on my to-do list anyway. I must have been in a lazy mood, as I've just asked them to deal with it - most unlike me!

Tis a wierd feeling. Usually worrying with any new car that I don't 'know', but it has an extended warranty so what is there to worry about?! The CT is too small, too slow (and not even that economical), horribly unintuitive inside (how is this progress?!) and rides like, well almost any other new car I guess. Hope they do better next time. Shame there's no new GS to tempt me with, but I guess it's not beyond the realms of posibility that I'll end up with an IS next - just not whilst I have so many massive child seats to fight with!

In for MOT with Lexus. I have a shiny new CT200h as a courtesy car. I want my GS back!

The UK equivalent which you can get from here: https://www.lexus.co.uk/owners/your-vehicle/#past-brochures ...refers to lB02 as 'Ivory', but all you'll find on a Google search (for Lexus LB02) is US cars for sale advertised as having LB02 parchment leather. Ideally someone would sell a dye/repair kit which referenced the code, but I can't find such a thing anywhere - they all sell Ivory and Parchment as different colours!

In this case, Trionic 7 effectively reduces the torque request when it senses knock. It'll run fine on normal fuel if you need to though - no need to panic if you get caught short!
-
Thanks - that'll do nicely!

Any recommendation on which one to go for? None of the ones I had a quick look at actually stated that they come with Techstream, but that might just be for the obvious reason!

The short version: the salesman is talking nonsense. Slightly longer: higher octane fuel will provide a performance benefit (beyond any claims WRT 'cleaning' etc.) only if the engine is mapped to take advantage of the increased resistance to knock that such fuel offers. This could be through more aggresive ignition timing (which would be retarded if knock was detected e.g. through the use of lower octane fuel), or (in a forced-induction engine) through boost levels. Without any details on how the engine management system on your car works I can't comment on whether it has any capacity to take advantage of higher octance fuel. The concept of it having a negative effect and 'burning out the valves' is nonsense, though.

Just to update this: the pump wasn't plugged in and (/because) the pipes were in a right state! Someone has had issues with it in the past and bodged/failed to fix it. Not a drama as I knew about the problem when I got the car, but (following the latest rule changes) would have become a MOT issue this year. Tested to confirm the actuators/jets are ok, and I now have the bits to rectify the rest. Frustratingly, I couldn't find any 10mm I/D pipe anywhere local to deal with it there and then. For reference (as per my question above), the actuators are indeed 'powered' by water pressure.

It was cheap! Pics to follow when it's not filthy... It's had a knock on the NSF corner a few years ago which wasn't repaired all that well - I'll stick a new wing on it, probably a bumper cover too. The appeal of this one was that it's newer and lower milage than I'd otherwise budgeted for, it was cheap enough to still be quids-in once it's all sorted, and also the minor point about it still being under extended warranty, which I can extend for another 2 years... I was never really interested in the non-hybrid GS. Would have preferred an LS to a GS430, and the 300 didn't really excite me... I was originally looking for an LS430, but my local Lexus specialist convinced me that the 450h was the way to go. Once I'd driven one, it wasn't going to go any other way!

Thanks. The former is an easy test at least! I did try the latter, but couldn't hear anything from where I was stood reaching in through the window to press the button. I need an assistant for next time, but that's what kids are for, right?! Anyone know whether they should operate with the car 'on' but not 'ready'?

So, first thing to sort out on my 2010 GS450h - pressing the button to wash the headlights achieves precisely nothing! All I've checked so far is the fuse. I'll pull the bumper cover off at the weekend and see what there is to be seen, but any tips in advance of that would be appreciated... What's most likely to have gone wrong? Switch? Pump? Blocked hose? Actuators? One specific question: is there anything electronic in the system other than the pump? I.e. are the actuators that raise the washer jets 'powered' by water pressure or is there more to it than that? Any input much appreciated!

Took me a while to get round to this, didn't it. Few things to sort out, but overall pretty pleased... it's not a high spec car by any means, but even the SE is hardly spartan. & Being newer than I expected to get brings useful things like Bluetooth/usb/aux rather than a tape player! 😀
